Here is my take on the HM fabric

HPIM1358.jpg

I did a lettuce edge on the pants, but I am still debating on adding something else to the bottoms......... maybe some type of butterfly , IDK, what do you guys think?

Soooo cute! Both of them! I like it as is but a butterfly would be cute too.

Well, we went to the Hannah Montana Concert Movie tonight and the kids loved it -- so did I! There was only about 50 people max in the movie with us so we got a great seat and the kids were able to do whatever they wanted!

Before the movie!

I figured all the kids would be more into it but I guess not. I saw one little girl way up at the back dancing once but that was it. Through the first half of the movie we just kind of sang to ourselves and clapped but when she did the change to Miley, Parker started performing. She would sit in her seat and start banging on the armrests like she was playing the drums. After the "moving bug" bit her she couldn't resist it anymore, she had to get down and dance, then Michael joined. When Miley had on the black pettiskirt, Parker yelled "mommy, she has a twirly dress just like me" and just started spinning and spinning! We all had a great time -- definitely worth the $15.00 tickets!
They look soo cute! Glad you had a great time!

This is what I have been working on today. Both of these outfits are Frankenpatterns. They are from like four different patterns.

This is the first one.

This is the bottom of the pants.

This is the second one.

This is a shirt and pants set. The pants are plain.

The printed fabric I used is a really pretty cordurouy.

Love all of the fabrics together! Very cute!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU! to everyone for your sweet comments about my skirt and my little sweeties! And I know I posted it already, but as fast as this thread is moving I thought some may have missed it! I used a studio tantrum euro pattern called "Laguna". It was SUPER HARD! But there is a sewalong that is very helpful! If anyone needs the link I can post it!

I would like to have the link, because I have never heard of those patterns.

and this is the Ariel top I've worked on today. I love the way it looks, but Ariel is very stiff. I used wonder under to attach her to white, appliqued, and then wonder undered that to the blue fabric. Any ideas of what I can do to make it not so stiff? This may just be a play shirt.

This is so cute! Do you mind sharing the pattern you used for it?

I love you polka dots. Can you say where you got it? TIA

I just love the way the studio tantrum patterns turn out. I've got the redondo and the hermosa and I love them both!

Since it's kinda a slow night, here are the rest of the customs for our trip.

Everything is wonderful, Leslie! I love the decoupage mini skirt! I don't remember seeing that before. I love how you added the flower detail to it!! All of Emily's bows and headbands are adorable on her too. Have a great trip and be sure to post more pics when you get back!

All I can say is WOW mindy that does look pretty hard- but the results are gorgeous!!!!!!! I know I said it before bout GREAT JOB!!!! :worship: :thumbsup2 :worship: :goodvibes

Mindy - I lost your pictures somehow, but that skirt turned out really cute!! Both of your DD's are beautiful! Is little one finally feeling better?

The clothes are no longer a secret. I just told DD they were for Spring. She has had a pretty big growth spurt and a lot need to be adjusted!!!!! Here come more ruffles!

Anyway, here is her Tink set. I am getting bows done for the outfit. They are the same style as Leslies. Also I am getting a really cool bracelet from pbjboutique.

I love the bright colors of this outfit! I really like the pillow case just used as fabric too!

Wow, you are fast! DIdn't you just show us your new fabric stash??? Both of the outfits are great, but the blue one is my favorite. Love the appliqued flowers. I love that cordury fabric too. Where did you find it?

ELVIS!! We love Elvis around here, too. Well, I do, the Disney-hater also hates Elvis. :sad2:

I was just about the reply to some threads when I heard Boom Boom Boom on the stairs. Heidi & Aleah thought it would be a good idea to ride down the stairs in a Rubbermaid bin. Unfortunately, they were wrong. Aleah pushed Heidi down first. There were quite a few tears but all is well. Whew! Back to the thread....

Sorry that I got you and Teresa mixed up. :headache:
Oh no, I hope they're okay! I remember using many different items to slide down the stairs on when I was a kid. But, we lived in a tri-level and only had 7 stairs, so I don't think I ever got hurt.

Don't worry about mixing up Teresa and I! We're interchangable! :thumbsup2

She looks beautiful! I like how you kept the top nice and simple. It turned out very pretty!

BTW - I love to do covered buttons so they match the outfit perfectly. It can also save money because buttons can add a lot to the cost of some garments.
That's a great idea!

Just wanted to say if any of you are bored and want to......

Over on the photography board, I entered Parker's pic in one of the contests. If you want and think that she has the best "relax your on vacation" pic, give her a vote. Thanks. There are some really cute pics over there too!

She is in Group 3 of 4.
I can't find it, can you post a link?

Wow, you're really moving on the applique!! All of your stuff is great! I love that you call everyone in the family by number- too funny! You're so thoughtful to make these things for your friends and family!!

Are you using a stabilizer behind the shirts when you applique? I've noticed that when I don't, the fabric puckers a little bit. The stuff I have is called Sulky iron on, tear away stabilizer. It just makes it a little bit easier.

Parker and Michael are ADORABLE!!! It looks like they had a lot of fun!! I can't wait to go tonight!

Very cute! I like the scalloped edge on the pants. I don't think I'd add anything to them, they look great as-is!

Thanks for everyones nice comments on DD's (and DS's) sets! I had alot of fun planning for this trip. And I found a new hobby/obsession/passion because of it - sewing!!
Isn't it great how a thread on the Disboards can give you a whole new hobby/talent!? I hope you come back to us after your trip!!

I haven't worked with corduroy before, but that's a great idea! The 2nd outfit is my favorite, but they're both nice!

Hey look at me go! I multi-quoted and reduced the image sizes. Now if I could just learn to sew.....
:cheer2: Yay for multi-quoting and th_ing!! Hey, you can sew, don't sell yourself short!

I want the skulls one forsure. which ones would you go with to match the best? Or does anyone know of any other online fabric shop with Valentines fabric. We dont have much around here with a good selection.
I think they all go together, but these are my favorites with the skull fabric.

Just wanted to let you all know I updated my TR- :goodvibes popcorn::
YAY!! I'll be checking that out shortly!

Well, I better go to bed, I shouldn't have drank that coffee at midnight!
Yah think?

I love you polka dots. Can you say where you got it? TIA
I know you weren't asking me, but I've seen that polka-dot fabric at WalMart for $2/yard.

I finished a scallopini skirt for Tessa this morning, using Chip 'N Dale fabric. I'll post pictures of it in a little bit!

I used stitch witchery - but doesn't seem so great for it. Where did you get that sulky iron on, tear away stabilizer. . . TIA! Anything that will help :) I am also going to look into embroidery thread. . . since I am just starting these first things are far from perfect. . . but I want to get better before DH and I have kiddies so I can do cool things like you all!

I bought it at JoAnn fabrics. I'm not sure what stitch witchery is, but I've heard of it. The Sulky tear-away stuff is really stiff, like paper. When you're done, you just tear it away from the outside of the applique (I leave it in the middle).

ETA: I just looked up stitch witchery online and it looks like it's what you use to bond the applique to the shirt, right? The stabilizer goes on the inside of the shirt (or whatever) you're working on, to give it a little stiffness and make it easier to work with. So, you'd use this in addition to the stitch witchery. You just iron it on before you start appliqueing

I don't know if I mentioned that they canceled my sewing class. I was really bummed about it! So, I ordered two books online yesterday. They should be here sometime today. Are there any videos or anything out there that can teach you to sew? I am a visual hands-on type of learner. So, if just jumping in and doing it is the way to go, then I am all for it!

I just don't know the terms and how to set your tension and stitches on the machine.

THANKS SO MUCH!!! I'll have to wander JoAnn's to find it!

I think it's REALLY cute! I think a butterfly at the bottom would make it a perfect coordinate.

Your DD is about the same age as mine and I've been sitting here for about two days with that same fabric trying to figure out should I do a skirt or a top. Because of their age you can't always to really cutesy things you would do for the younger kids - my other DD is 5.
DD8 sees ideas and says make that, but it isn't appropriate for her. I love the pink HM fabric and I got some purple fabric with silver stars. I was going to do a top like that with the purple fabric on the top.

I have trouble deciding on making my dd9 outfits.....she is getting too old for some of the stuff I like to make. THis outfit is for our trip, and she decided she wanted more of a swing top and bermudas rather than a dress or skirt. I still have to make dd6 outfit. I don't know, I thought about making her a peasant top with purple sleeves and ruffle, and putting a ruffle on her pants. I probably will make dd9 mostly longer tops with either bermudas or tights. I might make her a skirt that is short to wear tights under.

Thanks to everyone's kind words on my outfit, you guys make me feel so good!:cloud9: It keeps me motivated to keep sewing, even though I am a beginner.:cool1:
