Discounts for KSC?

We are planning to visit Kennedy Space Center after our cruise next month. What's the best deal on tickets?

I know the gate price is $50+tax for 12 and older. I can get tickets through ticketsatwork for $39.99 including tax. Most online sites like Undercover Tourist are only offering a couple dollars off. I had read somewhere there are discount coupons in tourist magazines once you are in the area but I don't know if that is accurate and how much of a discount it would be. I saw one site, cocoabeach4less.com, was offering 2 adult tickets for $19.99, but I don't know anything about the site and that seems too good to be true. Any suggestions?

You might want to consider contacting your US Congressmen or US Senators. They can get free tickets to KSC.

I read that program has been discontinued. Also, I'd need more lead time to do it. We're leaving for Florida in less than two weeks.

Yes, the free tickets program ended about a year or two ago. And you needed at least 6 months lead time to get them, when it was in effect.

EDIT: I looked it up. The program stopped in early 2014.

I picked up a few coupon books at one of the gas/food/rest combo station off the road on the way earlier this month. The largest discount was $7 off max 6 tickets per coupon. It was in the largest magazine size book.

As for the site you mentioned, from what I could tell when I was planning is that they do a timeshare or other presentation before you can get the "offer."

Thanks! That's what I was thinking about the one offer. And there's no way I'm wasting my time on a timeshare presentation. I think I'll just purchase through ticketsatwork and be done with it.

If you are AAA members, check with them, in case they have any discounts.

Edit: Oops, didn't read ahead.

Thanks for the AAA suggestion, but I let my membership lapse last year. I got irritated because after 20+ years of membership with them, the only 2 times I've called wanting roadside assistance changing a tire it was going to take 3 hours to get someone to me one time and 6 hours the other time. I changed the tire myself both times and was back on the road in about 20 minutes. Any more, with smartphones, it's just as easy to search for a local service station or tow company and get assistance faster.
