I need shopping help!!! I have NO idea what to get for my sister-in-law this year. I am seriously stumped. She has everything and is a "only the best" kind of girl. Anyone else still trying to figure out what to get people on your shopping list?

Good Morning Everyone!!! I got in late last night from our trip to Disney World. We had a pretty good time. I haven't had a chance to go back and read what I missed, but I will!! Here are some highlights, MVMCP, ride breakdowns, short lines, trips to the hospital, and lots of NKOTB!!! It was a great trip. I'll give details later, but right now I'm off to do "normal life" things like the grocery store, ugh!! Any other shopping I'm all about, but something about the grocery store. Anyway it's great to be back and I can't wait to catch up with ya'll.

Welcome back! Sounds like an interesting trip and I cannot wait fro the details! Have fun at the grocery store... it is my least favorite place!

I've barely made a dent in my shopping! My SIL and grandmother are paticularly hard to shop for. Everytime you ask them what they want, you get "Oh I don't know." And they most likely will already have whatever you get them. You would think gift cards would be an answer but my grandmother NEVER uses them!! :headache:

I am in the same boat. My SIL is hard to buy for and this year she is preg. So it is really hard to buy something that is for HER (that she doesnt have) not baby related or house related. I am completly STUMPED. Still have SO many gifts to buy, With my husband not working until last week, we really got a LATE start on the shopping. I am just dreading the whole process now.

I don't blame you! It's so much preparation for ONE DAY! I wish I were a kid again so I'd enjoy it more.
I'm not a grinch. Really. I like Christmas, once it's actually here. It's just getting ready for it that bugs me.

With the trip to Disney I haven't even started my Christmas shopping. The hubby and I are going out this Saturday to do most of it. Well everything but his and mine since we will be together. I'll probably be able to stick him in a hunting section somewhere and do his shopping though!! He won't even know the difference. We are cutting back with adults this year in our family. We're basically focusing on the kids. Which helps a lot.

Jenny105....gift cards are my "go to" when I don't know what to get someone too. Must be frustrating to know that your grandmother won't use them. Good luck finding something special for her.

hmdavid - Hmmm...ideas for a difficult person to buy for, huh? How about tickets to a concert or something? A gift certificate for a spa?

Brae's Mom - Welcome back. MUST GET DETAILS!!! Trip(s) to the hospital??? Lots of NKOTB? FILL US IN!!! You haven't started shopping yet? Oh my gosh, just thinking about that makes me a wreck! I'm such a freak about doing things ahead of time. Good luck this weekend!!!!

jenny105 - wow, your grandmother and SIL seem VERY difficult!

lovemickeya - the spa idea I mentioned above might be nice for your SIL. Just a day of pampering! Or what about one of those pregnancy massages?

Well, I did speak with someone at the hospital about the situation that took place last week. I made a complaint and was assured that they would immediately put up a curtain or a screen of some sort. I feel better knowing it won't happen to anyone else.

I finished off my Christmas shopping today. I just had to get some gifts for my good friends children and some teachers. I'm now FINISHED except for stocking stuffers. I'll probably go get those tomorrow while the kids are in school and the hubby is at work.

Thankfully we only have to buy for two adults in the family. We do a Polyanna which is better than buying for all the grown ups!

So, what did you guys ask for Christmas? My hubby and I usually don't buy for each other except for a couple of things. He only asked for some game for his MAC and I asked for a book (Twilight) and Uggs. My current Uggs have a big hole in them and they leak when it's wet out. So, I need a new pair. We also got a Wii Fit for the family. How about you guys???

Shelby

Girls good luck with the shopping, thankfully I am done!

A few years back i made up a basket for my grandma of her little favorite things, there was a pack of her favorite cookies, knee highs, a new bookmark, her favorite mints she kept in her purse for church, a word serch book and a few other 'little' thing I cant remember, but things she used and always bought herself~
She loved it!!!! She said to me "its the little things that count in life and you put some of mine in a basket" I'll never forget it! Maybe something like that is the way to go :goodvibes
grocery store gift certificates are my new 'go to' gift;)

Wish me luck, I have to be at the hospital tomorrow morning at 5:30am:sad2: for my neck surgery. I am a little stressed and starting to freak a little, I'll be glad when its all over and done with.:sad1:

hopefully I can check in over the weekend, I should be home thursday or friday (I hope) so i will chat with you guys then :wave2:

:grouphug:

I asked for a nice docking station for my Ipod. I feel ghetto at home when I prop up my laptop to blare music.

I want to hear more about the hospital trips and WDW. It sounds more interesting than my trip, even though it was a lot of fun.
The most drama I had was getting into it with a cheer dad on the Magical Express. He was eavesdropping on my conversation with my husband about how RUDE and ANNOYING it was for 40 pre-teen girls to be screaming cheers in unison a la "Bring It On" on the small metal canister called a bus. I didn't really voice my opinion of "NOOOO!" a bit louder until one of the adults turned around and said "Hey girls, I'm calling Miss So-and-so and let's ALL sing happy birthday to her." Seriously, could it not wait until, say, you are outside and not wedged in a bus with adults, babies and most of all, a driver trying to maneuver the road???
Anyway, after I cried "NOOO!" a bit louder, man in question turned around in his seat in front of me and told me "If you think that is annoying, it's nothing compared to your complaining."
OH NO HE DIDN'T!
Then he told me I shouldn't be taking the free transportation, that I should pay to get a cab next time. Let's just say I had some words for him, and they had to do with "rude," "manners," and basically "mind your own business."
My sister was a cheer mom and told me after the fact some of those adults are in their own world. Now I see it!
Just a vent!
But I did have the last laugh ... I got upgraded to Yacht Club while he had to stay at All Stars with hundreds of ones just like his group ... I wonder if he was so defensive after a day or two of that!

We will all be thinking of you. Hope it all goes smoothly.

SHELBY: LOVE the ideas for SIL (I knew my Dis friends would come through with some Ideas).

I am NEVER going to get my shopping finished. I am just counting down the days until my brother comes home from Basic training- THEN I will be in the Christmas spirit. Once he gets back, then I will be in panic MODE.

Have any of you checked out the ELFS on the NKOTB site. TOO funny, My DS9 found it since I sent him to the website to look at the "store" of the shirt I would like to have for Christmas (even though I know it is too late to get it here before then).

To everyone that still has shopping to do, good luck! I have read to expect big sales in the flyers on Sunday :woohoo: I have soooo much shopping to do and I have had at least one child home sick since last Thursday. Looks like we are making another trip to the Dr. tomorrow. This is when it really sucks to have DH gone, I cannot get anything done with sick kiddos!!!

Brae's mom... still waiting for those details :rolleyes1
Shelby... glad you made a complaint. You definitely did the right thing. I am getting a Wii fit, too! Can't wait! Santa is bringing the Wii, and my inlaws got me the Wii fit!

Dana... good luck tomorrow. We will all be thinking of you.:grouphug:

Angey... :cheer2: ... SORRY! I had to do it!

And now, what I found on the nkotb board tonight, the SPUD STUd is at it again... drumroll, please...

Heather, don't worry, I was considering adding that little cheer monkey myself on my original post. :cheer2:

Brae's mom... still waiting for those details :rolleyes1

That's a good idea! I was thinking about getting one of those miniature christmas trees and attaching a bunch of scratch off tickets (she LOVES them) to it like ornaments. She also loves her word puzzles but she has so many of those books already, I think. Thanks for the help! :)

Hope all goes well with your surgery! I'll keep you in my thoughts.

I'm glad you spoke to someone at the hospital about what happened to you. Hopefully it won't happen to anyone else.

I asked for new Uggs. Mine have the same problem yours do. I also asked for the Twilight books. I just finished the first one so now I want the other 3! And I need a new cell phone because mine is cracked and dented and I don't think there's much life left in it...

Ugh, I just typed out a whole long post with quotes and all and the stinkin computer froze! :headache: I hate windows. So here's a condensed version. I'm sure I'll miss a few.

Danalee - Hope things are going well today. You'll be in my thoughts. Also I love the basket idea. I did this for my grandma too. Sadly she passed away July 07 after a 7 month battle with ovarian cancer. I can't believe how strong she was at age 84. Give those Grandmothers an extra long hug this Christmas!

Shelby - glad something is getting put up. It's unfortunate it had to happen but at least it no one else will have to go thru it.

Angey - Ugh! Teenagers make my skin crawl. I told my mom I was sending my 2 to her when they turn 12 1/2. I want to be sure I get them to her early enough.

I'm still not done shopping. I could start in August and still not be done early. I just can't do it.

I'm lovin' Donnie's hot potato! :rolleyes1
