Disgusted with a DCL CM

Well, count me as curious but I'm not sure it's appropriate to PM just cause I'm curious. Is it something I really need to know? I hate rubberneckers at a car crash so ... :confused3

Maybe I'd be better not knowing anyway?

I know what you mean about rubberneckers.....I just sent you a PM

Go on your cruises and enjoy them! I am pretty sure this particular incident will not be affecting anyone else.

Agreed. It's not a jeopardy issue at all. Agree with the OP---just disappointing. I also support how the OP is handling this. I wanted to know because I didn't want my kids to see something immoral occurring.

We all pay good money to enjoy these cruises, and I've not been disappointed yet. Everyone----enjoy the cruise and don't empower anyone to ruin it for you!!

Blessings, Susan

I was just thinking the same thing. So far, the people who HAVE sent PM's and know the story are making it even worse.

But someone back there said something that I'm not sure I agree with.....about "leaving it alone" if it happened while the CM was off duty or off property. I used to work for a major bank, and our behavior was scrutinized even when we were outside the bank. We signed a contract to behave in a manner that would not reflect badly upon our employer, and they were darn serious about it.
My husband and I now own our own business, and I would easily fire any employee acting in a way that would reflect badly upon us....especially if people KNEW he/she worked for us.

Well, I have to say I feel pretty confident then that you would fire them in a SPLIT second.

Whether this was done while they were 'on duty' or not, the behavior is appalling!! They were clearly on DCL's property when 'said offenses happened' and that in and of itself makes it wrong in my eyes. This is clearly one of the pitfalls of the internet age. I don't think Disney's going to be happy about this one!!! Personally, if I were a 'higher up', I think I'd be rolling a few heads around to make sure all CM's knew this was a HUGE NO-NO at DCL, WDW, DL, etc....

But, I do think the OP is handling in the best possible manner. Kudos to you! Actually I am glad you found about this. I have a very strong suspicion that this has happened before...just this time, the CM got caught! :goodvibes

I want to say "Thank you" to the OP.

I work in media, and I would probably become very officially interested if I investigated. Since it's being handled by PM, I can stay blissfully ignorant as to the facts of the incident.

As long as DCL handles the problem, everyone worrying about it and running around in circles needs to settle down.

I've seen a few people acting like mature adults, and a bunch of Chicken Littles, and I'm surprised that this thread is now 5 pages long. Everyone is so quick to assume the worst. If it does not affect you, let it go.

However, if DCL does not act, or does not respond within a reasonable amount of time, escalate it to Burbank ASAP.

Would like to know the problem, As we are sailing in 2 weeks. I can't send private messages as I'm new here...Please PM me!! Thanks

I can't pm due to my status and would like to know about the incident. We are brand new to Disney cruising and would feel better if I knew.

Thanks,

I would like to know the problem as well. We have never cruised with Disney before and have already booked our first cruise on the Dream.

I haven't PM'd the OP to find out what it is, and don't intend to...but I wonder just how seriously this will be taken when we're talking about this being 'reported' about MONTHS after the fact.

If something so terrible happened, so outrageous, it makes little sense that it isn't reported immediately and it wouldn't surprise me if DCL takes the report with a grain of salt.

They may ask the CM about it, and comment about the report, but unless the actions can be verified by another source I doubt anything happens to this CM.

The OP has digital evidence so it can be verified. I'm sure DCL will address it. Hopefully, they will take steps to insure this isn't something other CMs are doing for their amusement as well.

I am still earning my ears so I can't PM yet. Would you mind sending me a PM? Thanks and I hope you get a response soon.

Again, I don't know what the situation is and really just playing devil's advocate here...I'm not saying whatever the OP claims didn't happen...but if valid digital evidence exists then DCL would be foolish not to question why it took so long to come forward with it.

This is what happens when somebody says, "Guess what?" and you say, "What?" and they say, "I can't tell you."

Excellent point.

While its admirable that the OP doesn't want to cause undue drama, unfortunately he or she has done exactly that. Attempting to keep the details 'private' by only revealing them to those that PM isn't really keeping it private, because any one of these people can now post it someplace publicly.

Now, with everyone who has these 'details' via PM exclaiming how horrible it is, the storm just gets bigger....

What indication do you have that it is "taking so long to come forward"

The OP just found the evidence and acted upon it immediately. Being Devils advocate and making it sound like the OP is dishonest or looking to get something from DCL is plain insulting and not necessary. She has graciously answered numerous PM's on this issue and updated her first post assuring that this is not a safety issue. She is waiting until she hears back from Disney. I applaud her for the way she is handling it. While this is not a safety issue, it is a serious matter. I hope this CM is fired immediately.

I tried to PM but the box is full. Salingby, please let me know if you are able to do so.

Fortunately in 14 DCL cruises we've never encountered a really bad behaved CM. We did have an assistant server on our 1st cruise who was new to DCL and used a "bad" word at dinner but I truly think he didn't know and we told him it was not appropriate. Same sort of thing (but different "bad" word) happened on the Baltic cruise this summer on an excursion train to Berlin with a guide hired to help out in the train cars. She was not a DCL employee. My DH and I just looked at each other stunned and fortunately our kids were not paying attention. Overall I think Disney does an excellent job in hiring great CMs.

Because the incident apparently happened over 6 months ago, which is when she said she last cruised.

I'm assuming that this digital evidence is either photos or videos from the trip (which is what it sounds like), so if one was actually taking the picture or video, wouldn't it have been witnessed right then? And seen as terrible then?

Or when viewed once arriving home after the trip acted upon then?

Its hard to believe that no one looks at their vacation photos and videos until more than 6 months has passed. Most are looking at those things a lot after returning, to re-live the memories.

As I said, I'm not questioning whatever it is that the OP is saying nor did I once accuse him or her of being dishonest or trying to get something from Disney. I'm only saying that when DCL is confronted with something so terrible (by the OP's and apparently others' standards) its makes perfect sense that they would take a skeptical view of it considering the amount of time that has passed since the alleged incident.

This is what happens when somebody says, "Guess what?" and you say, "What?" and they say, "I can't tell you."

But if you look at the first post in this thread, the OP didn't do that. They posted a request for specific information -- a way to contact DCL electronically. That is a legitimate question here. It was others that asked for details. As a response to those inquiries, the OP decided that they did not want to post publicly but was not hiding information and would give it to anyone who asked for it privately. I don't think there is a need to chastise the OP as they are handling the situation the way they want to handle it.
