When Does Availability Refresh?

I was wondering if anyone knew when room availability updates? Does it refresh when a room is canceled, or does it just update once a day, say 7:00am or something?

I don't think anyone has figured this one out completely. I think I have canceled a reservation that had no availability before I canceled, and then showed the unit available right after the cancelation. So, it could be in Real Time, but there has also been huge blocks of units opening up at random times.

It updates in real time. If you cancel a res, it will show up immediately after (unless a waitlist grabs it).

I’ve had mixed results - sometimes when I’ve released a room, it shows up quickly (but - at least in my experience- not immediately) but more often or not it’s been like 30-40 minutes later…could be because there’s a waitlist and the system has to go thru its algorithms?

I think this is correct. Strange that waitlists don't always grab it before it is available to book.

I’ve seen it updated as soon as I cancelled a room. But that might not happen if there are waitlists.

It seems like they run the waitlist at certain times of the day. We have had waitlist for a room. Happened to check myself and saw the room available, so I booked it myself and cancelled reservations.

I have also needed to hold a room, call MS and have them book it. I would hold it (start booking), when agent was ready, I would cancel the booking. They would refresh and immediately grab.

For that reason, I agree it is realtime.

Waitlist program on their end scans at certain intervals...probably somewhere in the couple of minutes to 5 minutes time frame (just a guess). That's what allows us to sometimes grab a room with stalking instead of the wait list picking it up. But a MS rep did tell me that's the way the system works.

I cancelled a reservation and announced the time I would under the RunDisney thread. Someone said they snagged it and thanked me immensely. Or they were just being nice . Still made us feel good to help someone out. If they were honest… it was real time

Its def real time because I drop things and then check how long it takes for someone to grab it so I can then feel sad that i dropped a popular reservation

It is supposed to be real time, but the wait lists make it more complicated. I personally have had very little luck with waitlists, and have done much better stalking - particularly when I am somewhat flexible with what I am looking for....

Im too impatient for waitlists to be effective, it frustrates me that it doesnt go thru so i try for something else which then puts me at the bottom of the totem pole lol.

Im really trying to stick with these i currently have, but like you i've had way more success with stalking, I just see wl as an added insurance policy combined with my stalking lol
