So now that we are more welcoming today, please let us know if you are lurking, and got the call!

It seems strange to me that in the past 2 days, we've only heard about 7 going on. I've been googling and watching other boards, but that's all I've seen.

I know we'll see the top 10 by March 2, but I'd love to see all of the top 20!

I'm with you on that one Cato - I want to see the other video's come on people, fess up and share your excitement with us! We are a great group of Disney loving freaks. So don't worry!

I bet Patrick - the cutout guy - is laying real low. Cause all of the 20 still have to be narrowed down to 10 still.

<<<<< still checked caller id today to see if Centra left me out by mistake.....

Not ticked at all...

But would like to point out a flaw in your logic: being a professional and carrying the magic of Disney in your heart are not mutually exclusive.

Where can I find a good example of this? Hmmm... Oh, yeah, this guy I heard of named Walt Disney. Professional... did some amount of work in broadcasting I think. I'm not sure how well he carried Disney in his heart though. Anyone hear of that guy?

(PS- I'm just funnin' ya...maybe the guy you cited made the Top 20 and all will be well!)
In my humble opinion and after watching the 7 finalist videos that we know of, I think this post may have been targeted for one person only.... but it was painted with a pretty broad brush.

Bill, I'm sure you don't need to hear it from me - but I loved your video! Your daughter is adorable! ("That's not my name!") :)
Other highlights for me were trying to use the hotel key on your front door - very clever and unlike anything else I saw, and the use of "Marty Sklar" - - - priceless!

I second that!!! Bill I am so surprised you didn't make it, I thought you were definately part of the top twenty. At least you had fun making it. Your alternate was also very funny.

Hmmm, well, a review of the criteria:
Entertainment Value (0-20 points); Personality (0-20 points); Imaginative Presentation (0-20 points); Ability to Make People Laugh and Smile (0-20 points); and Passion for Disney (0-20 points).

There is nothing there about "magic"...which I think is not something that you can display, but is rather something innate and exuded. There is also nothing there about "qualifications" and stating them in the video. And again all of the criteria is highly subjective....what I find imaginative or entertaining or what makes me laugh is no doubt very different than others. As far as passion goes, I can guarantee no one would go throught the process of applying and making a video if they were not passionate! My all time personal favorite video (which I can't find now) was a guy that compared the process to American Idol, Miss Teen America (that bit was hilarious) and The Apprentice (sorcerer's that is) But, others may have found it annoying and offensive. And, of course, I thought mine met all the criteria, but obviously not in the judges eyes...and to be honest, after I reviewed most (I need to get a life) of the entries I knew there were at least 20 better than mine.

Also, it was stated that finalists would be given tools, etc to wage an online "campaign"...therefore, it was clear to me that the sponsers are interested in folks that can...and will....personally promote the contest. With that in mind, someone with a wide audience or someone with great technical savvy would make great candidates. We may or may not agree with this approach, but it is the way the contest was designed.

This is a good discussion...and I hope we will all help "campaign" for our favorite top ten person when the time comes!

Here is the genius of this contest...

I'm so nervous about the whole thing that I'm not doing anything but checking this thread, writing a trip report, updating my CMO blog and answering phantom phone interview questions in my head.

The end result of all of this is bound to be that I lose my job... and where will I turn?... Careerbuilder.com, of course. It seems to me that the sponsors of this contest are pretty clever. Force us all out of work then we'll come calling to them!!!

I agree with luvsTink that the Top 10 will provide a TON of free promotion for the sponsors. Seriously, what a great promotional idea for the YouTube Age.

Finally, luvsTink... did the J. Geils Band write that song about you? "LuvsTink... LuvsTink, Yeah, Yeah... LuvsTink." Congratulations! (People under 30 are currently going... "what is he talking about?")

J. Geils Band write that song about you? "LuvsTink... LuvsTink, Yeah, Yeah... LuvsTink."
Yeah Yeah....luvsTink

:rotfl:

Don't kid youself, most people under 40 are doing this :confused3

and as far as the careerbuilder site....I am already there pouring over jobs....anyone interested in interviewing an out of work dreamer, just call
867-5309, ask for Jenny.....:rotfl:

Yeah Yeah....luvsTink

you are funny!

Wow, haven't heard of the J. Giels band for a while. lol Thanks for bringing back memories!

And fleagle - I hear you! Even though I didn't win, on the 6th and 7th all I did was check the boards, carry around my phone, answer even calls that didn't have a called id name (too many stinking sales people. lol) and now for me the pressure is off, but for you it carries on.

To bad we don't have any inkling of what the questions for the phone interview would be. That would be so fun to help you 7 with!

Hello...I'm Tink Fatale...and I'm a "lurker".

I've been a lurker since the CMO contest deadline.
And yes- I submitted a video that I thought met the contest criteria.

Other than the "notified 7" we know of- does anyone know for sure who the other finalists are?

I've always really liked Justin.

Did the "Cut Out" guy make it? He is -by far- my favorite.:worship:

I also really liked Tiffany the Alice/Caterpiller/Mad Hatter girl.
These two were inventive and funny.

HA! I sort of equate that with a dentist who hands out buckets of candy on Halloween night -- along with his business card! :scared1:

It seems to me that the sponsors of this contest are pretty clever.

One thing is certain: They definitely know how to create a "buzz." I've always been intrigued by Disney's marketing genius! Think about all of the endless hours that the contestants -- and even some of us "lurkers" -- have recently devoted to hitting the Careerbuilder.com web site and obsessing about everything Disney. Yep, they've got us in the palms of their hands...

Side note: Then again, I'm [almost] always obsessing about Disney ... This merely gave me another good excuse to do so. :rolleyes1

AGGGGGH! Now I have that song in my head... ;)

Yep me too. I got your number! ;)

Did I tell all of you that I am now glad I didn't get picked? My reason - totally financial.

6 x 8 = 48

$600 is the approximate cost of airfare for my husband and son to fly to Disneyworld or Disneyland.

8 is the approximate number of trips I would be making if I were selected - and there is NO way I would be able to go without my son - he would throw a fit.

Total cost of getting the job? $4800.00

So, to quote a popular commerical, here goes:

Cost of family flying if I got the job: $4800.00
Tax I would have paid if I won the top 3: $1000.00
Money spent while working (by family): $1000.00 (minimum)

Cost of not getting selected: Priceless

Yep, that is me. My glass half full personality. Even my love of Disney is not free!

I have this sneaky feeling that NONE of the people who were part of the transmission site crashing last day thingie got selected.

I also firmly believe that cutout guy made it and is not talking so as to not create a buzz before the narrowing down - AND I think that is the case for the "others" (Lost reference) who have not come forward yet as well.

Just sayin'

Ok, now I need to see the video of "cut-out" guy...can you please post the link? Thanks!
