Discover Apple Pay 10% Back - In Store Purchase

Correction again, it says 1-2 billing cycles after your statement, so that would indeed be 2-3 billing cycles total for it to show up.

I checked on slickdeals, and people still are not seeing anything.

When I called Discover to confirm I was set up correctly with Apple Pay, she said the 10% cash back wouldn't show up until after December 31st which I thought was strange. I guess we wait and see...

I think the Apple Pay Discover promotion only last until end of this year. So you wouldn't know if you get the apple pay bonus or not.

My first statement closes in a few days. I've bought some gift cards as a test, but don't want to go too crazy until I know the deal. I can see there being a mad rush for gift cards in December if the 10% bonus works.

Jodie

Yeah, I tested it too but would rather just do the on site purchases to be safe until we know either way.

Called Discover again and the lady I talked to said it should the statement following. The sooner, the better!

I called discover today to ask about using apple pay in the parks. They said that they had not heard of any issue and if the merchant takes apple pay there should be no reason it does not work with a connected discover card. Hmmph. I don't believe it.

Interesting, they told me a completely different story. They said that they are aware of several large merchants where Discover is not completely compatible yet. He assured that they are working on a solution but wouldn't give a timeframe or a means of notification that the issue is resolved. He said to call back to check.

This might be a little weird but what iOS version are you using? I remember reading a short note that you need the latest operating system and also Discover card must be the primary card

I have the latest operating iOS installed. However, I didn't know about the primary card. I will retry and advise.

I just returned from Epcot yesterday. Apple Pay works at most registered and F&W kiosks, but not if your ApplePay default card is Discover. I had to switch out to another card in Apple Pay and it worked.

Interesting!

I know! But, who knows how many people have called about it. Maybe it is working fine in other places just not at Disney. I used apple pay with my discover at gamestop and it worked fine.

Yeah, it definitely is. Used it at Walgreens and Pei Wei with no issues.

Changed my settings and made it the default card. No change, still did not work at several places at Disney. Putting another call in to Discover.

It's nice that you are there now and reporting back what has happened. Although of course I wish it was different news! Still, thanks for sharing.

Has anyone had luck with calling Discover to code it as Apple Pay retroactively?

Anyone planning to buy tickets or annual passes with applepay, you can buy them outside the park at Disney Springs West Guest relations(checked out yesterday with 2 AP's). East sides Guest relations does not work the last time I tried. I also added another card as the primary to the wallet app and switched to Discover when paying(idea goes to another thread on this forum I believe).

If for some reason the above still doesn't work, try calling discover.

Afterwards went to Epcot and used it on all places that have the readers including F&W festival and merch stores.

Just wanted to share the success I got, good luck all!

What is the theory behind the add card and switch part?

That is good news! Glad it worked for you! I am not familiar with the switching idea either. Discover is the only card I have linked to apple pay right now. So, is the idea to add another card like Amex and then switch to discover when paying?

Called and they said they would do it, ONLY, if the transaction is processed and declined. Seeing as the nature of the problem is communication with the Disney system, there's no way of accomplishing it. Disney is not declining the transaction, that would imply there is communication. There are just brief signals with nothin but location data being relayed to Apple Pay and Discover. Hopefully they work this out very soon.
