I do not watch much tv but I do watch "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart every night.

What the heck is the world coming too!!!

Bascially it looks like DishNetwork dropped some channels (on strike) because Viacom raised their prices!!!

When I was watching comedy central over the weekend there was a scroller about that all day....

It was Comedy Central and a bunch of other channels, maybe Nickelodeon being one of them.

Yep, no Nick, no music (MTV & VH1) and I do not know what else?

hmmmm.... I wonder what happened?

Looks like it will be the same with Directv.

Does that void the year contract with them if you don't get all the channels that were originally offered...?
I got my sysytem for free as long as I signed up for a year...Nickelodeon was a major reason I got satellite...

Yeah MTV was scrolling this all day yesterday.

They were encouraging people to call and demand to have the channels they paid for.

I saw the scroll, too....very weird! I'd be a bit miffed if I were a dish owner.

Why do you say that with Directv? I havent seen any mailings about it.

there are number to call and complain for all the channels (unfortunately you have to pay for the call no 1800) Well off to make my call it's going to be miserable when the kids sit down for their 2 hours of telivision and no dora or rugrats!!!

The banner was on the other day on my TV too.. ...But I think it was just certain areas...Only seen it once...

My banner said DISH NETWORK subscribers in big bold letters...
so I am hoping it isnt directv

I hope your right...:D

I'm so cynical. I thought the scrolling banner was propoganda from the Cable Company trying to scare people!!! I don't have sattelite TV, so it doesn't affect me. But I sure would be ticked!

i hope i don't loose my channels!! i watch MTV quite a bit...

I have DISH network, and we saw the scroll, but it would get blacked out every time it started to say which channels. This is going to make me very angry if they do this. My kids watch Nick all the time.

I just got off the phone with Direct TV and the woman I spoke with gauranteed that Direct won't be losing any of their stations. I double checked with her about Nick and she said, "Oh no, I'm not sure why the other company is doing that with their stations but we won't be doing it here." Can you gaurantee that I asked? "Yes I can."
Needless to say, as of Thursday I will be a Direct TV subscriber. They are running a promo of 3 receivers and free installation. Only charge is a $14.95 handling fee. I think it is a shame that Dish was losing so many channels and only offering $1 a month discount. From what the woman at Direct said, Dish will really suffer because they are losing a lot of customers.

and they also were scrolling and talking specifically about DISH TV.....I can't even think of a day with out little bill and Dora......or Rug Rats.....the kids do not watch tv all day.....but we have specific programs that we watch.....and Little Bill is one of them....when it is quiet time for nap.......he puts the kids to sleep every day..
We do not have a contract with Direct........but I would be upset if I lost those channels........

Well, I posted too soon I guess, just checked my TV and the stations are gone. This is going to go over real well when my kids get up in a few minutes for breakfast.

Dish seemed to be offering a much lower rate lately...
I got my Directv at Circuit City for $149.95(same 3 receivers and free installation deal) and they give you a $150 rebate...You have to wait 6 weeks to get your money though..
Thanks for looking into this...
