Just got back from our vacation and Discovery Cove was the highlight!!
We checked in, got our wetsuits because it was only about 50 when we got there. The wet suits keep you very warm and they come in sizes to fit everyone.
We snorkled for the longest time. We were unable to dive down at all. So don't worry about not staying afloat, you'll have no problems.
Got our pictures with the stingrays. They're not feeding them now because of the baby rays, but it's still a lot of fun. We then went to the bird room (go in early morning for lots of excitement!)
Time for the dolphin swim. We got Dixie! Had a wonderful time with her. The photos weren't the greatest, but that was our only dissapointment.
On our way out, we mentioned it to a staff member and she said that on slow days (there were only about 450 people there our day) you can pay and extra $55 - and swim again with the dolphins!
It's called double dipping........
This time we got Rose! Again a wonderful time and the pictures came out great!!!! I also did the birthday package and it was worth it. My dd got extra interaction/video/picture time. Tyler (the dolphin from the pod next to us) brought my dd her birthday buoy! Very cute! She also got a delicious four layer cake, camera and t-shirt.
We'll be back to DC I'm sure!!!!!
Any questions, let me know.....:wave2:

Sounds great was that $55 each for a reswim on slow days:jester:

yeah the $55- was for each person, but it was worth it. We really enjoyed getting in the pool again with the dolphins. They all have such different personalities so it was great. I figured it would be a while before we got back to DC so it was worth the extra $$ for another fun ride!!!! It seemed like the afternoon time was longer, but I'm not sure. In the a.m. we got Dixie. In the afternoon, we had Rose and then Tyler came by with my dd's birthday buoy and CJ came over for a while too.
Lots of fun!!!!!

Thanks for letting us know I agree $55 per person pretty good glad u had a good time:jester:

Sounds great. I am surprising my 2 children with a trip spring break for xmas. I found 2 dolphin beanie babies and i am thinking I'll hang them on the tree with a Discovery Cove flyer . They have heard all about it from our best friends but have no idea about Universal or IOA. We are stayingat HRH and can't wait. We are also going to Sw and Cirque De Soleil and maybe WetnWild. it makes me so tired thinking about it all. Any tips let me know!!

with the weather only being 50 degrees, were you guys real cold or was it okay? We are going in January

It warmed up to about 65, but we were fine. Get there early for the best choice of wetsuits. We checked in about 7:45am. Many of the swim areas are very warm. The wet suits keep you very warm!!!!!!
Have fun and if it's slow that day, ask for a double dip and swim again with the dolphins!!!!!!

Making me excited to go back!! We went in May 2002 and we got engaged there :) Then we are going back for our HM in June 2004. We aren't doing the dolphin swim though-at least I dont think so. We did get a great deal on a hotel, so maybe now we can splurge and do the dolphin swim again. Our first time we got Haley and it was raining all day and pretty cool but u are right about the wetsuits keeping you warm :)

Friends of ours just came back and double dipped too! (no price increase yet:teeth: )
Can't wait to go back in 2005!:wave2:
