Discounted passes for DVC members...should I hold my breath?

I was talking to MS today and asked about AP's. I also was told "to wait a few weeks". I am trying to wait patiently...

I hope it's legit and them saying ' a few weeks ' is not a way for them to blow people off and get them to stop calling. We'll see....

We too have a trip planned for the first week in March and wanted APs. Sure hope this announcement is made within the month!

I'll be bummed out to cause I just had to renew this past week. I didn't get premium though just regular annual so maybe I could upgrade depending on the offer? If it's a voucher thing good for a year like they did before, that would work as I live here and can go buy the voucher on the last day offered. (I know you can do this through MS but...).

Last year's offer was better than my FL resident discount so we'll see.

Another thread indicated they will have new discounts for sale starting Feb 6 but that they haven't been announced yet.

I just called MS and the woman told me to "try to sleep tonight" but said that discounts on passes should be announced on the site either tonight or tomorrow morning :)

Hopefully she's right!

A question (which I should know the answer to) - if I purchase the discounted PAP, do I have to activate it at time of purchase or can I wait to activate it when we visit in December?

The disclaims at the bottom seem to say that you have until Jan. 31, 2015 to activate the AP.

this looks promising !! $20 more is worth it just for DisneyQuest let alone the water

Does anyone know what the normal member price is for PAP's & renewals? Comparing this discount to a regular price ticket doesn't tell me much.

So I am getting a total price of $515--for 7 days (our planned park days), $73 a day. Puts me right at the cost of the No expiration ticket we already bought. LE SIGH

Just my recent experience: Yesterday while having my morning coffee and deciding what to do for the day, I decided on DHS, and got fastpass+ for TSMM, Tower of Terror, and Great Movie Ride. (At the times I went, the posted standby times were 85 min, 40 min, and 20 min respectively.) Didn't even head to the park until about 1pm. Today I decided on AK, and just got my fastpass+ for EE, Kilimanjaro, and Dinosaur. Again, won't even head to the park until about 1pm or so. I like getting fastpasses the night before or the morning of going to a park because I generally don't like to plan weeks/months in advance.

Right there with you. We go often and don't like to plan ahead. When we were there at Christmas, we found availability for any of the headliners the morning of. That may change as it rolls out more fully but that was our experience.

you are there during a slow period but it's still nice to read the system worked for you.

many have reported when @ WDW around the MLK weekend (myself included)that they ran into crazy long FP+ return lines. Anything over an hour negates using the word 'fast' in connection with the system imo.

we found it easy to make changes to existing FP+ times even when in the parks each day as long as it was before our window, just didn't want to wait in any long return line with a 3 y.o.

back to topic -

just wanted to verify that DVC members are still able to order discounted vouchers for standard AP vs the promo starting in Feb but not be constrained a use by/activation date...anybody know?

Well, we were there over New Year's, which I wouldn't consider a slow time, and our experience was much like John's. In fact, I was quite surprised. I came in having a somewhat pre-conceived notion that FP+ would be a complete disaster, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it by the end of the trip...

As in it will retain the value if you end up being unable to activate it by Jan 31, 2015? Perhaps a question for Cheshire Figment but I imagine since that is what happened with the previous PAP special it will be done with this also. But the activation date was the activation date otherwise you had to purchase a new product at a new price but received credit for the voucher previously purchased.

so am I since we watched reports on national news of the large crowds that time period. Perhaps less guests using the system.

I keep reminding myself it is still being billed as a test. perhaps they tried to tweak the system in a new way when we were there and things went south as to the length of the FP return lines.:confused3 Have plans in place to give it another whirl in May & October, then will re-evaluate future travel plans.

not what I was thinking. in the past I've purchased AP vouchers but didn't have them mailed, went with a confirmation number to be redeemed at will call. These tickets didn't have an expiry/activation date attached to them. Just hoping that the policy will continue forward expect for the 'special/promo' DVC APs.
