DisMeet - Baltimore (DC/MD/VA/PA) - Part 2

Yay, another taker for the meet on the 29th. I am getting excited for my trip. Gotta pack this week cause I work the weekend and then fly out on Wednesday at Noon.

Yay.

I'm late to this party but I'm Julie from Falls Church, VA.

I won't be able to go to the next meet as I will be flying to Louisville.

That's okay Jules, this was an impromptu meet as I happen to be in town (Currently from Vegas). I am sure this gang will work on September shortly. Most of the local folk are off to WDW at this time. . .or not able to attend. I believe there are only 4 of us so far for this meet on the 29th at Inner Harbor. (Oh, by the way, I am not a local. I am from Vegas. . .just have two trips planned out this way.)

Oh no worries.

I saw you were from Vegas. I lived there for 3 months in 2003 and am finally getting to visit again in October.

Okay, for those of us going to Inner Harbor on the 29th. Do we want to buy Aquarium tickets? And if so, for what time? We plan on getting to Inner Harbor at 10 a.m. or earlier if needed.

Also, the plan is to go to the Observatory, and also see HP at the IMAX.

If anyone wants to do Howl at the Moon that night, we have a hotel room that is only a 10 minute walk to crash at in case no one wants to drive home. . .

Lets get the planning going

The hotel we found a room at is the Quality Inn on St. Paul Street - not as good as the waterfront hotels, but also nowhere near as expensive...

-Ken

Cheap is good my dear. And at least its a quality inn so its probably fairly decent. . .at least as clean as a Disney Value. . .with AAA I believe the rate was less than 80 bucks. . .but you will have to verify that with Ken (watank)

Okay everyone, I back from my travels. I haven't forgotten about the DisMeet on August 29th.

If everyone is still interested, here's some suggestions.

The Maryland Science Center and the Harry Potter, 3-D IMAX movie. The times are 10:20 AM, 1:30 PM, 4:40 PM and 7:50 PM.

The Planetarium schedule depends on which one we want to do.
"Live From the Sun" is at 12:00PM
"The Sky Live" is at 3:00PM and 5:00PM

We also have the aquarium to see, but I highly recommend purchase your tickets on line.

Do we want to plan a lunch or dinner? If so, depending on how many of us, we might want to make reservations.

So far I think its only 4 of us. Me, you, Ken and Goofydude. If we can get a time commitment from Goofydude, we can make a decision as to a time frame for purchasing the aquarium tickets.

I'm local, so I can make whatever time you'd like. It's only about a 20 min trip from my apt. to the Inner Harbor.

Hi everyone, we're sort of local. what do you do at a DisMeet? If our DS doesn't have a scrimmage, we may be able to join you on the 29th if there's still 2 slots available. We'll know by Wednesday. Thanks, andrea

Are you trying to rub it in? ROFLMAO. . .you know you might make Mel a bit Jealous. She has decided that Inner Harbor is her retirement spot. . .lol.

Andrea, there are always "slots" available. A dismeet is just where people who hang on the disboards gather for a "live" get together.

For this upcoming weekend at Inner Harbor, we are planning on the aquarium (still working on the perfect time slot to purchase), Planetarium, and Harry Potter at IMAX. . .There is also a work in progress for a night at Howl at the Moon. Ken and I got a room at Quality Inn for less than 80 a night with AAA discount. We are willing to let others crash in the room who might want to go to Howl that night. . .

Teresa, Ken and I and probably GoofyDude (since he is so local) are probably meeting at 9:30 a.m., though we still have not decided on an aquarium entry time. . .my suggestion is 10 a.m. but that is a new addition and everyone needs to weigh in. . .

Trying to think of how long it takes to go through the aquarium, can we exit and re-enter after we go in? Otherwise might have to be a late lunch (or dinner)... Should be plenty of eatery options, I'm vegetarian, Darcy's seafood (should be easy to accommodate at the harbor ;) ) or veggie, my only thought is not Phillips since we ate there last time :)

We can always pad the ressie (just like an ADR :lmao: ) to cover maybes (6-7 at this point?)... hmm Cheesecake factory, maybe? Haven't eaten there in ages, although IIRC they don't take reservations :(

Umm looking at movie times, how does "The Sky Live" at 3pm and Harry Potter at 4:40? Assuming we do dinner and Howl after that...

Quality Inn is $80+tax, AAA discount was another $8 or so... We'd have to be subtle about cramming people in if needed since max occupancy is technically 3 :rolleyes1

Did you book a King bed dear. ..that explains the 3 max occupancy. . .rofl. . .however, we would sneak people in the back door. . .lol. I am the queen of maxing out hotel room occupancy with drunk friends. . .roflmao.

The aquarium does not allow exit and re-enter. The tickets are timed entries, so if your entry time is for 10:00 am, then you enter at 10 am spend only a few hours and then exit. If the entry time is 2pm then you enter at 2pm, spend a few hours and then exit. This helps regulate the number of ppl inside.

This is going to take some creative planning. . .and of course we are running out of time. What say you Teresa. Have a suggestion for how to fit it all in? I definitely want to do the Observatory and HP and would like to fit in the Aquarium. But if I have to make a choice I choose the Observatory over the Aquarium first.

I'm with you Darcy..I rather do the Observatory. Maybe we can meet at 10 am, get our tickets for the Science Ctr, and IMAX movie. Then go over to the aquarium to see what is the last available time we can get in. Based on that we can decide if we can do that when we finished with the science center.

If we're not sure about whether we'll want to hit the aquarium this time but eventually will, I can go pick up vouchers from a AAA office - IIRC they're good for a while (a year? Been a while since I last picked some up) and get exchanged at the will-call window so shorter line and can save money vs pre-ordering ($20 as opposed to $25+$2 fee), and avoid getting tied down to a specific entry time beforehand... just trying to keep our options open since I sense a time crunch coming ;)

-Ken

I am all about the Science Center and Observatory. We can take our time and enjoy it. We can always do the Aquarium later. . .I mean we want to do HP at IMAX. Its a pretty full day. And I will be back for sure. . .In less than a month if not sooner. . .lol.
