DISH NETWORK??? No more Comedy Central. MTV. Nickelodeon!!!

We have Dishnetwork as well. I tried a few minutes ago to access their website to send an email about this 6 cents business I have been reading about and the site is down. I hope it is caused by excess traffic, because it would be pretty crappy if the shut it down to prevent people from complaining or cancelling services.

We have Dish Network also. We didn't see the scrolls. It makes me angry that they did not warn us. I could accept it more if they did. The fact that Noggin is totally gone from the line up concerns me. The channel is just gone. My Dh emailed them this morning and told them if Noggin is gone, then so are we.

I hope they fix this problem soon. We have 2 PVR receivers and 2 regular receives in the house. I don't want to have to buy all new ones for Direct TV. :earseek: We can't switch to cable, the cable company is awful.

All I know is that in those cities where CBS is owned by Viacom, they'd better get this resolved before March Madness starts!!!!!

I had dish network for like two years, in fact I still have the dish on the roof of my house, I also have the starband dish ( their high speed satelitle internet service ) and we also have a C-band satelite dish in the backyard.
None of them are operational right now because Dish/starband were costing twice as much as I am paying now for my cable modem/tv.
I love my cable modem and my cable tv now!

that's what CBS is claiming...it's in the article i posted back on page 3 or 4...

I am wonder about noggin also! I love that station for the kids. There is no ch. 169 anymore, not like 160 or 170 that say that the station is blocked out. I do not know how they can just take away a station with no notice. I do understand about a station being blacked out, but to take away a station....We love Disney channel as well, but noggin was on even after my 5 yo got home from school.

The satellite companies can basically take away channels as they see fit because they are not regulated.

Cable companies, on the other hand, have agreements that they must follow-they have to carry certain channels, they have to carry a certain amount of channels, they have to carry certain channels in basic cable, etc.

I bet some of the cable companies would love to tell Disney to shove it and not pay the sky high prices for ESPN but they can't. Everyone wants ESPN. Can you imagine if your DH or SO or yourself came home tonight and ESPN was off the air because your cable company refused to pay for it and pass the increase along to you?

I think it's great that they are telling the owners of these stations to take a hike. The people that own the blacked out channels know that most people can't live without Nick, etc. and they are counting on people demanding them back-at a higher rate.

My DS is 14 so the loss of Nick isn't so bad. It is the only channel affected that we ever watched now & then. If Dish Network is doing this to keep rates down, I say good for them! Viacom should not be able to bully a company into paying more for their programming just to line their own pockets. If my rates go down because the Viacom channels are not available, that's fine with me. We can watch Disney Channel, Toon Disney, and Cartoon Network when we want to see kids' programming.

Hard to justify the Dish Net strike of those channels after they recently raised their prices $3 a month to their subscribers.
I am a Dish Network subscriber and and my prices have not gone up? My sister in law is a Directv subscriber and her prices HAVE gone up by 3.00 dollars.

Wow really? We paid for digital cable $94.27 a month plus $24.99 for our cable modem! When we switched to the dish Comcast wanted to raise the price of our cable modem to 64.00 a month!!!

It's easy to cheer on Dish Network when you don't watch the channels. Personally, if they wanted to cancel ESPN I wouldn't even notice. No one in our house would. Our children are by no means attached to the TV. My daughter didn't notice the difference today. However, Dora, Blues Clues, and Little Bill are some big favorties here. As much as we LOVE Disney, you can't replace those mentioned shows. It's kinda like taking TLC off the air and replacing Trading Spaces with any old home repair show. Just not the same.

Did anyone watch the live show in the CBS space with the CEO of Dish Network tonight? He took calls and emails and a lot of people brought up several questions. He said that it was definitely not a matter of just 6 cents or they would sign an agreement right that second. He claimed it was a lot more money plus being required to carry certain stations they didn't want plus being asked to pay more for some stations they already had. He said that Viacom used the Superbowl as a blackmail tool to begin with. Supposedly, Viacom said that Dish Network had to sign or they would not receive broadcasts of the Superbowl. Dish Network took them to court and managed to get an injunction so they could show the Superbowl after all.

I don't know what the truth is but I think that I'll stick to Dish Network since our service is good and we only pay $69/month for 3 receivers. (No premium channels though.)

Thanks Planogirl. Did he say when he thought a resolution would occur?

I cannot live without my "Daily Show" with Jon Stewart. :(
It's on in ten minutes and I can't watch it!!!

I think it is channel 101 on DISh that has the CEO explaining what is going on . It is in a loop so it repeates everytime he finishes the statemenet release.

I hate that I have to miss my MTV reality shows , I really like Nick and Jessica , and Ozzy I was even startign to like that show with Carmen Electra.

DirectTV here and everything's ok(I would have been made to lose MTV and Comedy Central)

Idea: if things drag on maybe someone could start a thread for the CBS shows(Survivor and CSI) and maybe some of the MTV reality

Someone called and asked that too. He said that he doesn't know how long it will take but hinted that both Dish Network and Viacom never really expected it to come to this. He's hopeful that now that it has, an agreement will be easier to reach.

This was in addition to the regular looped statement by the way. One of the VP's of the company is also sitting there fielding the calls and emails. They said that more live shows might be done in the upcoming days if needed and that they would be on the CBS station.

Luckily MTV re-runs their shows so often that you should have no trouble catching up on your favorites once this dispute is settled.

We also have no plans to switch from Dish Network. There customer service has always been terrific and we have never had any problems with our dish service.

well, i checked our dish last night and we lost the normal channels, except for CBS. i'm bummed about losing MTV right now, but i'll survive.

but this morning, i turned on the tv to watch the news on NBC. we always have that channel on each morning as we get ready for work...NONE of my local channels are working!! i can't find anything online regarding all of my local channels being unavailable. there's no mesage on the on screen guide that says off air...when you tune to the channel, it's just a blank screen. oh...i'm going to be so upset if i have to miss my american idol tonight...:( we live in a rural area and local reception on our tv is terrible...
