I am thinking about purchasing some patterns on YMCT today, but couldn't decide what to purchase......so I was wondering what are some of your favorite patterns from YMCT that you would recommend? I think I am suffering from fabric store withdrawals...I haven't been to the fabric store in over a week...and feel the need to buy something! LOL So share with me your suggestions on which patterns to buy.... I am thinking the peek-a-book skirt, but what else?

what patterns do you already have?

I Love this!
Do you have a lining under the tulle?

The tulle is a actually a supersoft pettiskirt that I found. I love them, and the girls have them in every color. And the best thing, they were only around 14 dollars each..now they're 35 :scared1:

:rotfl: Seth will be 9 in May. Utah has an amusement park--Lagoon!

Okay, it's nothing like Disney :lmao: we may just have to move to Florida :rotfl:

Hmmm, ok, that does look like a fun park. BUT (now cover your ears and shade your eyes Cindee!) We also have Cedar Point! One of the BEST amusement parks in the world!!! (if you like roller coasters that is!)

But, I really do like the move to Florida idea!

How does Seth feel about an older woman though? Arminda will be 10 on May 7
Too cute Aimee!
DD's dad and his family are from MI. He has aunts that still live there.

This is an awesome tip. I will definitely have to remember it.

Whereabouts in Michigan?

Why no, there wasn't anything more important than spending the morning making an outfit for Megan's doll, why do you ask?

100_2243.jpg

Also, you might notice that Tessa is not the only cute model at YCMT. ;)
Of course there wasn't anything more important!!! That's a cute outfit Stephanie!

And, I have to go look for pictures on YCMT now.....

ETA: I found her!!!! Cool!!!! She looks so adorable on there!!!

Although I hardly ever post, I read faithfully every day and am just amazed by everyone's talent. I just had to share this. So I've been watching this outfit on
:wizard: ---just watching, no intention whatsover to buy it. It's nice, but way overpriced IMO. Anyway, it ended yesterday for $735.88!!!! Are you kidding me?????? It's nice, but come on, who can afford that. Plus, with twins, I'd have to buy 2. I was just amazed.

Some of those go for crazy prices, dont' they!!!!
I am somewhat of an "expert" on matching outfits for Cabbage Patch kids :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: (Right Teresajoy?)

To answer your question-YES cabbage patch kids need clothes too LOL Butterick has some patterns for CPK.

I knew it was you without looking at the name!!! Yes, you are!!! How is little Jord doing? I miss HER (got it right this time!) .

So I had a look at the outfit that went for $735 and I have to say that although it is a nice and very well made outfit it is not worth that amount of money. However I would absolutely die if an outfit of mine went for that much.

Can you pm me the item number...I'm curious to see it as well..

Yes, she will break a lot of hearts, because SHE IS ENGAGED TO LUKE!
:rotfl2: I had to go back to page 107 to see what you and Teresa were talking about! I haven't been on here in a few days and I missed the whole discussion! I agree that the best plan of action is for all of us to move to Florida in about 20 years, maybe a little sooner so they can get to know each other before the wedding. :rotfl: How old is Lily again? Sawyer likes older women! I guess we'd have to call ourselves the HoJoKiHa family!

I absolutely love Lily's cupcake skirt!! It is one of the cutest things I've seen yet!

This looks even cuter on her!! I love it!
-----------
I got some sewing done today. I now have 3 incomplete outfits for Sawyer, instead of just one incomplete outfit!

1. A Prince Charming outfit with none of the embellishments
2. A Cars button up shirt without buttons
3. Sebastian appliquéd onto a t-shirt with no phrase yet.
----------------------
As for the expensive :wizard: outfit, I say "Way to go, stacysstuffclothing!" If you can make a fairly simple outfit like that and get $735.88 for it, more power to you!!
------------------
Steph, I just looked at Megan on YCMT. She looks so adorable!!!! She is such a good little modeler!

I have almost all of CarlaC's pattern except for the doll's pattern, scallopini skirt and the patchwork twirl skirt. I also have the Dainty Design's peasant top.

those are good starting out patterns. the peek a boo looks cute and how about a more euro style pattern

I adjusted the straps on dd's Mary Poppins dress and finally tried it on. I think it is my favorite!!! I hope you can see the necklace with the blue Mickey shaped beads. It is for fantasmic but the colors work!!! DD is also sporting the new puddle jumpers. They are fantastic!!!

This is beautiful! It looks even better on.

I really like the easy fit pants if you don't have those yet. They're very simple and very versatile.

Hmm..maybe I should try a Farbenmix pattern...or are those more for advanced sewers? Love the Laguna skirt that someone made, but the follow along instructions that someone posted scare me!

Given my plea for pixie dust last week, I thought I would update you on Lauren's potty training status. I am so proud of her. She is doing great. We have had no accidents since Sunday morning. The number 2 takes a bit of "coaxing" but she is doing well.

When ever I go to Wal-Mart and buy fabric the ladies that are there always chat and ask "what are you making?" When I made the book panel skirt I told her that I was a making a skirt out of the panel the lady just kind of looked at me funny and another time when I said that I was going to be appliqueing a picture off of a pillowcase onto a dress again I got that same funny look. Anyways it got me wondering does anybody else get those strange looks from people when you tell them what an outfit is made of?

I get those questions/looks all the time - usually from my husband.

I have that one..and really like it for pants. I decided to try another pattern for pants the other day and I struggled with the front waistband for hours and still don't think that I got it right.

Woo hoo!!! That's great! So glad to hear that. DS has to be potty trained before he starts preschool in September. Dd didn't start school till she was 4, so I had more time to let her take the lead but I am going to have ds start at 3 so I may not be able to let him take his time.

What a cutie! I miss those white sneaker days. I think Megan was that small the last time she wore them. Now she destroys anything I buy so she gets cheap Target shoes for the most part. I think the outfit came out great!

love love love this!!!! hope you guys don't mind...can't contribute yet but i'm really generous with the compliments!

I think complimenting is contributing!

My grandmother is going to talk my aunt into paying me to make clothes for her granddaughter (my second cousin) of course I won't charge insane amounts for the outfits. Bailee is kind of a large girl so my aunt has a hard time finding clothes that will fit her and look appropriate for her age. She has to buy size 14 clothes for her and she is only 4 almost 5. This will be somewhat of a challenge but if she is paying me then I'm game.

Don't forget to record your time so you know how much time it takes you so you don't undercharge. It always takes me longer than I think it will!

Even more beautiful on! I wonder if they make those cute puddle jumpers in Megan's size. She has huge feet! You are so brave with all that white!

I have almost all of CarlaC's pattern except for the doll's pattern, scallopini skirt and the patchwork twirl skirt. I also have the Dainty Design's peasant top.

I do a patchwork twirl without a pattern, so I wouldn't spend your money on that. The scallopini skirt was easy and cute.

Of course there wasn't anything more important!!! That's a cute outfit Stephanie!

Thanks! I thought she looked a little boring next to Tessa, who looks like she is going to jump out of the computer! Next time I will have to try some action shots.

Yay! I am so happy for you! I hated potty training so I feel for you.

What kind of embroidery machine would you need to be able to use their design? I am assuming that the sewing machine needs to be able to connect to the PC using a cable of some sort? I have a brother sewing/embroidery machine combo but it doesn't connect to the computer.

Thanks for all the comments!:goodvibes

Sometimes I look at things and all I see are the "imperfections". I need to get over that I know!

:worship: what a fantastic daddy you are - now if only my DH would sew then I'd get through twice as many outfits. I've been trying to get him to knit with me - I thought we could do a child each but he wasn't keen lol :)

sweet :) they look so cute

We're excited too, can't wait to see what you make!
I'm a bit scared to post as you all make such beautiful stuff. I might just do simple lol. I'm a learn as I go sewer as I haven't been doing it for long, each time I do something I learn something new. I love being on this board with like minded people.

I love seeing the different creations you are all coming up with for the same fabric - it is fantastic. Such creativity.

I really like that tshirt - have you just sewn ribbons on?? It is really effective

I just adore smocking - it is just so timeless and elegant. And with a touch of disney added it becomes Magical.

I'd love to know too. I'm looking at the euro set (the pants, top, apron) one. Has anyone used it??

The other patterns I like (well I like looking at and drooling over) are the ottobre design patterns. I'm trying to convince DH that I NEED a subscription. there are over 40 patterns in each magazine so good value for money. A few of my friends sew from them and say they are a bit tricky but once you have done one then it gets easier. It sounds the same as the farbenmix ones as you need to add the seam allowance onto the pattern. But they really do have some beautiful stuff.

Generally I make things up as I go and tinker with it till it works :rolleyes1 I see stuff I like and sort of deconstruct it in my head. I'm also lucky because one of my friends is a fashion designer with her own label so she always helps when I say....I give up. I'm hoping she will give me some proper lessons too so my stuff doesn't look so amateurish.

I think I forgot to quote it before, but Nana, I love the "hearts" outfits you made alikat's girls! They are so lucky to have you for a nana!

Here's what I worked on over the weekend and finished today. The jumper is for a friend of DD's who is having a birthday party this weekend. They are heading to WDW in 2 weeks. The t-shirt is for her sister so they can coordinate for the trip.

PICT0029-1.jpg

They turned out great! It makes me sad I sorta butchered that side of my Ariel pillowcase.

I found this one Aimee did on the photobucket account. She just used the face so I don't think it will help you much.

Ariel001.jpg

There's our doll baby! She looks so happy in her minnie skirt. I can't wait to see the ariel and cupcake outfits on! I am not a gymboree shopper for the most part but I know their stuff is way cute.

Thanks for posting Aimee's ariel jumper again Steph! I made an a-line top with the other side of the pillowcase and it is too big for Lily, so I was bummed I chopped the pillowcase up thinking I wish I'd done a "big face jumper" but seeing Aimee's with the other side of the pillowcase that I still have, I realized I like that looking up face for a big face jumper. Okay, that probably doesn't even make sense anymore. I've had a long day.

Thanks! That cupcake skirt has turned out to be one of my favorites. Lily turns 3 in August, so she can't be too much older than Sawyer? Maybe they can all work for Disney and get us free passes :rotfl:

YAY LAUREN!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Lily keeps taking her diaper off and putting her pants back on with nothing underneath :scared1: so I let her put on her new Cinderella "big girls" and she wore them for 5 minutes and took them off and brought me a diaper
