I am new to this board, and I just want to let everyone know how much help you have been just reading these posts everyday. One thing I have learned is that you cannot go to Disney World without some serious research. I have a question about these discount codes I keep reading about. We have booked 3 rooms at CBR for Oct 30 - Nov 4. I understand that it is a little early for discount rates, but when should I be seriously looking, and is mousesavers the best place to look? What kind of discount am I possibly looking at? I am not an AP, so it looks like there is a "room only" discount anyone can use. Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Also, any information on the MNSSHP would be great. We went last year over Easter, unbearable crowds, and would like to go back to see all the things we didn't see last year. Thanks in advance!

Welcome. Well of course you can go to WDW with no research...you'll pay a fortune but you can go;) You're going at my favorite time of year. That time will probably fall at the very end of the regular season, beginning of value season for the moderates. When we went Nov 4 was the first day of value season. I would start looking for any codes for this time period in the summer months, probably late summer. Disney doesn't seem to be releasing their codes as early as before. And, yes, MouseSavers is the best spot to go. I go there at least twice a day now. I'm patiently (well, maybe not) waiting for codes for this August. Hang out here on these boards and you'll get a wealth of info for your trip. Happy planning!!:Pinkbounc

I have a question for Goofy about codes. Is it recommended to make your reservations in advance (wanting to go in July) at full price and then just hope and wait for a better deal and if not just keep the one you have and pay that fortune? Or do people make their reservations on what they can afford and then change them to something entirely different when codes come out? Does it cost you anything to cancel one set of reservations and then have to make another one because there is a better deal? Does anyone make their reservations at a resort that they don't really want to spend all that money on hoping for a code to bring the cost down? Too many questions.

BarbaraMB, I always make my reservation at the resort that I can afford at rack rates (or DC discounts if they have them) and that way if no discounts become available, then I know I will have the money to pay for it. I don't wait for them to come out before booking my resort. There are no guarantees that they will have discounts available for your dates.

If a discount becomes available after I book, I might upgrade to a better resort and then I would cancel the first one. If I don't upgrade and the discount is available at the resort I'm already booked at, CRO will apply the discount to the first reservation. But you can't do this is if you are booked with WDTC and the discount is through CRO. Then you would have to book one and cancel the other.

As far as cancellation penalties, it depends on who you book through. There are more restrictions through the Travel Company unless you are with the Disney Club. Then it is the same as CRO, which is a full refund of your deposit if you cancel 5 days prior to your arrival.
