Planning on going DC in August, but where it's the first time for my kids (15, 13 & 8) we wanted to spend as much time in DW as possible. Does DC sell just a package for DC only or are you inclined to purchase the packages with all the other sites too??

The only way to get a DC only package (without seaworld/aquatica or busch) is to buy a seasons pass to Aquatica, Seaworld or Busch gardens and use that pass to buy your DC tickets. This can really be a deal if you do NOT want to attend those parks since you only need to buy one seasons pass to buy all your DC tickets. There is a thread about that from a few days ago. I think they said with their pass they could get a dolphin package for $169 and a day guest package for $69 per person.

If when crunching the numbers for your family, this does not save you money, then just buy your DC day and don't worry about "wasting" the other things. Those are just an add on to help you not feel bad about spending so much for a day. Just realize it is a full day experience. I was looking at the new AK tour and it is $250 for 3 hours. :scared1: I decided to go back to DC instead! We do use the extras for one day at Sea World, but if your time in Orlando is limited, then just forget that you have them!

Thanks JLR...I do remember reading that earlier today. I was just hoping that they just offered the day package without the extra parks to help keep the cost down. We are going to be down there from Friday to Friday and basically lose 2 days due to our flight arrangments, Oh well. If we have to have the other parks tickets, then maybe we'll do Sea World too.

Yes I was the one that did that. I bought an annual pass to Bg just in case we have time. I'm about 95% sure we won't have time to drive to tampa. The pass cost 117.00. Since you are going in August your savings will be much greater than mine. The cost in August is about 289.00. You will be saving $120 a person x 5 minus the 117 for the pass. The pass would definetly save you money.

BTW I loved your trip report. It is what got me thinking about going to DC.

I did this too....except I bought 1 Aquatica season pass for $117 w/tax. We are going on Easter Sunday (4 of us) and regular price for dolphin swim is $259/person and day guest $129/person. I'm "saving" a total of $290 by purchasing tickets this way.....and DH & I can go to Aquatica the next day for $46 with free parking while our DD23 and DS16 do Harry Potter at Universal. :thumbsup2
