Discounts starting in middle of trip

If discounts are announced (e.g. for January), but start somewhere in the middle of my trip (e.g. I arrive the 7th for 1 week, but a discount started on, say, the 9th), does Disney usually let you get the discount or not? If so, does it apply to the entire trip, or just to a portion? Or, do you have to split up your reservation into two in order to get the discount (and if so, do you have to change rooms, or can you stay in the same room?).

Thanks!

Check mousesavers, it says it will honor the rate for the entire trip that it is for the first night, good or bad.

Yes, you will have to make 2 reservations - one at the higher rate and then the 2nd at the discounted rate. We did this a couple of years ago the week after Christmas. Discounts started on 1/1 that year and we arrived on 12/30, so we had to check out and check in for our 2nd reservation. We did not have to switch rooms though.

We have also done that a few times, and it really is easy, we did not need to change room, it only will work if you have a room only reservation.

We have done it before too. It also can work if your stay goes from a more expensive season to a cheaper season. Checking out and in is a simple thing, takes 5 minutes or less. They close out one bill and start another, giving you new room cards. Although the reservation center will tell you that they can not guarantee that you will not have to change rooms, from reading these boards I would guess that no one ever does actually have to change.
