Ah, thanks so much DM! These things just crack me up! I swear I'm going to try to find one of these scary dolls and I'm going to carry it all over Disney World just to freak people out! :rotfl:

Hello everyone... my have you all been a bunch of chatty ones.... the last few days have been crazy here... and I am really running off to work in about 15 minutes... but wanted to say hello.... so hello.....

Maggie went to the prom last night... she had such a great time... glad its over though... yikes the dress, the hair, the nail, the jewlrey, the shoes, the phots.... its like a darn mini wedding.. but she had fun and thats what matters... then both Maggie and Daniel had NYSMA... that is New York State Music Association.. the kids prepare a piece of music and play infront of a a judge... it is how the state honor bands are selected.... Daniel played yesterday and poor Maggie had a 9:30 am playing time today - after being up all night for the prom.... oh well.... Daniel is in 8th grade and is pretty talented and thought he would really try a difficult piece... he chose a piece of music that is a college level piece... and usually a sophomore in college level... and he is in 8th grade... well as much as I hate to say it I really felt he was setting himself up for disappointment... but he pulled it off and scored a 97% - A+ - the highest in school.... I don't know who was more surprised... him or me... Maggie did well... she played a very contemporary piece of music that the judge told her going in the she (the judge) didn't like this type of music... needless to say she was very critical and didn't score her well... she received an 89%... oh well... you can never tell what will happen.... she was fine with it though - she knew she played well and it was just the opinion of that judge... she really has such a positive attitude :)

Maggie looks beautiful! I bet she had a great time! I had such a good time at my prom. I'm gonna have to dig up the pics. And congrats on NYSMA! I used to do that every year in school. I played a mean flute! :)

Those toilet dolls are so funny. We had one as a kid. It always creeped me out. I think I eventually took the barbie's head one day and put a little firecracker in it and lit it. I was an evil child. I hate barbies.

Yikes, remind me to stay away from you if I manage to find my scary TP doll! :rotfl2:

:lmao: I love the 'do's of the late '70's/early 80's!

We didn't have sit down dinners at our prom.

That was me in 2005.

You looked beautiful, Mandy!

Well, the new Shrek movie was cute. I'm not sure I'd need to see it again, but it had its moments. After the movie we went to the park to do some more skating. We were there the rest of the afternoon! I managed to not fall today, but I'm still barely going anywhere! Oh well. And we never did make it to McDonald's for dinner, so no Shrek toys or glasses for me... I'll have to get there tomorrow! So instead I'm having frozen lasagna for dinner. It's cooking in the microwave right now. Smells kinda nasty, but I suppose it'll have to do. It's either that or raman noodles, and I'm NOT going there! :scared:

Brittany - Did you make the tie dyed Mickey shirts that yall have one in your siggie picture? I love them...I printed off the directions a couple of years ago but I'm too afraid to try them.

Yes I did! I was nervous as heck and figured they'd turn out like crap because I'm so "uncrafty" but I did it! It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but it did take quite a bit of time. You should give it a try!

I cant believe you made those t shirts yourself, they are great!

Mandy... you look lovely in your dress.....princess:

SingingMom - OMG you remind me of me at one of my proms (I dated a guy from another school so I got to go to his also)... nice flashback:laughing:

DM - tell your son GREAT JOB!!!!:thumbsup2

Magic... Maggie plays the flute also... she has been taking private lessons from the woodwinds instructor at Ithica College for 5 years now... she is pretty good... like I told her... it is just that judges opinion:confused3 .... Daniel plays the alto sax (main instrument), saprano sax and a little bit of clarinet and flute.... he is really quite talented.... proud mommy here!!!

The kids did have dinner at the prom.... it was held at the Holiday Inn - they have a lovely ball room.... it was dinner then a D.J. - tickets were $45 pp..the prom was from 6pm until midnight and then there were tons of parties afterwards.....

And I think she picked that dress because it matched Mike's eyes.... they are to funny!!!!

Courtney... yes she is only 17 - will be 18 in November.... as she was walking away to get in the car I was thinking about when she left to go to school the first day.... dressed in a cute pink and white dress.... they grow up so fast... I am so lucky that I have a wonderful relationship with both my children and we are very close... not that typical teenager/parent I don't want to be around you.... we do so much together - they are both great kids.... do well in school (well most of the time...;) )

Today we have a busy day here.... going to get some flowers to plant... I have to work at an open house... then going to get Dinosaur BBQ this afternoon... yummy!!!!!

I gotta get some coffee..... going thru withdrawl.......

I am VERY impressed!! When you say quite a bit of time...how long are we talking here? I would love to try to make them.

Question for all - do any of you make your own iron on shirts for your trips? I know there is a huge thread with designs on it but I have never made any of those for us.

Maggied- Maggie looked beautiful. Great jobs on both of the kids with their NYSMA's.

LizAgna- Haley plays the clarinet , she took off with it last year in the 6th,
that her band teacher had picked her for the 7th-8th grade competition band to play the bass clarinet. With looks like the sax only it sits on the floor. That thing was as tall as she was last year, she also played it for Honor band.
She loves playing the clarinet, this year she is second chair, had the chacne to be 1th chair but didn't want the responsiblilty of it.

DS Ryan is going to try for the trumpet Monday for 6th grade band tryouts, second choice is the clarinet.

DM- great video congrats with the belt. Love the dolls.:goodvibes

DM, I just realized you have me dressed as one of those crazy old ladies - what are they called - the red hat society? They dress in purple & red and wear big, gaudy red hats! :rotfl2:
I never thought of that one, but I guess you're right! See? You fit right in! :rotfl2:

I'll get it changed later today. In the meantime...enjoy!

Our group has some very musically talented kids...I love it when they are involved in band & choir.

I may have to get some advice from all of you on an instrument purchase. Our plan now is to buy a good used instrument & if she sticks with band for a couple of years we will invest in a new one. Did any of your kids start out with used instruments?

We bought a new one for Haley and think we will bet a used one for ryan.
There wasn't any used clarinets when we went to get Haley hers.

Yeah, our Off Kilter meet is growing. It should be fun!
Hey, DM, where is MY scary doll?:confused3
I am feeling so left out!

Thanks you guys. My dress was cheaper than my makeup. Senior year is just expensive at my school. Yearbook alone was 75 bucks.

I cant believe you made those t shirts yourself, they are great!

Thanks! I need to make some more, 'cause Antonia has pretty much grown out of hers and I want one with a bit of a smaller Mickey head on the front. As it is now, Mickey's ears are exactly on my breasts and I'd prefer if they weren't! :rotfl:

Well, I'm a bit of a perfectionist so the whole drawing the mickey head and sewing around it took me a couple hours for the 3 shirts. Then the banding took probably another 30 minutes. Then you have to soak them in soda ash for, I think, about 20 minutes. Then the actually dying. Again, that took me probably 45 minutes. Then you've gotta wrap the shirts in plastic and let them sit overnight, then rinse them out and wash them. So it's quite a process, but the shirts are really cool once you're done!

I've wanted to try making iron-on shirts, but I haven't had the time to try that yet. One of these days I will, though.

When I was in school I started out with a used flute. I used it for a couple years, until my parents were sure I was going to stick with it. Then they bought me a new one.
