DISmeet at D23 Expo! - Meet dates in 1st Post

i agree with this, if it's not pre-arrange it will be difficult to make it happen. maybe we could do two pre-arranged locations/times, perhaps one on Thursday off site and one on Saturday evening/night at the event, just a idea.....

We will figure something out. I kind of like the idea of a Yahoo group. I have set up private FB groups but never a Yahoo group. Something where we can get electronic messages out.

Maybe we should create a poll?

Yahoo groups are very easy to set up, you can also have multiple moderators to approve members to get emails. I agree that we should have several prearranged meets, but it seems to me it would be hard to set them up for during the Expo without the full schedule being released.

I can't believe we are only 10 days away till the D23 Expo and it will be great to do a meet up before the Expo on Friday. I also have a smart phone.

Let's plan on Thursday evening around 8PM at the lounge at the Hilton. We can add other times during the Expo as more of the schedule is released. Most people seem to have smartphones, and for those who don't can be informed of the other dates and times at that Thursday night meeting.

Does anyone want to lead an effort to get a special DIS "name badge/ID badge" that we can all look for? As I said I personally will not be there Thursday night because I will be at the park. But I will be there bright and early Friday morning! And I would love to be able to find some of you. Any of you. Well, at least one of you!

Are you thinking of the LGMH or something custom designed that we download from this thread?

Also, we don't know if they will open the doors at 8AM for D23 members and 9AM for the rest like last time. There is a Starbucks in the Hilton lobby which opens at 6AM. Depending on the time the doors open, we could have a meet scheduled there between 7AM & the time the doors open.

I was thinking of a LMGH but I seriously do not want to go out and find one. Maybe someone could post a design that says "DIS" as a jpeg and we could download it? I would make one if people would use it. If someone else wants to make one I will use theirs. Whatever.

I could not find that anywhere on hte expo site. On Sunday there is an imagineering presentation at 9AM.

I would love to meet up with the group on Thursday night but the peeps in the Sorcerer group won't get back from the parks until around 9pm. Well technically we're done at 7pm but the 1st shuttle back doesn't leave the parks until 8:30pm. Guess I'll check when we get back to see if the group is still around.

I've got a ton of LGMH's in my purse. I could attempt to overlay the Expo logo over and upload it as a *.jpeg on photobucket and post it here.

As far as a morning meet, they may open the doors to the convention center before the first 9AM session. In which case people may prefer to line up if possible.

If it helps any, the date of my downloaded copy of the 2009 show book was September 4, 2009. That was less than a week before the show. Hopefully they'll have something similar online by this weekend.

I can't remember if you're coming in early to do the parks. If not you probably want to stay and enjoy, since I think you're coming from far away. On the other hand I would love to have a Sorcerer at the meet to hear about the walk through of the show floor.

Also it's an easy walk to the Hilton provided you do not have any disabilities, so you would not necessarily need to take the shuttle. Whatever you choose it is likely there will be a few of us still there!

Hey! That's awesome! Much better than I could have done! Most of my graphic design work comes out looking like it was done by a mathematician! I'd say we have a winner. I just hope that it has a resolution high enough that I can send it to my local Costco to make a photo as I don't have a color printer!

I'm answering you question about the badges on this thread since this is where we talked about it. The idea is that you take the Lime Green Mickey Head (LGMH), print it out and attach it to your backpack, purse, hat, scooter, shirt, or whatever. When you see others with a LGMH you'll know they are a fellow DISer. Many people get these from Home Depot in the paint section. ImTooExcitedToSleep customized it for the Expo, so if you see someone with the custom LGMH, you'll know they found it here on this thread.

That way if you miss each other at a meet you can still say "hi" if you run into each other during the Expo.
