This one actually took me the longest so far. I haven't decided if I am done with the skirt yet or if I want to add a ruffle. Any advice comes greatly appreciated!!
This is too cute. I love the combination. I have a pattern similar to this so I just might have to CASE this.

We are leaving for dinner but when we come back I show what DH let me buy.

I just wanted to say that I love seeing all the new outfits/creations..they are all beautiful! I have been working on couple things, so hopefully I will have some pictures to share soon.

The post about "bangs" and "fringe" reminded me of something. In Malaysia, we call "bangs", "fringe" as well...when I first came here, people would look at me funny when I said "fringe". When I was in high school, one of my friends yelled out at the library to one of the guys (we were all working on some assignments together)..."hey, I need a rubber!". He looked up with a puzzled look on his face and said "What?" and she said again, and louder the second time.."do you have a rubber?" In Malaysia, rubber meant eraser but most have no idea that rubber means a totally different thing around here. Thankfully, my older brother who had been overseas for a few years at the time worn me to never ever refer to an eraser as "Rubber" because it meant something else here! LOL

How funny!!!!! My MIL is notorious for saying things that she "hears" but doesn't know what they mean. And it is not until she totally embarrasses herself or others that she finds out. Then she is red-faced and wants to crawl in a hole. We have now told her that she needs to run anything questionable by us first before she speaks. (You would not believe some of the things that she has said!)

That is too funny.

Earlier today I told DH that I was almost out of fabric and that I needed a new pattern to sew with. Well guess what he let me get.....

All of this. Some of it was on sale.

Love it all but that Easter egg fabric is adorable!

Great fabric...I have the top right fabric as well, but in pink and blue. The little package that says "Princess in Training" - is that buttons that looks like princess crowns? I am trying to finish up a dress that I made with the pattern above...that was one of the first few patterns that I bought, but for whatever reason I was afraid of trying it until a few days ago.

Yes those are buttons. DD saw them and just had to have them. So I found her the fabric with the princesses on it so she could get those buttons. The package has a glass slipper, a couple of crowns, some silver stars a couple of dresses and a couple of castles. The pack did not cost much.

It is way quiet tonight. Where is everyone? I was able to fold AND put away all my laundry and still didn't get too far behind on this thread.

On topic question-- my mom and I are thinking about getting a serger to share. Can anyone recommend a good one? We are willling to spend $400-600 for it. My mom has a Huskavarna (sp) sewing machine so she likes to go for quality. I would go for the cheap one but not her --- so any suggestions.

Thanks ladies and Tom.

I love my Babylock. I got it as Missouri sewing machine company and they give you awesome classes whey you buy it. I strongly suggest going to the class. I have never had any problems with mine. I only went to the first of two classes and they showed us enough to make us comfortable with our machines. Plus if I ever have a problem or get confused I can just take it in and they will show me what I need to do. If I recall, mine was about $600. There are some higher (much!$$$) and some lower though too.

I am saying this because I was thinking you were from my area, so I hope I don't have you confused with someone!

I'm attempting my first twirl skirt tonight. :cool1: I may be asking questions. I hope somebody will be around to help! :teacher:

So many cute outfits today! I went fabric shopping today. Soooooo excited to get started. I will post a pic in a little bit :)

So this might be a completely idiotic question to all you professionals, but I'm really confused. I'm following these directions to make a twirl skirt...

http://www.home.earthlink.net/~cornpatchcreations/twirlyskirt.htm

I'm not sure if the fabric is supposed to be two layers. I just cut the first and third layer of the twirl skirt and if you unfold them they are way longer than they are supposed to be. I'm not sure if that is right.
