DISer chapter of NKOTB anonymous, part 3... still goin' strong!

Did your sister say that to him in person?! :rotfl2:

This incident just made me think differently of him. I mean, I know he has to be tired from working so much (so don't sign up for extra parties!) And it was unbearably hot, especially after performing in that heat. I get that, I do! BUT, at least have the decency to tell us and to APOLOGIZE! If it weren't for us, you would be nothing!

I'm feeling happy I didn't talk to him at the photo op!:rotfl:

Oh yes, she did. :rotfl: She'd had quite a few drinks and did not even hesitate to say it. The look on his face was priceless. His eyes got all big and his mouth dropped open. He didn't know what to say.

He's very charismatic onstage but when I met him I was not impressed!

I remember that night. Even though we paid for VIP I ended up locked out of the VIP. What a mess!

VIP was a disaster and they ended up kicking everyone out after awhile. It was ridiculous. I'm done with NKOTB after parties!

I've always kind of thought Donnie was more of an onstage persona than a real person. I know that sounds silly...but I kind of think of all of them that way. I would never do VIP for that reason --- I don't want it to ruin my image of them. I know that they are people with lives and they are doing these tours and m&g's for money. It's a job. I want to live in my fantasy world where they are rock stars and they are who they portray. LOL I think Donnie is full of himself, I think Joe is big ol' goofy dork in real life, Jon is super funny and dirty in his real life, Jordan -- he's a family man - Danny, same thing. I know those are skewed views.

At the show, my friend and I were talking about the "sexy" factor. Everyone screams when they guys show off...however, in my real life fantasy situation, I know that if Joe was trying to be sexy to woo me, I'd never take him seriously...same with Jordan. Jon, well he's gay so that wouldn't happen anyway. I don't see Danny that way in the first place. However...Donnie? He OOZES sexy -- on stage. I'd take him seriously if he was trying be sexy for me --- in my fantasy real world. LMAO

I try not to take any of it too seriously anymore. I don't want to meet any famous people for all of the same reasons. I don't want my perceptions/fantasies ruined like I've seen happen with NKOTB.

Not silly at all! I'm a Donnie girl from way back and I totally agree with Donnie being an "onstage persona." All 3 times I've done some type of M&G with them/him, he has been very quiet and didn't seem happy. Kind of wish I'd not ruined that, but then I always would've wondered. I still love watching him onstage....I guess I'll just stick with that from now on!

Funny how we have our perceptions of them in "real life.". I see Joe as being the one most full of himself, by far. He's turned into my least favorite NK because of it. I don't see him being goofy or dorky...unless it's put on. Donnie is a workaholic and probably
not much of a father because of it :( but he lives to perform. I think Jordan is the goofy dork in real life and is kind of shy. Jon, like you said, funny and dirty. Danny, family man, but a player ;)

Good call about not ruining your fantasies :thumbsup2

Really? Joe as being full of himself? What makes you think that? I don't think that at all. I think he's a dork lol.

O.M.G!!!! How did I just discover this group?????

Well, hellooooooooo!!!! I am a Donnie girl from way back in the day, and finally met him last month at the Mohegan Sun afterparty....I immediately became the most socially awkward person on the face of the planet!!! :rotfl2:

That's ok though!!! I will have a redo in a couple of weeks at the Manchester, NH show!!! :dance3:

Ha, my "real life" perceptions of them fall pretty much in line with yours!

I will say that back in the day, Donnie was my least favorite, by far. I mean, I used to cut him out of group photos. :rotfl: I was not much for the bad boys, apparently. However, since the reunion, my opinion has totally changed and he zoomed right up to number 2. I think his biggest problem is that he overpromises and then sometimes underdelivers because he has too much going on, but overall from my experiences with him, I really do think he cares quite a lot. Having said that, he should have said something about that afterparty disaster!

I was also nervous that meeting them would somehow ruin my dreamy, 10 year old imagined views of them but the reality has been quite the opposite. I feel like it is difficult to live up to the expectations of a 10 year old girl but they actually turned out to be better than my expectations! Maybe I have just been lucky in having good experiences in the times I have met them.

I think I'm officially over the reunion. The novelty has worn off for me and I'm not loving that anything involving NKOTB is getting more & more expensive. I wasn't even that excited to see them at Mixtape! They played for an hour and I came away saying 'I had more fun the first night when I saw Train.' Oh well. It was fun while it lasted girls!

Crystal!! We need an update

So I met up with Elena and Karen in Manchester for the concert. It was awesome as always. Biggest disappointment was that the after party was cancelled 4 hours after we got the e-mail giving us the details. We were bummed, but we still had fun. Elena lucked out and scored front row tix a few days before the concert, so she wasn't sitting with us, but she was pretty near us.

I went with someone different to this concert, not my usual NKOTB friend so it was a different experience for me, but still fun.

I'm anxious to see if they have one last cruise. If so I am definitely going. I think Elena is going to try to go too. She and her friend have gone to Albany last night and are at Buffalo tonight. They are having a blast.

When I got to work on Friday, I regaled my coworkers with all the security sketchiness happening in front of us. When I was done, my coworker asked "Did you even watch any of the show???" Anyway, it was great to meet you!

Hey, girls! Just got back to SA after a waaaaayyyyyy too long trip to Minnesota and Iowa. Three weeks is a long time to travel alone with 3 kids a 75 pound dog and a sick cat! Spent the first week at the lake in Minnesota and then spent the weekend with my two college besties, my high school bestie and her friend. We all went to a summerfest in my sister-in-laws suburb on Friday night to see Firehouse, Warant and Bret Michaels and then saw The Package Tour on Saturday night! Awesome weekend!!! What a great 80's throwback weekend! We had great weather on Saturday for the NKOTB show so we checked into our hotel downtown early and went to a rooftop bar before the show, then met up with my cousin and her friends after. We had a chance to see a lot of the girls that we met way back before The Block was released at the Mall of America. It was super fun! Front row doesn't hurt either, but now we are totally spoiled! Great show, great time! So sad I only saw it once!!!

Finally back in FL after two weeks in NH and what turned out to be 3 shows....oops! So here is how it went down.....

7/25 Manchester-
We were supposed to be sitting with Crystal and Karen. At the last minute 2 first row seats came available. So we bought them. I was able to easily sell my other tickets. We went to dinner with Crystal and her friend Emily and had a great time. Every other girl in there was going to the show so they played NKOTB songs.

When we got to the arena they were already letting people stand at the barricade so we got out bracelets and staked out a spot amongst all of the girls who paid WAY more than us!

Boyz II Men were awesome and Shelby got a rose from Wanya, which would begin their 4 show romance! I really enjoyed some of 98 Degrees, but at this show Justin, the not hot one earned the nickname "that guy" from us because we didn't know his name at the time. We didn't care too much about 98 Degrees so we were chatting. Drew sees Shelby and make a beeline for her and runs and jumps on the barricade in front of her. She wasn't even paying attention! It was hilarious, there he was trying to look all sexy to her and she was like "Oh hey, where did you come from?" Nick sang to the girl next to me and she was very happy.

Between 98 Degrees and NKOTB one of the photographers came up and was talking to Shelby. I'll have to post a picture later but Shelby made a dress out of her NKOTB sheets. It was strapless and showed of her tattoos and Shelby is very 50's pinup. They were chatting about tattoos and things. He was super nice. Shelby had shorts under her dress so she pulled up her dress and showed him the tattoo on her side. There were these annoying girls standing behind us, not front row. They saw this and they said "Wait, what are we doing here? We have b@ @bs! We'll show you our b@ @bs!" :rotfl2::rotfl: Super desperation and we got to laugh at them! Brian was super and took some photos of us while the show was going on. He sent Shelby one during the show but nothing else yet! He's busy being the photographer for the Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins I guess. Lame! Since the after party was cancelled they exchanged numbers in case anything fun happened after the show.

After the show we met up with Crystal and Karen and tried to find the buses but they were in a fenced in area. We ended up just going home.

Oh wait, the highlight of the show for me...Jon waved to me. Not to everyone near me, but ME! He looked down, I waved and he waved back. :cool1: Yep, I'm a total loser and I am okay with that!

A bit of foreshadowing when I got the email that the after party was cancelled and told my husband he called and said he had checked the vipnation website and they still had AP tickets for Albany and that we should go. Yeah, thanks John, we can't go to Albany, but I appreciate the sentiment!

After the show I just enjoyed hanging out with my family. When the email came out about RSVPing for free tickets to Columbus and Indy I tried for it. Shelby and said we'd go to both, why not! It meant I'd have to totally change my schedule and back out of a workshop I was supposed to go to but they were free tickets!

On Wednesday Shelby and I went to lunch and decided we'd do lunch again on Friday before I left Saturday morning. Well that afternoon I got the tweet that would alter our plans...ha ha!

I was driving with my sister and got the tweet that more AP tickets were coming out for Albany and Buffalo. I called Shelby and she talked it over with her boyfriend and he said "Why don't you do both?" Umm yes, I think we will! So with a little drama from my phone being a pain we bought AP tickets to both. We didn't have show tickets, but said we'd buy cheap tickets since we already sat front row and we were really just going for the after party.

The trip had too many highlights to list so I'll come back when James is napping!

James is super entertained by his toys since he hasn't seen them in two weeks so let's get started!

We left Thursday at noon bound for Albany. The ride was about 4 hours and went very quickly. I had pricelined the Hilton Downtown Albany two blocks from the show. I just bought tickets from stubhub. They were originally $37 but as I was checking out a message came up that said "The owner of these tickets changed the price to $35. Do you still want to make this purchase?" Yes, please! Score! They were on the side 5 rows up in the section that Joe comes out into.

We got ready and headed out to find some food. We ate at Dallas Hot Weiners next to the arena. The food was decent and cheap. The waitress had an addition problem but we rectified it. Thankfully I can add! She gave us a handwritten slip for $24.60. But our food only totaled $15.60. You could tell she just made an error in her addition and wasn't trying to scam us.

Next we made our way to the arena and found the after party check in. While we were waiting in line we started chatting with the girls behind us because they loved Shelby's dress. They asked us if it was just the two of us and where our seats were. Then they told us they had found closer seats and asked if we wanted the seats they weren't going to use. I wanted to make she I understood her right so I said "We can't pay for these." And she said, no, she wanted to give them to us. Ummm yes, we'll take 7th row floor seats! Turns out they are from the Orlando area too. I told her when she asked if it was just the two of us I thought she was going to ask if we wanted to be in an after party photo group with them. We laughed and decided to be a photo group together.

We found our seats. You know how there are 3 sections behind the stage? Well we were in the section to the left (the same section as Orlando and Manchester incidentally) on the aisle next to the center section. Security was awesome about keeping people out of the aisle so we had a fantastic view! At this point we still didn't have tickets to Buffalo, just AP tickets. The selection on stubhub was not great and I knew we could not sit in the nosebleeds for two reasons: 1. We're spoiled and 2. I am terrified of heights so I would be sitting the whole time and wouldn't be able to see anything. Out of curiosity I checked the venue website to see what they had available. They had 3rd row in the same section we were in. So what does any self respecting NKOTB fan do during the 98 Degrees set....they buy tickets to the show the following night on their cell phone. So much for cheap seats!

Anyway, the show was great in Albany. Danny pointed out Shelby's dress from the stage and said he liked it!

We made our way to the after party and that's where things go exciting for me! A little back story first....In 2009 when NKOTB did the Christmas show I met Donnie. I stood there frozen, could not even utter a word or even move. In 2009 I met Donnie at Foxwoods and again, I let other girls get in front of me for a picture, I didn't say anything to him, it was awful. It's been part of why I am hesitant to do a cruise. Why pay so much money and then just stand there if I happen to see one of them?

We were in line for our photo for the after party and somehow I made my way to the front of our little group of 4. I decided I wanted to stand with a New Kid, any New Kid. It's only Donnie and BoyzIIMen guaranteed but typically a few other New Kids come. Shelby had claimed Donnie. When it was our turn I walked in and saw Jordan. I went straight to him, said "Hey. I'm going to stand with you," put my arm around him and got ready for the picture. I felt someone touching me to the right and I turned and it was Donnie! Just like Melody, I had accidentally ended up in a Jordan Donnie sandwich! After the picture I turned to Jordan and thanked him and then turned to Donnie and put my hand on his arm and thanked him.

WAIT A MINUTE....did the girl who just stands there take control, go right up to Jordan and then CLEARLY and COHERENTLY just speak to TWO New kids? Who am I?

Shelby ended up between Jordan and Wanya. Wanya loved Shelby's tattoos and would rub them each time he saw her over the next two days.

The after party was fun. The guys stayed on stage but we didn't get into the mob in front of the stage. The music was super loud since we were in a basement so we stood back more and just watched. Stanley, their drummer came over and complimented Shelby's eyes. Patrick, their stylist, complimented Shelby's dress and said he liked her look.

As we are standing there who appears...Wanya! So like the newly reformed in control girl I am I toss Shelby my phone and tell her to take a picture of Wany and I and I just walk over to him, put my arm around him and ask him for a picture. Again, who am I? Well he looks to the camera and sees Shelby is taking the picture and drops me like a hot potato and runs over to her before she can take a picture. He hugs her and rubs her tattoos again (on her arm and back by the way). Like the good friend I am I grab the camera and start shooting some pictures. When he is done Shelby, like the good friend she is, says don't forget to take a picture with my friend so he comes back to me. He takes me into the biggest hug I have ever had! Then, he kissed me. :faint: I told him we'd see him at Epcot in October, because truthfully, I normally see Boyz II Men free at the Food and Wine Fest.

I had a cold this whole time and my ears hurt and the music was making it worse so we went outside the party where the guys have to leave from. We watched Donnie go but there were too many fans and security guys around him. We stayed to see who else would come out and we looked down the hall. There was "that guy" from 98 Degrees. I looked at Shelby and said, What the heck! Let's get a picture with him!

This whole encounter was hilarious! He had a bandaid on his elbow that was falling off. A fan was standing next to him trying to put it back on while he was taking pictures with others. :confused3 She was also trying to talk to him. She kept asking him questions and he tried to answer but he was busy. Finally she says in a loud annoyed voice "Well, you're obviously busy." Uhh, yes, he is busy! It was so awkward. It was like she thought it was just herself and him in the hallway and that the other 50 girls did not exist. I got a picture with him. By that time the party was over so we left and went back to our hotel.

If you're keeping count at home I initiated contact with 2 NKOTB members, a Boyz II Men member and a 98 Degrees member!

I'll be back later to share the Buffalo show. And our debacle getting there!

One last update.....

We said we would sleep in Friday morning in Albany but my body is incapable of sleeping past 8:30! Shelby had some phone calls to make, I needed to book a room for the that night in Buffalo and try to change my flight to Sunday hopefully so we ended up leaving later than we thought we would.

We decided to drive to Niagara Falls first and just get a picture. The took forever and we ended up getting to our hotel, which was 15 mins from the arena, at 6:45! We got ready quickly, ate a muffin for dinner that we had packed from home and made it to the area just after 7:30. We were really hoping to check in for the AP before the show but the email said that check in ended at 7. Luckily they were still putting the table away and they were able to check us in!

We found our seats and I was having crazy anxiety. We were running late all day, I wasn't feeling well, I was nervous about driving home, 8 hours, after the after party, and I was super nervous I would miss my flight! After 98 Degrees Shelby could tell I needed to mellow out so she made me go get a beer! I have never had a beer so big, but it did relax me!

The show was great again. Joey brought Griffin out and he is just so dang cute! I bet he will be a performer one day! Danny noticed Shelby's dress again from the stage. He was yelling to her and the girl in front of us stood on a chair between them so he would notice her and he said, no not you, the girl behind you. :rotfl2: Priceless!

Donnie and I had a stare off. We made eye contact for so long it was almost uncomfortable. But I did not look away!

We left the show one song early to get in line for the after party. The girls behind us were there for the first time so we grouped up with them. We ended up being the second group in line. A single girl asked to join us so we had a group of 5. It was her 56th show....yes I said 56th show! She has done all 5 cruises too. It was her 7th after party so she said she didn't care who she stood with. Good, because I have newly discovered myself as tough and I'm going to push you if you go for Jon! ;) I had a foot in mouth moment when I commented on the girls who do multiple 5 stars and ultimates. She had done a ton and had a front row 5 star and a total package coming in Indy and Columbus. Ooops!

While we were next up I peeled back the curtain a bit to see who was in there and got yelled at....ooops! It is just such a short amount of time, I just wanted to be prepared! And Jon was there! Yes! He was talking to someone when our group came in. The newly gutsy me walked right up to him and told him I wanted to stand with him. He led me to the end and put his arm around me for the picture. Then I turned to him and said I heard he gives the best hugs, may I have one. And he hugged me! :faint: Oh lord!

We did join the crowd for the beginning of the after party. There were many arguments in there. Once the guys were mostly in the back tent part and only Jon was left on stage DJing we went to the back of the the crowd. There Stanley remembered Shelby from the night before and we chatted with him. As we're talking to him this desperate girl comes up and is hanging on him begging him to take her to the area where the guys were. He kept saying no. I stood behind her laughing and Stanley was making faces at me! Priceless! It was so awful! Finally she walked away and I told Stanley that there is nothing more fun than watching desperation at a New Kids show! We kept chatting with Stanley and he offered to give Shelby his number. So Shelby gave him her phone and he put his number in. Well the girl from before saw this and came running over saying "I have 1% battery left...put your number in quick." He took her phone and typed something in but I am sure it was a fake number. He was super nice!

After the party we drove home, 8 hours. We were good until Albany and then we had to take a quick hour nap at a rest stop. Boy that was scary for me! But we made it in time! We got home at 11, I didn't need to leave for the airport until 1. James and I made our flight and I promptly handed him off to John when we got home and went to bed! I was exhausted!

All in all we had a fantastic time! I think I love them more now than I did a month ago. Crystal mentioned we're going to try for the cruise. I'm trying to convince Shelby that it is a good use of her money! Especially now that I don't run from NKOTB members! It was a long 3 days and cost a bit more than we wanted but it was so worth it!

I had free tickets to Columbus from the NKOTB giveaway but my mom said she would have called child services if I had left James with her another night for an NKOTB show! I was super thankful she watched him for the three days we were gone as it was! I wish I was going to Indy tonight though! (ETA: The girls that gave us their unused floor seats in Albany needed tickets to Columbus so since I couldn't use them I had them put them in her name and she used them!)

Melody is going...HAVE FUN MELODY!!

Love your stories Elena! And yay for speaking! :cheer2: and the Donnie/Jordan sandwich!

I'm almost home now from Columbus. Ready for my front row seats tonight!

Columbus was so fun! There were already end of tour shenanigans going on, such as stage mgr Rocko coming out singing Mony Mony while all 3 groups were on stage. It was funny but horrible singing! Wanya was doing funny dances like mashed potato :rotfl2: I missed B2M singing w/ 98 degrees though...they cut that :( and Sweet Caroline :( Griffin came on stage to sing Tonight though. So cute!

My hubby loved B2M. He was getting into nkotb too..singing a little and dancing :). He said he'd go again.

I went to both the Cleveland show on 6/9 and last night in Columbus. Both shows were amazing. It was my first time seeing them live, and they did not disappoint.

Front row for the Indy show was the best! :jumping1:

I have my pics posted on Facebook now if you haven't seen them. The show is already amazing, but this one was extra special. Boyz II Men sang One Sweet Day with all 3 groups up there, a ton of us held up hearts that said BH Love during the Icona Pop segment and the guys looked touched, during Hangin' Tough the other two groups attacked nkotb with water guns and totally messed them up and soaked them! Two of the Boys II Men got up on the individual risers. After Hangin' Tough they did Crash with all groups up there! So exciting! It was wonderful! So glad they did the final show in my hometown so I could be there! Check out some of the youtube videos of the end. It was bittersweet. Jon was getting really teary and they were all hugging a lot.

Since I had front row seats that were right in front of the right side front piece that sticks out, I got to stand right there and got to get up very close to everyone who walked out on it, and even got to touch hands and make eye contact with Nick and Drew, a couple of the Boyz II Men, and Jon! I just had the time of my life at this show! pixiedust:

Sounds like almost everyone had a great time with their Package Tour shows! I think this tour was the perfect combination of bands. Is it too early to start dreaming that they will tour together again?!! :goodvibes

At the Indy show Jordan said "this is not the end." :thumbsup2

Here is a great long video of the entire ending from the start of Hangin' Tough. http://youtu.be/q8QeZ8fdLjk
