Discover Apple Pay 10% Back - In Store Purchase

I just checked out of Poly and I had 5 employees helping me for 3 days trying to get the apple pay to work. Finally heard back from Disney IT that it does NOT work at the parks and that they will be doing an update to their system. The Poly employee said it may be 2 weeks or more. We go back in December, so I hope it is working then. I also tried several stores at WDW to see if it would work, but no success. I was successful using it at the Disney Store in Texas... apparently the WDW systems and Disney Store sytems are not linked in any way.
Thanks for letting me know. I HOPE that is works by the time I go in 4 weeks, but I certainly am not counting on it.

Was there any place at Disney World that you tried that you can confirm it DID work?

No, none worked with Discover, unfortunately. Tried Space Mountain, Emporium, Confectionary, Mickey's Gift Station, BVG at Contemporary and Bou-Tiki at Polynesian Village. All worked with other cards on Apple Pay.

An alternative would be to purchase Disney gift cards from a merchant that takes Apple Pay and then lug those with you to WDW. BJ's sells them at a small discount.

Has anyone received the 10% Apple Pay/Discover bonus on ANYTHING? Frequent Flyer blogs are very quiet.

Technically, yes you can. The bonus is supposed to exclude gift cards though.

I was excited (go figure) to check my statement today and did not receive any bonus cashback. I found out that it takes two statements to post. Guess those blogs will be ringing in the next couple of weeks.

I was going to do that. But it says no bonus for gift cards.

My first statement closes in a few days. I've bought some gift cards as a test, but don't want to go too crazy until I know the deal. I can see there being a mad rush for gift cards in December if the 10% bonus works.

My statement closed on the 12th and nothing. I believe it said it would post in 2-3 billing cycles. Since the promotion began 09/16/15, we should have people start posting relatively shortly about their second statement.

Correction, it says 1-2 billing cycles. The thing is though, that early purchases could take a few days to post and may not have posted by the cutoff for the early statement people.

Correction again, it says 1-2 billing cycles after your statement, so that would indeed be 2-3 billing cycles total for it to show up.

I checked on slickdeals, and people still are not seeing anything.

I called discover today to ask about using apple pay in the parks. They said that they had not heard of any issue and if the merchant takes apple pay there should be no reason it does not work with a connected discover card. Hmmph. I don't believe it.

Thats true. Although, there is a lot of speculation that the "no gift card" rule won't be enforced. Worth a try.

Jodie
Oh, I get what you are saying now. Hmm, I might buy a couple at staple to test the waters too then.

This might be a little weird but what iOS version are you using? I remember reading a short note that you need the latest operating system and also Discover card must be the primary card

I just returned from Epcot yesterday. Apple Pay works at most registered and F&W kiosks, but not if your ApplePay default card is Discover. I had to switch out to another card in Apple Pay and it worked.
