My family and I just returned from the Wilderness Lodge at DW and we got a GREAT rate!!! We love the idea of a Disney cruise and wondered how to search for great rates. Do I find these through web-sites or a travel agent? Thanks for any information you can give me!

I have found it to be really hard to
get discounts for cruise except their
early booking price. Calling directly to
them seems to be the same price
that the travel agents quote.
If you are a member of Costo try them.
I being a FL resident only travel when
they offer the FL resident deals. I know Georgia
get them too! if they ask. Try online by
putting in Disney Cruise Line without .com
and Cruise discount sites come up. Shop these
you might get lucky also go during their value seasons.

Does DCL ever offer discounted rooms if you book the week or month before. I always hear if you book the last minute for cruises you get great rates.

My understanding is no, but I've seen a couple of listings on discount cruise sites--not many. I got lower quotes from Costco and All Seasons travel than anywhere else. AMEX also has a bit of a discount from posted DCL prices, and DU gives a little rebate.

we just booked for 10/12/02 Western cruise and got an extraordinary deal (FL Res)

I'm not a strong believer that you receive better deals if you book early. However, the later you book, the less choice you have of cabins.

My advice is to find a knowledgable "cruise only" agent such as Cruise One. Also, although I've never used them myself, Dreams Unlimited seems to be the agent of choice on this board. In addition, the time of year you cruise will determine the cost. We prefer to cruise in October, which although technically hurricane season, has never been a problem after 7 cruises. We find the weather to be more tolerant than the summer months, and the prices can't be beat. The one caveat is that your kids will be out of school for a week, but heck, they only live once! If you don't want to cruise in Oct, we also enjoyed mid December, on or about 12/15. You still get the value season pricing, and the added benefit of enjoying the ship all "decked" out with holiday decorations....we went last 12/15 on 7 day Eastern and had a great time.

I hope this helps...good luck.
