Patrick is the "Cut Out" guy's name.
Some one was able to post his video earlier on this thread if you want to search.
I will be shocked if he was not picked.

I can't believe some of what I thought were the best and most creative didn't make the cut.

But then, I am shocked already by some of the known finalist anyway. (Excluding Justin)
No offense fellas, but I can't believe you got picked even though some of you got the job title wrong.
For example, you wouldn't go into a Starbucks for a Barista position and call it a Bartender...right?
Oh well- good luck to you.

I agree with Tink Fatale, some of my favorites didn't seem to make it (but the ones that have, do have great videos, and I see great personalities there). But there still are 13 unaccounted for finalists (right?)...anyone care to guess whose videos are in that 13?

Luvstink listed a few and I agree, I thought the sorcerer was pretty funny too (the one that turns into a cake right?). Maybe he made it, and I know we all think the Cut-out guy (Patrick) made it. Some of the videos that I loved, people on here have already reported that they didn't make it :( So lets try to guess who did!

Maybe this will encourage the other 13 to come forward...popcorn::

Yep me too. I got your number! ;)

Did I tell all of you that I am now glad I didn't get picked? My reason - totally financial.

6 x 8 = 48

$600 is the approximate cost of airfare for my husband and son to fly to Disneyworld or Disneyland.

8 is the approximate number of trips I would be making if I were selected - and there is NO way I would be able to go without my son - he would throw a fit.

Total cost of getting the job? $4800.00

So, to quote a popular commerical, here goes:

Cost of family flying if I got the job: $4800.00
Tax I would have paid if I won the top 3: $1000.00
Money spent while working (by family): $1000.00 (minimum)

Cost of not getting selected: Priceless

Yep, that is me. My glass half full personality. Even my love of Disney is not free!

 Well, that's certainly one way to spin it! ... It's a pretty upbeat one, too! :thumbsup2

Okay... One last thought on how brilliant these contests actually are: A bazillion people enter each contest. A bazillion people spend weeks obsessing over said contest by returning repeatedly to affiliated web sites and forums. A chosen few win the contest. The remaining bazillion people (give or take a few) lick their wounds, pick themselves up, and .... race to "recapture the magic" by purchasing gobs of Disney merchandise and tickets to the Parks. :rotfl2:

I know this from personal experience. I've been there. When I didn't progress past the second round of Disney's Moms Panel contest, I began -- in earnest -- my campaign to return to Disney World. This time, I actually stood a chance, because my husband felt so sorry for me... :rolleyes1 'Guess where we were one month later?? (Yep! ... The World!)

BRILLIANT! You've gotta love it!

"Disney: It's like a [good] drug." (Howz that for an ad campaign?!? On second thought: It might not fit the Disney "image." ;) )

I'm gald you agree DSNY4ever.
I think we have the same ideas on what is entertaining.
You are the "Disney Spirit fairy" girl right?
I thought your's would totally make it. It was great!
My favorite was Kirk or Kurt the "Merlin/Cake" guy. I laughed so hard at the end of his when he referenced the original Parent Trap. TOO FUNNY! I'm hoping he makes it too.

This probably sounds awfully cliche at this point - but you guys are all awesome. I went to work, came home tired, but just spent 15 minutes catching up on all I missed. What a wonderful way to refresh after a long week at work!

Okay - I may ruffle some feathers here and I apologize beforehand :guilty:. I agree his video was cute:rotfl2: but he didn't mention what qualified him for the position. I know it was tough to get in everything they wanted in one minute but .. oh well, that's enough from me and my big mouth :dumbo: - back to normal programming.

To have ruffled feathers I'd also have to have a bird brain right? heehee.

I wanted people to SHOW ME why they were qualified- not blab a huge list of things in a boring voice over while showing me their pictures of trips they took and gigantic collections.
I wanted to see originality and Patrick has had it.
I guess I misunderstood the criteria.

Or maybe I did Tink!! Like many have said before us and many will say after it's all up to an individuals discretion!! :-)

For what it's worth, Tink Fatale is a great screen name. Something about it makes me smile . . .

'Wonder if he knows that he has a large fan club here on the DISboards? ...And I wonder if he appreciates our affectionate little nickname? "The Cut-Out Guy." It has a nice ring to it ... Don't you think? ;)

Thanks for posting!! Hey, I really like that one -- he was really creative and definitely did a lot of work on that! Now I understand what you are talking about Cut Out guy!

FLETCH I AM SO WITH YOU ON THIS!!!

I went over all the categories and rules - printed out and highlighted and and and......

Only to have some of the finalists.........well, AHHHHH!!!!!!

(sadly, this morning at 4:30 I was still thinking about specific videos and how unimpressed I was. I really felt they weren't GRADED on the scale set forth in the rules :confused3 while others WOWED me!)

I thought they would grade them all and take the 100 pointers and narrow down BUT that the 100 pointers really had to EARN the 100 points!

My favorite was Kirk or Kurt the "Merlin/Cake" guy. I laughed so hard at the end of his when he referenced the original Parent Trap. TOO FUNNY! I'm hoping he makes it too.

Can someone post the link to this one, too?

ILuvstink listed a few and I agree, I thought the sorcerer was pretty funny too (the one that turns into a cake right?). Maybe he made it, and I know we all think the Cut-out guy (Patrick) made it.

Oooh! The "Sorcerer's Apprentice"! That one was on my list of favorites, too! :thumbsup2

I also liked "1." (The guy made a "1" magically appear, pontificated about the power of "1," placed it in front of 1-million, then wrapped the video in front of a crowd in the shape of Mickey's head.) Oh, and the woman (Amy?) who spotted a not-so-hidden Mickey in her Subway sandwich droppings. ("I guess that means it's time to go to work..." Too silly! :))

With a few of my favorites, some might argue that the candidate isn't adequately "laundry-listing" their qualifications. I do believe, however, that knowledge and passion can be subtly communicated through hidden "nuggets" in the video - be it references to old Disney flicks ("So, let's get together and make this happen") or a scrolling list of clever course titles that only a Disney "insider" could appreciate. In this sound-bite age, too many words can get boring (says the girl whose posts typically ramble on for too long... ;) ).

In keeping with my promise to keep folks up to date...

Just heard from Centra Marketing... my phone interview is Tuesday.

And... time... begins.... to ........ slow........... down.........

fleagle,

I'm on for Wednesday afternoon. I'll certainly be thinking about you!
