Discount through Cheaptickets

Mousesavers also has it described on their website as a programming issue with Cheaptickets pricing the room higher when children are added. One of their readers called Cheaptickets cust service who called Disney Wholesale to get it manually fixed on Disney's side. I added a nite thru Cheaptickets for an AOA suite for after the spring break discount expires for my son and me, but even though I booked as 1 child and 1 adult on Cheaptickets when I tried to link that ressie in MDE it had it as 2 adults, which is totally messing up my kid's MDE (I already had MDE set up for our Disney-booked nites at AOA). I haven't called yet but will report back when I do.

I just wanted to let everyone know my experience. I booked cheaptickets over the phone just now. It was a 2 hour phone call, but it worked out. They booked the room with 2 adults. Then while I waited (and waited...), they contacted DIsney who added the kids. I then was able to call Disney and confirm that the reservation had more than just 2 adults. So, while a major PAIN, it was worth it to me. I was able to work on the computer while waiting on the phone.

When I went into MDE, it says child, but has the age as 18+. Is that what yours is doing? Is the age a problem if it says child?

My son is 12 so that might be why he is showing in MDE as an adult. I think I read a PP that Cheaptickets is counting a child as an adult if over 10.

As far as cheaptickets is concerned, they are considering everyone over 18. It's not a matter of what Disney considers an adult. They are charging for more than 2 people in the room and to do that, they have to enter everyone as an adult. I even tried it with a child <1 and it came up as 3 adults.

I'm thinking of making a reservation and just not putting my 17 year old at all. Hoping Disney wont give me a problem if I call and add her because if Disney doesn't charge for children then Cheaptickets and Orbitz shouldn't either.

Well Orbitz live chat wasn't much help. He was willing to call Disney while I was on chat to see if he could have my daughter added if I was ready to make the reservation right then which I wasn't. He didn't know why its doing that and no way to not have it do it

So I tried live chat with Disney and the lady checked and claims that I can modify the reservation to add my daughter after I make a reservation with Orbitz or anyone else. I did take her name although I know most are not real names but I figure its worth a try. Its only adding one person that they don't charge anything for anyway

Ok, I figured that I would post my final experience with booking Cheaptickets. I booked only 3 adults online. Later I tried calling Disney direct to add my daughter. Well the 2 CMs I got said they couldn't do it. I wasn't as lucky as a previous poster. I think this is one of those times that you roll the dice with which CM you get.

I then called Cheaptickets. I just said that I wanted to add my 5yr old daughter to the ressie. I didn't say a thing about the online system trying to charge for her. Well the Customer Support rep I got last night said sure no problem and called Disney. Well my bad luck the POP reservations desk was closed so I was told to call back today.

This morning I called Cheaptickets again and the Customer Support rep asked for my daughters name and then callled Disney and had her added while I was on hold. It took around 15 mins total call time, including my initial hold to get a human. Well 5 nights for 3 adults and 1 child in a preferred room at POP cost $600 vs $687 throught Disney's AP discount. So it was worth it to me.

Also, as soon as I hung up with cheaptickets I checked MDE and my daughter was on there and I could choose her Magic Band. So we are all set for our May trip.

Did they ask why you hadn't put her on in the first place? I don't know what I would say. I didn't want to pay for her? I am definitely keeping the lady's name from live chat at Disney in case they wont add her. Like I said its probably not a real name but hopefully the know who it is!

Chances are they won't ask you why. It sounds like this is the way around their "computer glitch". I'm glad those of you who have kiddos under 18 are getting around this problem. We got a second room for our boys so we didn't have the hassle of trying to add on, but I'm glad it worked for some of you! :)

Having the name won't matter. They still won't be able to do it, unfortunately. A live chat person just told someone else the other day the couldn't add the dining plan after they booked their package.

Call whoever you're booking through and they need to call Disney's Travel Trade line who handles their third party bookings.

No the Cheaptickets person didn't ask why my daughter needed to be added. I was just to play ditzy if they asked. But bother operators I spoke with immediately said "Ok let me call Disney and add her".

Maybe they figure if you call you know they shouldn't be charging for a child. Imagine all the extra money they are getting because of the "computer glitch".

All in all it wasn't too big of a hassle to add DD. I thought it would be more trouble.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone asked Disney to match the discount? Or are the discounts hard coded in Disney's system and they can't do anything?

I contacted cheap tickets about charging for more than 2 people in a room at the disney resorts. She replied they do charge for extra guests (more than 2). So the price for me with 2 adults, 2 kids works out the same for a std room at CBR if booked WDW or through cheap tickets; staying with WDW. Waiting for a travelocity code!
As others noted, that is incorrect you should not be charged.

Not getting a good feeling about booking through this company. Was excited we may finally be able to afford to stay on property, but the deal I found off property was great for us and includes a nice free breakfast. And was just as close as on property hotels.
That's great if you like off-property, you can still get 20% off on room offsite as well.

I also called and was told there is a charge for kids under age 10. That is so strange to me -- I agree maybe it's to set off the 20% discount they're offering.
Charging kids is not to offset kids, just a systems issue.

Well just cancelled Cheaptickets ressie. With the AP discount and paying off with gift cards from Target it comes out a couple of dollars cheaper using Disney. And for me it's kinda the principle of it. They shouldn't be charging extra for a child.
Its good that you were able to get the discount

Disney does not match discounts I asked

I booked through cheaptickets, a week later rec'd a promo e-mail with a 30% discount through cheaptickets. I booked the new one cancelled the old and my credit card was refunded the next day for the cancellation.

While it is an issue with cheaptickets in regards to kids, it can be corrected with a bit of work. When I made the resv I was able to get the Disney resv# in a couple minutes and added to MDE and reserved ME

Booked today through cheaptickets for POR. I did the online reservation for 2 adults only. I called Disney to add my 3 kids and the CM I spoke with really tried to help but could not figure out how to do it even after consulting several other CMs. Called cheaptickets and the CS rep was able to do it for me- she did have to call POR and fax them apparently. Took about an hour for her to work it out but I was not on the phone the entire time- she took my number and called me back. Linked easy peasy to MDE. Less painful then I was expecting. Also Cheaptickets allowed me to book Sun-Thurs when I could only get Mon-Thurs though Disney direct (Sunday was showing sold out).

I made a reservation tonight and left off one of my daughters who is 17. I was able to pull the reservation immediately on MDE and it only had my name and said 2 other adults so I added my husband and other daughter's names.

I then called Disney and the girl tried a couple different ways and said she was locked out of the reservation and even though she really wanted to add my daughter it wouldn't let her

So I tried live chat with Cheap Tickets. The guy at first was like no problem, give me her name and I will call. Well he called the actual hotel and the lady there said our reservation wasn't showing up yet so she couldn't do anything. He tried to tell me it would be easier to cancel and rebook with Disney! I cant believe the owner of Cheap Tickets would appreciate them trying to get rid of business

He finally said to contact them again tomorrow and see if the reservation shows up however I am wondering if this is not something to be done by calling the hotel directly? When does the reservation actually show up for them?

Very frustrating. I called Disney back and got a girl who didn't know much, must be new because all she kept saying is I really have no idea how it works, who they would need to speak to etc

I was thinking that Cheap Tickets should know who they need to speak to? If not the hotel then is there anything specific I should say so that they contact the right person to do this?

The bummer is that both people I spoke to at Disney wanted to do it but said they couldn't get into the reservation :(

If you speak to cheaptickets, make sure when they call disney they use the disney resv number. It doesn't make sense that Disney said it was not in the system. If it wasn't in the system you would not be able to add to MDM or reserve ME. Also realize the internet travel sites are not truly travel agents in the old sense. They are just processing data and hoping to do it as quickly as possible. They are not going to necessarily know "disney" process. With all that said it can be significant savings.
