We're doing a 5 night trip in March for 9 at VGC (3/20 - 3/25) and have some questions about the DL discount(s).

3 of us have WDW APs (and one TIW), 2 of us have DVC cards, and at least 2 of us have Disney Visas. On our last trip to WDW we would just tell the CM (table service restaurant, counter service restaurant, store, snack shop - you name it) what all we had and ask which one to use for the best discount. I think we get some DL discounts across those, but I don't know what. So what are the discount%s and for what (food, merchandise, in the parks, resorts, DTD, etc) for each of these things at DL? I thought we'd get 10% off food and merchandise with a combination of the stuff we hold, but I'm not sure about that. Can anyone confirm?

I ran the math when we bought the WDW APs and it didn't make sense to get the Premiere AP that covers both WDW and DL at the time (and boy did I want one of those special passes). However, I want to make sure it doesn't make sense for at least one of us to get a DL AP of some kind (upgrade to a Premiere - if we can, or get a DL AP) for higher value discounts. I thought I read that one of the DL APs gets 20% off food and merchandise and paying for 9 people with that extra 10% could fund the difference of the 5 day hopper at $187 (I'd have to run some estimates).

Thanks

It's worth it to upgrade to a Premiere Pass. It's only about 170 over the WDW regular AP. A DL premium AP to get the best discounts at DL will be over 400.

I didn't think it would be worth it for the Premiere Pass - I thought that pass was like $700 (no discount available). I think our AP's were only around $400 (with the DVC discount) - we got the regular AP, not the one with water parks as we have a bunch of plus options from years of hoppers. We actually paid even less for our APs because we exchanged GAD vouchers too. I don't know if/how they would upgrade the AP to a Premiere pass and what the cost would be. Maybe I'll give a call tomorrow.

Hydro - that link says the Premium discount is 15%. Is the site just not updated/accurate? Also, do I remember correctly reading that the Premiere pass is treated like the DL Premium AP as far as benefits/discounts?

Anyone else able to comment about Disney Visa or DVC discounts?

The premium AP holders get 15% off dining and 10% off merchandise. Currently there is a promotion running that has increased the merchandise discount to 20% off. There are additional discounts available in many downtown Disney restaurants and shops, usually 10% with some restrictions.

Disney Visa holders get 10% off at "select restaurants" at the Disneyland resort. I don't know exactly what restaurants are on the current list; it has changed occasionally. I believe Goofy's Kitchen and Storyteller's may be included, although there may be restrictions on time of day. Rancho del Zocalo used to be on the list as well as 3-5 other restaurants. If you check out the Disney Visa website, there is probably a current list available. Disney Visa holders can also get 10% off merchandise purchases of $50 or more.

I am not a DVC member, but I have read in a couple of places that DVC members get 10% off dining.

Does anyone know if Disney Visa still gives the discount on strollers. We were there a little over a year ago and they did but at that time it was on the visa website and now I don't see it.

I'd like to know the answer to this stroller question, too. TIA! :thumbsup2

Mousesavers.com does a good job listing the dining discounts.

In general, DVC members get the same 10% discount as non-Premium/Premier AP holders within DL/CA, but AP holders also get that discount at many places in DD and Gardenwalk. Premium/Premier AP holders get a 15% discount at the same locations as the other AP holders. That 5% difference will jusitfy a $100 extra ticket expense if you plan to spend $2000 on meals.

Premium/Premier AP holders get a 20% merchandise dicount, with only a $10 minimum. We were even able to use this discount at BWV to buy groceries at the Screen Door which might be helpful if you have any WDW trips coming up. That 20% dicount will justify a $100 extra ticket expense if you plan to spend $500 on souvenirs.

Enjoy your trip -- Suzanne

When we were there in Oct they were still running 1/2 off strollers for the Disney Visa cardholders.
