I have been so busy reading that I completely forgot to post about the very cute outfits.

I LOVE the tinker bell dress. So, cute! Def going to CASE (I need to look that up on the abbreviations and find out what I am actually saying) that one, but I will do Little Mermaid for my daughter.

I loved the valentines top. So very cute!

I want to make a peasant top, too. I have so many things I want to make and everyone just keeps posting all of these cute ideas!!!

I guess I better hurry up and learn how to sew.

Ok, I just looked on the first page. LOL! I won't be doing any CASEing. It will all be CABing for awhile!!

Here's some photos from our 2006 trip. Am already obsessing about what to sew for Dec 2008. DD swears she wear whatever I sew, but last trip she refused to wear some of the skirts and insisted on wearing shorts. Oh well.. This year she has requested something for High School musical. Any ideas?

Fantastic job!!! I love those!!! See, it wasn't so bad, was it!!

For those of you who have a razor thingy to cut fabric. You know, the circle blade for quilting. I hope I'm making sense. How long does your blade last? I seem to go through them quite frequently. And I always have one place where the blade doesn't seem to cut through the fabric, even a fairly new blade. Is this common?

Chantell
My rotary cutter does that too, with the blad not cutting in a certain spot. It will be fine for awhile after I put in a new blade, then it starts skipping. I don't know why!
Well I guess I am not going back to work right away so I may still have time to sew. :confused3 :rotfl:

Lots of new names on this board, did everyone make it over from the "old" board?
Nice to see you Cindee! I think we still have some people missing.

Karebear1 PMed me the other day to see where we went. Her daughter was in the hospital having her first baby, and Karen's first grandchild!!!! So, congratulations to her!!! I havn't heard back from her, but I will assume the baby was born by now.

Wow!

I am taking sewing classes with my 16yo dd right now in addition to the many other things I do  so I check this thread and the original off and on. You gals are amazing!

You know, you just got me thinking about a woman in Hawaii who started selling her mother and daughter dresses at craft fairs and then eventually started retail. Cinnamon Girl is now a huge multi-boutique success.

I see a lot of talent here... :wizard:
Nice to see you posting! I can't wait to see what you make!

Yeah all you Texas people must have wished that stuff my way, because the winds are howling here. Almost everything has been blown off of my granparents porch. When I was driving out to their house a little while ago my car was swaying back and forth the entire time. Next time ya'll get something like that send it up north.:lmao:
It is horribly windy here tonight too!
Hey Teresa-
I was wondering if you went to bed early tonight I noticed you hadn't posted this evening-
and we even have a couple other late nighters tonight!!!!
Hello latenighters!!! :)
I'm up, but I should be getting to bed!

Teresa

WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TODAY!????!!!!! Earlier today it was a nice comfy FIFTY DEGREES out! NOW it's ELEVEN with a windchill of THREE BELOW!!! OH, I hate this weather! It dropped like thirty-five degrees in an hour or less! You stay warm over there too!

Here's some photos from our 2006 trip. Am already obsessing about what to sew for Dec 2008. DD swears she wear whatever I sew, but last trip she refused to wear some of the skirts and insisted on wearing shorts. Oh well.. This year she has requested something for High School musical. Any ideas?

I'm putting my vote in for the trip report!!! But, I really have to get to bed now!! I am hoping for a snow day tomorrow, but it seems unlikely! So, I should get some sleep before I have to get up. My crazy son actually gets up at 4:30 AM!!! Not that I get up with him, but I do hear him getting ready! He doesn't leave for school until 7, he just doesn't like to rush he tells me! I (usually he falls back to sleep on th couch though!) I don't get it. I like to sleep as LOOOOONG as possible!

Ok, I'm tired, I'm babbling! I am off to bed now!!!

I'm going to check for that trip report update in the morning little missy!

Ok ok, I know I just said I was going to bed, but I had to post! I just checked my weatherbug (which is located about a mile down the road from me, so it's nice and accurate!) and the wind is gutting at 40 MPH right now!! The windchill is down to -12!!! It was FIFTY degrees out just a few hours ago!!!! CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY!!
Ok, now, I really am going to bed!!

Night all!

Saturday night we were eating at a friend's house and one of my friends and neighbors brought up taking the kids to a movie. I commented that the last movie we had seen with the kids was Enchanted. My friend Kristen says, oh, I used to date James Marsden (I think that's his name anway) when I was in college (at Oklahoma State University). I asked which character was he? The prince! How do you date somebody like that and forget to tell your friends? I would have been pretty excited that someone I dated was famous now and probably have told everyone I knew!

Wow, had I ever dated anyone famous you can bet I would be sharing that with anyone and everyone! Hahahaha!

I have been in love with 2cutekidz Pooh storybook skirt and today I found some Nemo. I just couldn't pass up the price and bought 3 of them. I am going to put 2 of them up to hopefully use for our next trip (maybe in '09) and I will give the other away.

Here is a pic:

That is so sweet of you!!!!

no, but I should be! I'm sitting here :surfweb: trying to figure out a next Disney(land) trip because it is too depressing not to have one to look forward too!

:) I totally agree.....not having a Disney trip to look forward too stinks!!!! I have an almost yes from DH for next December.....!!!! Better than a flat out no right now!!

UGH! Horrible pictures deleted... be back later with better ones

ETA: This will have to do... someone wanted a better pic of this:

Hi there!

My name is Carla :) ...

I've been checking in here and there (OK lurking) for the last few months, and I LOVE seeing all the beautiful creations made from my patterns!!! I spend TONS of time putting my eBooks together (forsaking all housework, poor DH), and seeing that they are used by loving moms to make custom sets for their beautiful kids really makes it all worthwhile :) .

Sometimes I see posts where someone has trouble with a particular pattern, and the insecure part of me wants to jump up and say - "but I said do this on page x!!!" Anyway, I just want to say - please please please p.m. me or email me for help (my url is in the eBooks, and that will get you to my email). I am very happy to help in any way that I can (though I have to admit that I still want to throw my ruffler into a busy street sometimes - LOL)!

So since I've "delurked" (a big thing for me because I am a big shy geek), I'd love to get in on this fun contest thing! The first 5 people that p.m. me and say "Hi geek!" get my brand new twirl skirt pattern emailed to them! I think this one totally lends itself to Mickey head appliques, and I hope to someday see one posted here :) !

CarlaC

Wow I love your ebooks. So glad you came out of "lurkdom"!!! And what a sweet offer, I am sure I wasn't in the top five but I still think it is so sweet of you. Pixie Dust rocks!!!

Oooh - and I think I can contribute something about turning things inside out! Stitch a long piece of yarn to the end that is opposite your opening (use tight tiny stitches to hold it in place), and have it sandwiched between your two layers. When you are ready to turn inside out, just pull on the yarn. The technique works even for the skinniest of spaghetti straps. I've heard the bodkins work great too, I need to try one!

Carla

Oh thank you for the awesome tip!!! Duh, how come I never thought of that? :rotfl2:

I completely understand. I am still not speaking to my ruffler foot now that Tom has introduced me to upholstery thread!

Here is little Megan in her new nightgown (she has more nightgowns than Imelda Marcos has shoes, but she liked the fabric so who was I to say no?):

100_2208.jpg
Aww Megan is such a little doll. Love her new nightgown. Hey I musta missed something, what is the scoop on the upholstery thread????? :confused3

Hi all!
I wanted to post what I've been working on today....

I finally tried the peasant top!!! woo hoo!!!
dressesandplaques009.jpg

and I have a question...what do you guys think of these?

dressesandplaques003.jpg

Wow, I love this shirt. I love how you used the Mickey fabric here!!! Oh and I love those others too...what an awesome idea!!! May have to try one of those someday!!!

Here's some photos from our 2006 trip. Am already obsessing about what to sew for Dec 2008. DD swears she wear whatever I sew, but last trip she refused to wear some of the skirts and insisted on wearing shorts. Oh well.. This year she has requested something for High School musical. Any ideas?

Yikes!! Crazy, huh? We get a bit of a "pond" in our backyard when it rains, so Henry buried a pump out there (in a big bucket thing with steel over the top so no one can fall in). We had to use the pump all day yesterday because it was 50 degrees and raining so much. Then, he had to get up at 4:00am to bring the pump in because the water was freezing in it. UGH!! It's toasty warm here now, though. It's a whole 3 degrees, before the windchill (-4 degrees after)!

VERY cute pictures and outfits!!!

I read your TR update!! GREAT pictures and I liked your Chef Mickey's gone bad!!

Just read the entire thread......past midnight here.....love all of your wonderful creations.....so tired.....off to bed....
:welcome:! I'm so proud of you for making it through the whole thread! I haven't even read every page and I'm on here all the time!

I have a question: do you guys usually use a pattern when you sew?

I almost NEVER use patterns. Of course, I almost always make my bags, peasant dresses, pants and/or shorts, skirts, and sleeveless dresses....none of which require a pattern.

Am I weird, or do you guys not use patterns much either??
I usually start with a pattern of some kind. But, I usually end up veering off and doing my own thing at some point.

It does amaze me that when I use a pattern, it tells me to do things that make no sense to me. But, when I do what the pattern says, I always end up with an outfit that resembles the picture on the front. Amazing!!

Way to get in good with the teacher! :thumbsup2
I love them both! The Valentine's top is adorable. I really like the sash with it, great idea!

I bought fabric today for my Ariel pillowcase. I can't wait to you all!
Kid tested, Scrappy approved. How funny! I love it! Megan looks so adorable, as usual! Of course my favorite pose is the JoJo/Tessa.

I'm laughing that you bought fabric to make an Ariel pillowcase and I bought an Ariel pillowcase to use as fabric.

WOW!! I'm so impressed. The dress and peasant top are absolutely darling!! The bow holders are SO great! That K one looks a little weird, though. Perhaps you should send it to me and then start over (my last name starts with K). :thumbsup2

1. Rufflers were invented in the Victorian Era. They wore corsets and bustles, and had a fondness for humongous chandeliers. I think they were sick puppies in general.
:rotfl2:

I am still figuring my ruffler out! it is a very mysterious piece of machinery! :lmao: I finally figured out how to attach a ruffle while ruffling at the same time..............if that makes sense! haha
I also attached a ruffle while ruffling at the same time. Then, I spent a good long time with my seam ripper!:rotfl:

For those of you who have a razor thingy to cut fabric. You know, the circle blade for quilting. I hope I'm making sense. How long does your blade last? I seem to go through them quite frequently. Chantell
Yes! Mine seems to "skip" after cutting with it a few times.

I have just recently started sewing without a pattern. If I feel kind of lazy or want to be quick with something than I will use a pattern.
That's funny, I always feel like I'm being lazy if I DON'T use a pattern!

Anyway I work with people who have developmental disabilities. I have 8 people who each have 5-8 hrs of services per week. I do one sleep over night at a group home so I can be full time and get all the benefits. 4 of the people I have worked with for more than 7 years. The other 4 range from 1-4 years with me. They are a really great group. We do alot of fun things as well as all of the daily living type things- making sure they get to the dr., go with them if they need it, you don't even know how many times I go to the grocery store every week!! budgeting, food planning, personal needs shopping and general problem solving stuff. Some had special diets, I go to the ymca and work out right along side them. I have been doing this for almost 10 years and it is different every day- they definitly keep me on my toes!! Sorry it got so long aren't you glad you asked?!?!?
Wow, what a great job you have! Not that I'm saying it must be easy or anything! That's such a wonderful service you provide!

Ok this thread just goes to fast lol. I love all the new outfits posted! Adore the tink with the little one spinning! Jealous at the great walmart fabric find too!

Hey, your siggy is cut off at the bottom now! I can't just see the tops of the little animated guys at the bottom.

Wow!! What great deals! Did you go back and make sure you bought every one they had?

Yeah all you Texas people must have wished that stuff my way, because the winds are howling here. Almost everything has been blown off of my granparents porch. When I was driving out to their house a little while ago my car was swaying back and forth the entire time. Next time ya'll get something like that send it up north.:lmao:

Hey Teresa-
I was wondering if you went to bed early tonight I noticed you hadn't posted this evening-
and we even have a couple other late nighters tonight!!!!
Hello latenighters!!! :)
Unfortunately, I'm an early morning-er this morning. When Henry got up at 4:00am, I couldn't go back to sleep- UGH!

sheesh!!!!! I am gone for two days, and the posts go from 15 pages to 37......................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lmao: I love all the clothes. I am still planning for my April trip. I might make some of those mickey head animal kingdom shirts. I don't know yet what I want to make for epcot. I love castlecreations mickeyfied sailor outfit! Now if she just had a cruise to go on!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. :lovestruc

I thought that also, except I was gone for 2 days and returned this AM to find over 40 pages of stuff.. whewwwwwwwwww

I am off to start to catch up although it may take all day!!:rotfl:

Hi Ladies and Tom,

I love all of the new stuff. I really love all of the World pics with the matching outfits. I bet you were all the talk of Disney :goodvibes

Shameless mommy bragging will follow.... :)

My dd Leanne had a cheer competition last weekend. I am sure you all remember I posted the came in last in Indy a few weeks ago. Well- this weekend they came in FIRST place. I bought the CD of the entire weekends pictures so I have a few to share....

This is Leanne's favorite picture she thinks it looks like she is "flying".

This is Leanne pulling her bow and arrow. She is not quiet in it yet, but this is the best picture they took.

Leanne wanted me to share this one. She thinks she looks really cool:cool1:

Back on topic.... My sewing is coming along great. I have so much to share. I am getting a new laptop this week    I have so many pictures to share.

Thanks for looking at my bragging mommy posts :)

Oh YAY for Cheer Center!!!!

Her form looks fabulous!!! :)

In the last one, is she spinning a full or in a basket?

Look what I woke up to this morning- it's a 4ft snow drift, right in front of my garage door!!! I put a little gingerbread man on top of the drift, so you can see how high it is!

1-30-08Snowdrift.jpg

There's no way I'm going anywhere today. Henry said he barely made it out, with his truck in 4 wheel drive. The drift is higher in front of my garage door, so I guess we're staying home.

On a high note, it's a SNOW DAY!!!

Good morning everyone!

Welcome to those comming out of lurking, and all the newbies. The more the merrier.

On a Disney note. Anyone have a reference for a 4 bedroom pool home we can rent Thursday - Monday in May 2009 between $125 -$160 a night? We have to have 2 twin rooms (2 beds ) and 2 single rooms (master and teenager). I want the twin rooms to be themed rooms. Also a game room is nice. Toys would be great but not mandatory. I donno, do you think my standards are too high for all that I want? Oh, and we have to have a bbq grill also. :confused3 Anyone know anyone, have anything?

Love the ariel jammies.

when dh gets home with my camera I have a valentine stripwork to share. Actually 2, but there for the twins and look exactally the same.

we didn't get the snow in northwest ohio, but it is 10 below 0 with the 50-60 mph wind gust. Im the Stay at home mom, so 2 of my friends called me without a babysitter. I will have 6 girls today from ages 4 - 9. Calgon, take me away! :rotfl:

Thanks for all the entries for the Nemo Storybook fabric. And here I was afraid, no one would really want it -- who was I kidding, free fabric causes a frenzy 'round these parts!

Congrats on the fabric!!! I know your trip isn't for a while but I hope that you will post a pic of whatever you make out of it when you finish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love those peasant tops. Sleeves scare me. I've never done one. Are they hard?

Peasant tops are SUPER easy! You can definitely do it!

Well, I've been using the same one for about 8yrs and it works fine! That might be a big no-no to some, but I figure why change the blade if it still works fine.

Well I guess I am not going back to work right away so I may still have time to sew. :confused3 :rotfl:
