That would require me to leave the house which is not going to happen until I have to go to work - Unless you have a teleporting machine :lmao: :rolleyes1

Same here, I am from the MPLS western suburbs and I am rolling dice with my husband to see who has to take the kiddies to their activities tonight (fortunately it is too cold for the outdoor hockey ice time!).

Okay, two questions, I finally finished my outfits for my DDS for our trip in 10 days, but I am not sure how to post the pictures. Can anyone direct me to a page with a quick tutorial.

Also, I am looking for bows to match the outfits. Does anyone have someone that they recommend (you can PM if you can't post) where I could order some bows quickly.

Thanks everyone, this board totally helped inspire me on my girls' outfits!

We were in WDW Wed Jan 23 to Mon Jan 28. It was not a good trip. :headache:

A little back story: We were there in Sept 2007, just the three of us and we had a fabulous trip. Lauren loved everything - the rides, the characters, the parades. She talked about the trip for weeks after. Her favorites were Small World and TTA.

Flash forward a few months, DH has a business trip to Orlando in Jan 2008. We decide since Sept was such a success why not go again. My mother and the In-laws decide to join us since they heard us blab about how much fun we had in Sept.

Well, let me tell you 4 months makes a huge difference with a preschooler/toddler. Lauren was a tantrum-throwing nightmare. She actually cried on Small World - WHO CRIES ON SMALL WORLD???:scared: :scared: :scared: She did not want to see any characters, even though we had 2 character meals.:headache: :headache: :headache: All she wanted to do was play hide and seek at the playground at the hotel.

Add to all of that, it was cold! OK, it was warmer than home but it was still colder than I was hoping for. We wore sweatshirts every day so you could not even see the custom outfits I made for Lauren. (I'll post photos once I upload them off the camera.) Low to mid 50's in the am and maybe the mid to upper 60's in the afternoon.

I guess I am just so disappointed in how the trip played out. Lauren and I "fought" every morning about getting dressed (she did not want to wear the things I made her) and having her hair done (I barely combed it never mind but in the bows I made). It was helpful to have more adults around; my mother took Lauren back to the hotel 2 afternoons so DH and I could have some fun in the parks. It will be a while before I consider another trip to WDW.:upsidedow

We are in the northern suburbs- I think we might have had this conversation before... Anyway the directions are in the 1st post

Sorry you had such a bad time Snubie! That's so disapointing! I hope you had some fun anyway.

Hey Girls-
This is DD's Snow White cocktail skirt. I am going to do an Apple applique shirt.

 OMG I love this!!! You have outdone yourself on ALL these customs. Your little ones are going to look so adorable!!!

I lost this quote before- Love the hearts- good job on the shirring- that is still on my list of- learn how to do that, along with sleeves & zippers....

They do like me to come over most days- unless I have to remind them to clean their room or do something they don't want to do. I work with some ladies who live together and someone used someone elses towel and there was a confrontation and some fisticuffs ensued. So we have to problem solve those types of things and work through them. There is also a lady who likes to leave her laundry in the washer/dryer and it drives one of her roommates CRAZY!! But it's a balance of fun and not so fun but most days are more fun. I have really good relationships with all the families. I know their kids/siblings almost as well as they do-:)

Awwww!!! That is so sweet that you have such wonderful relationships with the families!!!! I bet you touch all their lives in more ways that you know!!!

YIKES! I can't help you, but I wanted to sympathize! Have you tried googling "silly putty on carpet"?

Thanks....I am so irritated because it was lovely ole me who PURCHASED the @^%$%$@ silly putty....LMAO!!! I have googled and saw some other posts people have written and will try to get it out this evening. Ugg!

This happened to us with regular silly putty. I googled silly putty or whoever makes it and they will tell you what to do. I think it says to scape all the extra off w/ a knife and then maybe use WD40 to try and get it off, but I'd look it up to be sure.
We sold that house and had to put that stain in the disclaimer b/c we never got it out.
In our new house Silly Putty is NOT allowed.
Good luck getting it out.

Thank you so much!!!! Sorry you were never able to get yours out of the carpet. Oh why oh why did I not just buy the plain ole original color of silly putty!!! :confused3

Lydia got silly putty on a white dress, and I did the WD 40 thing, and it came out after a few applications! I found that on the website too. There is a big list of "how to remove" directions!
"Scrape off any excess Silly Putty with a butter knife.
Spray with WD-40 and let sit for about 10 minutes.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 as necessary.
Blot with rubbing alcohol until stain is removed."
Here's the webpage:
http://www.crayola.com/canwehelp/staintips/index.cfm
.

Thank you so much!! This is what I am going to try tonight!! Need dh to bring som WD-40 home. LOL... cross your fingers and your toes that it all comes out. :guilty:

We were in WDW Wed Jan 23 to Mon Jan 28. It was not a good trip. :headache:

Aww so sorry the trip was not as much fun as the first. Hopefully the next time (whenever that is) will be so much better!!!! Hugs to ya!!!

Holy Klamoly!! Really fabulous. The Snow white is my favorite. Your DD is very lucky.

Hey Girls-

I have not checked out the new thread because I have been sewing like the wind for our trip. We leave Feb 29th. I still have a lot to do but I thought I would show everyone what I have been working on.

Here you go . . . oh and I have managed to keep the trip a surprise!!!

Here are the girls skirts for Fantasmic.

Wow! Amazing work as always Aimee, these are my favs!

Sorry about your trip Stacey! Hmmm, we thought it was really warm? Must've got colder when we left. :rotfl: Sorry about the kids. We just expect some of that wherever we go. On this trip DD10 was quite the complainer, DS8 was, well, let's just say I resorted to calling him Stitch at times. DS5 discovered the previously unseen habit of wandering off. DD2 was an ANGEL
I just never know what I'm going to get withs those 4!

Sorry you had such a bad time Snubie! That's so disapointing! I hope you had some fun anyway.

Sorry you had a bad trip- Kids are "fun" - don't they know they are at Disney and are suppose to be soaking up the magic  It will be better next time right???

The weather started out great Wed (our travel day) and Thurs (Downtown Disney) but went downhill from there. It POURED on Saturday.

We did have some fun but it was more work than fun. I just kept reminding myself that at least she was "free" (except for her plane ticket).

We had dinner with Cinderella at 1900 Park Faire; Prince Charming is quite handsome, the step mother and step sisters are hilarious, and Lauren actually hugged Cinder (the only character she gave the time of day to). My mother and I went on Soaring twice in a row (with fast passes) and it was incredible. DH and I spent one afternoon strolling World Showcase.

I always use patterns. I am going to make the t-shirt nightgown but I am askeered. :scared: I don't have a pattern to make the skirt portion. I held the flannel up to DD and cut a little place in it so I would know how long to make it. Now I will use my rotary cutter to cut it straight. But I don't know how full it should be.

Here is what I made on Sunday

DS loved the nightgown too. He said he was going to dream that he was flying to Neverland with Peter Pan.

And just because they are too cute.
IMG_5671.jpg

Both the nightgown and the Tinkerbell top are like Peasant shirts. They are so EASY! It came together fast. Now I know what I am going to do with my St. Patrick's day material.
These are all adorable. Especially the Tinkerbell shirt and your DS. Where did you find the Tinkerbell fabric. It is too cute.

Here is DD's Valentine's Day peasant top. It was my first attempt at shirring! I am going to make her some ruffle jeans to go with it, but she couldn't wait to wear the top to school. I had intended to make the sleeves long but she wanted them short. Then she decided that's it's way too cold for shorter sleeves and had to wear a tee under it. :rolleyes1

PICT0037.jpg
I love this shirt. DD wants a Valentine's shirt even though she has to wear uniforms to school. I haven't attempted shirring yet. I guess I might have to try.
:scared1:

I just discovered hot pink and blue SILLY PUTTY on my carpet in the basement toy room!!! Do any of you know how to remove this??? UGGGGGG!!!
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

:scared1: :confused3
I was gonna say ice it, but it seems that others have given a better suggestion.

I absolutely love these outfits. Where did you find the Alice in Wonderland fabric? I have been looking for some, but could only find some on :wizard: . It comes from China or somewhere like that so I didn't buy it. DD saw your Drizella dress when you posted it originally and now she wants one. I think she is her favorite character other than Cinderella.

I love the Wendy nightgown ... too cute about your DS. :) And I had to laugh DS has this same exact blanket! They gave it to him when he had surgery at Scottish Rite earlier this year.

OK I quoted the little one in the heart top here and I have NO clue where it went too! But it was really cute loved the applique!

These I re-did. They are one of the first things I every made. The babes dress was too long so I shortened it. The girls will be wearing these to Epcot and the Coral Reef.

These are for the Crystal Palace. The backs are really cute.

This skirt is for the Grand Adventure Pirate Cruise. DD will wear it with black Chucks and Mickey red and white pirate ears. I think I will just do a plain tank.

This is for the Wonderland Tea Party. The pink fabric has Alice, the Cheshire Cat and the White Rabbit on it.

Sorry I know it is a ton of photos! :)

I love the Nemo! That is what I think I am going to use our Nemo fabric I bought for too. Love CR!
The pooh is too cute! Did you use the same pattern for the applique as Zoe does? I love that. DD 14 loves huffalumps and woozels.
The pirate skirt is adorable!
Those cocktail skirts are awesome! Where did you get the pattern for them?
AND OMG where did you find that Alice fabric! My DD is a huge Alice fan! I would love to find some of this!! Actually I love all your fabric you have some great stuff!
Cute Cute Cute that you are doing Drizella and Anastasia! I am sure they will go ga ga over them! Can't wait to see pictures!

To answer a couple questions:

The Alice Fabric is from :wizard: It came from Japan and I am so glad I bought it. I only wish I bought more.

The Piglet and Lumpy appliques are from clipart. I just printed out the clipart and traced them on to heat transfer paper. I layer color over color over color.

The cocktail skirts are just something I thought up one day. They are not from a pattern. DD saw Belle. I was so upset. She loved it and wore it around the house and then said Mommy, I need Snow White too. Luckily she has not seen Snow White.

Ladies and Tom!

Thank you all so much for the sweet compliments on my eBooks!!! It really, really, really made my day  ! And I am so happy to hear that my ruffler eBook has been put to good use!

Thanks so much again for welcoming me! I'm going to go read some of the newer posts, and then I'll post some pics :) !

Carla

Okay, I give up, I'll never find all those quotes again! Camelotcats, I LOVE your DD's haircut! It is adorable on her!

Carla C is in the house! :worship: :worship: :worship: love your patterns! I have many of them! I also have a ruffler question (and thanks so much for teaching me how to use it!) When I am using it it will occasionally leave a 2 or 3 inch section unruffled. Does that make sense? I will have to go back over that little section and kind of fill it in. It will stitch there, it just won't tuck for the ruffle. I usually have it set to ruffle on every stitch. I think my next option is every 6 stitches which doesn't seem to be enough. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong to make it not tuck once in a while? Am I stitching too fast? TIA!

Hi!!! Thank you!!!

I think I might be able to answer your ruffler question. Mine does the same thing at the minimum ruffling setting (which are the best for gathers). I get some ruffling, but it isn't consistent. You may need to turn your pleat depth adjustment up a hair, so that you get deeper pleats. Since deeper pleats = a higher ruffling factor, you will need to compensate for the deeper pleats by making your stitch length longer. Does that make sense?

Another thing I have noticed is that my depth adjustment screw unscrews itself if I go too fast, especially at the lower settings. So I have to really watch and make sure I'm still getting gathers! It drives me nuts to find an unruffled section!

Carla

GUESS WHAT? I got my ruffler today!   I just started reading carlac's ebook and am hoping to get some time this afternoon to try and start to "optimize" it! I can't wait to try this thing out!

I guess I am just so disappointed in how the trip played out. Lauren and I "fought" every morning about getting dressed (she did not want to wear the things I made her) and having her hair done (I barely combed it never mind but in the bows I made). OUCH!!!! Sorry it was not the "happiest place on earth" this time! Kids are soooo unpredictable!:headache: They can be angels one minute and little devils the next! The next trip will be wonderful I'm sure!

Okay, I hope I didn't miss anyone, but this thread is FLYING and I just can't keep up! My DD1 has been under the weather and I haven't figured out why!:confused3 We were on our way to my brother's house Sat night and she puked all over the place! EWWWWWWW! Luckily she did it as we were arriving, so I was able to give her a bath and wash the carseat pads! Just keep us in your thoughts and prayers and hopefully she will be feeling better soon! And then maybe I can keep up with you guys and have some things to show off myself!;)

I'm sorry to hear that your little one is sick again. Poor thing. I hope she's feeling better soon!

Aimee! It's good to see you posting again! WOW, you have been busy! I can't believe that you have kept these a secret from the girls. They are all fabulous, as usual, but these are my favorites.

I lost this quote before- Love the hearts- good job on the shirring- that is still on my list of- learn how to do that, along with sleeves & zippers....

The shirring was not that hard. I think I need to find a way to wind my elastic tighter because the neck isn't as tight as I would like. The peasant top is a good way to start with sleeves too.

THANK YOU everyone for your sweet compliments on DD's top!!

Aimee, your outfits look great! You are going to have a great time!

CarlaC, Your patterns are amazing! I have done the ruffled peasant top, and it is my daughters favorite!
Christmas2007005.jpg

v1003.jpg

As far as shirring goes, remember if it doesn't seem tight enough, blast it with steam from your iron, this really helps! You'll be amazed at how much it tightens up!
