Hey Carla,

I want to buy some of your ebooks but I have a question. If I buy them are they downloaded to your computers hard drive?

I ask because I am at work right now and I just about bought a few of your ebooks and stopped myself thinking how unhelpful that would be when I sew and home lol!

Okay, two questions, I finally finished my outfits for my DDS for our trip in 10 days, but I am not sure how to post the pictures. Can anyone direct me to a page with a quick tutorial.!

First you need to create a Photobucket account if you don't already have one. Then upload your pictures to your account. Once they are loaded you will see 3 or 4 codes under your image. Copy the IMG code and paste it into your reply. Good Luck! I can't wait to see what you've made!

Snubie - I'm so sorry to hear that your trip was less than magical. Hopefully it will be like child birth and as time passes you will forget the hard parts and only think of the good memories!

CarlaC, Your patterns are amazing! I have done the ruffled peasant top, and it is my daughters favorite!

As far as shirring goes, remember if it doesn't seem tight enough, blast it with steam from your iron, this really helps! You'll be amazed at how much it tightens up!

Thanks for the advice Tom. I will try that! I adore both of these tops - WOW!!

That brings me to a question for Carla. I really love all the tops and dresses that everyone has made with your peasant pattern, but I haven't purchased it because my DD needs a size 10 for a top. Do you think I'd be able to work off your pattern and increase it on my own to a bigger size?

We were in WDW Wed Jan 23 to Mon Jan 28. It was not a good trip. :headache:

A little back story: We were there in Sept 2007, just the three of us and we had a fabulous trip. Lauren loved everything - the rides, the characters, the parades. She talked about the trip for weeks after. Her favorites were Small World and TTA.

Flash forward a few months, DH has a business trip to Orlando in Jan 2008. We decide since Sept was such a success why not go again. My mother and the In-laws decide to join us since they heard us blab about how much fun we had in Sept.

Well, let me tell you 4 months makes a huge difference with a preschooler/toddler. Lauren was a tantrum-throwing nightmare. She actually cried on Small World - WHO CRIES ON SMALL WORLD???:scared: :scared: :scared: She did not want to see any characters, even though we had 2 character meals.:headache: :headache: :headache: All she wanted to do was play hide and seek at the playground at the hotel.

Add to all of that, it was cold! OK, it was warmer than home but it was still colder than I was hoping for. We wore sweatshirts every day so you could not even see the custom outfits I made for Lauren. (I'll post photos once I upload them off the camera.) Low to mid 50's in the am and maybe the mid to upper 60's in the afternoon.

I guess I am just so disappointed in how the trip played out. Lauren and I "fought" every morning about getting dressed (she did not want to wear the things I made her) and having her hair done (I barely combed it never mind but in the bows I made). It was helpful to have more adults around; my mother took Lauren back to the hotel 2 afternoons so DH and I could have some fun in the parks. It will be a while before I consider another trip to WDW.:upsidedow

I'm so sorry about all of that. it is disappointing when it does not go as planned.

Ladies and Tom!

Thank you all so much for the sweet compliments on my eBooks!!! It really, really, really made my day  ! And I am so happy to hear that my ruffler eBook has been put to good use!

Thanks so much again for welcoming me! I'm going to go read some of the newer posts, and then I'll post some pics :) !

Carla

how did you hear about our board?

Hey Girls-

I have not checked out the new thread because I have been sewing like the wind for our trip. We leave Feb 29th. I still have a lot to do but I thought I would show everyone what I have been working on.

Here you go . . . oh and I have managed to keep the trip a surprise!!!

These I re-did. They are one of the first things I every made. The babes dress was too long so I shortened it. The girls will be wearing these to Epcot and the Coral Reef.

Sorry I know it is a ton of photos! :)

These are totally awesome! I love the Cocktail skirts! What a great name. Thanks for sharing all your hard work!

I still need to find tee shirts. It is a bit cold in our neck of the woods so they have not come out in stores yet. I keep checking ON, Target and Walmart with no luck. It is going to suck when I am appliqueing 12 tee shirts three days before we leave!

I love this! As always I love all your creations!!! oh can not wait to see the pics of them all on in the world!!!!

Yeah I have that question too!

OK, here are the fabrics, tell me if you think they would go well together for a stripwork jumper? DD3 looks really good in blue and I thought this would work. Maybe with a pair of white capris. Which fabric would you pick for the top or would you do something different?

I have the first fabric and the colors are really hard to match anything to, so I haven't made anything yet with it.

Thanks everyone!

Have you tried jiffyshirts dot come? They have all sorts of T's in all sorts of colors and our shipment came in a couple of days. Many of the shirts are less than $3.

ok so in the last few days, people have been pming me about the pic in my avatar. is that what it is called. here is the full version!

I bet he'd love a nightshirt! You could try making a long sleeved peasant top, but without the elastic around the sleeves or the waist. If you don't want it to look like a nightgown, you could make it look like a long shirt and put some brown flannel pants under it or something.

I found a nightshirt pattern! Simplicity has one.

DS has been begging me to make a Captain Hook costume. I got the pattern and when I was looking in the drawer I saw a Night shirt pattern. But I have to make Captain Hook first.

I have 4 unfinished projects in front of me. have to get off the dis for a while. I'll be back later tonight to catch up.

I just landed a major score!! I went to walmart. (What is it about walmart? )All I had to get was milk. But of course I have to wander over to the fabric dept. I checked out the remnants and I found a frosty panel, a princess panel, and half a princess pillow panel. They were all reduced so I put them in my cart to find a scanner to see the actual prices. Found a scanner and it said to find an associate. drat! Well luckily there was one the next isle over and she she had a little machine that spit out the price.....are you ready for this....... A PENNY EACH!!!!! I asked her if she was sure that was right and she said whatever it says on the machine I have to charge you so it's a penny. I almost kissed her I was so happy. I figure they will work perfect for appliques and the frosty will be for a twirl skirt next christmas. Here is what I got. Don't mind the wrinkles they were all bunched up in a roll.

I got the picture panel fabric too!! I'm going to cut out Belle and Applique her on a white shirt and then put yellow ruffles on the bottom of the shirt. But that's after I finish the twelve other things I have to do. :rolleyes1 I can't believe you got it at such a great price!!

Hello everyone!

I just found this thread. Can I join you? I've just started sewing again after many years of not doing much. I'm working on teaching DD9 how to sew and making clothing for her American Girl dolls. She made PJ pants and a puppet for Girl Scouts and is excited to learn sewing! I'm having fun making clothes for the dolls (boy are those parts small...I'm glad I'm not making Barbie clothes)!!!

Anyway, do people just share Disney-related projects, just clothing (including dogs...cute)?

Thanks!

UMTerp

umterp - we share everything!
we're all kinda sewing junkies, even if we're just beginning or not that talented.
Share away!

Here is DD's Valentine's Day peasant top. It was my first attempt at shirring! I am going to make her some ruffle jeans to go with it, but she couldn't wait to wear the top to school. I had intended to make the sleeves long but she wanted them short. Then she decided that's it's way too cold for shorter sleeves and had to wear a tee under it. :rolleyes1

The top is WAY cute, but what the heck is 'shirring'?? Funny your kids are the same age as mine! I love the three year age difference, but you'd think they wouldn't fight so much!!

THese are adorable. Michael's has plain t shirts. No feminine ruffles. Are you near an Old Navy? They have lots different colored long sleeve shirts. They aren't very heavy though and since your trip is in Feb. you may need long sleeves.

Sorry your trip wasn't so fun. It is nice you got to spend some time with DH. I would love to have a DH only trip to the World!
These are all adorable. Especially the Tinkerbell shirt and your DS. Where did you find the Tinkerbell fabric. It is too cute.
I bought the fabric at JoAnn's at the end of the summer.

OMG!! You are so talented and creative!! I loved all of them! I can't wait to see the pictures of the girls at Disney wearing your creations!

They have tees all over :wizard: That's where I get my blanks. You can get a "lot" of youth tees from name brands for a pretty reasonable cost. Many sellers let you choose colors. good luck!

Whew! I finally got caught up from yesterday - almost twelve pages I had to go through. Now I'm going to start on DD5's Valentine's skirt. :lovestruc Hopefully I can get it done tonight and post it. Tomorrow going to work try to work on her Cheetah skirt or maybe DD8's Valentine's skirt.....so much fabric so little time!!!:confused3
