Ok, Here's the Valentine's shirts. I'll have to get pics of them on 'cause they look way better on the girls than on the hanger (at least to me they do).

And this is Tink. If I hadn't been so excited about this outfit, I probably would've shoved it in the back of a closet somewhere & not touched it again for months. I broke 4 needles & had to fix the bobbin 4 or 5 times & ripped the ruffle off at least 4 times before i got it right, BUT now that it's finished I love it.

DD10 would love this!

I just landed a major score!! I went to walmart. (What is it about walmart? )All I had to get was milk. But of course I have to wander over to the fabric dept. I checked out the remnants and I found a frosty panel, a princess panel, and half a princess pillow panel. They were all reduced so I put them in my cart to find a scanner to see the actual prices. Found a scanner and it said to find an associate. drat! Well luckily there was one the next isle over and she she had a little machine that spit out the price.....are you ready for this....... A PENNY EACH!!!!! I asked her if she was sure that was right and she said whatever it says on the machine I have to charge you so it's a penny. I almost kissed her I was so happy. I figure they will work perfect for appliques and the frosty will be for a twirl skirt next christmas. Here is what I got. Don't mind the wrinkles they were all bunched up in a roll.

Great score! I have the middle panels - I was going to applique the smaller ones onto some overalls.

Well...my capri turn out a little short..so it looks like it is a pair of purple shorts! Not sure how I like it with the princess top....I didn't use the pants pattern that came with the top..instead, I use the YMCT Easy fit pants. I thought I measure it so it would be a little longer..guess I measured wrong. What do you think? Should I make a longer pair of pants to go with it (since I have more purple fabric), and is the rick rack too high or should I make a skirt instead..a twirl skirt of some sort? Here is a picture of my dd in the top and pants..she was less than thrilled that I interrupted her playing for pictures!

th_IMG_3749p.jpg

Cute set! You know, daisy trim would look really cute on the shorts.

They look great. I would however cut them off at the top of the hem (just below the ricrack) and make them shorts. They are high for capris. But I love the color combination.

I want to make some "DIY APPLIQUES" (as seen on etsy). Basically, it is an applique that is created (I'm guessing sewn/embroidered onto stabilizer?). When you purchase these, it is JUST the applique (with the edges already stitched), that has a fusible webbing on the back. It says that you can iron directly onto whatever you are wanting to embellish. I've also read that you could just do a wide zig zag stitch around the outside to attach. It sorta becomes an applique patch, I guess. Has anyone ever created these, or know how? What I need to know:

1. What kind of stabilizer do you use?
2. Do you attach some sort of interfacing?
3. When do you attach the wonder under or heat 'n' bond? Before you stitch the applique out, or after the applique is created?

Thanks!

I agree...think whale watching from the gymboree line.

Ooooh, cute! You know, speaking of whales, I saw that whale fabric posted by ms_mckenna (and others, I thnk) at Walmart today!

Well, today I learned how to multi-quote and do the picture thumbnails! And, I am sad to say, that and ordering 16,320 boxes of girl scout cookies (which is gonna be a HUGE headache to coordinate the delivery of) is about all I have accomplished today.

The length looks okay, they are walking shorts. You could also shorten them, or add a piece to the bottom to make them longer into capris, that you wanted. Then disquise the seam with your rick rack.

Just read the entire thread......past midnight here.....love all of your wonderful creations.....so tired.....off to bed....:disrocks:

I love the tutu skirts-So cute! Does any one know where I can find a pattern for one I have looked all over with no luck.

This is the one I use. I make it a little different tho'. It has a separate slip, but I attatch mine. Make the over skirt a few inches shorter.

I have a question: do you guys usually use a pattern when you sew?

I almost NEVER use patterns. Of course, I almost always make my bags, peasant dresses, pants and/or shorts, skirts, and sleeveless dresses....none of which require a pattern. :confused3

Am I weird, or do you guys not use patterns much either??

I don't usually use a pattern, either. I just look at clothes that my kids have, and cut fabric accordingly.:goodvibes

I always use a pattern, except for my simple skirts or for the skirt of my stripwork jumper. I am just too askeered (sp? Teresa?) to try my hand at something without them.

Awww, what sweet pictures!!!! Thanks for posting these Beth!!!!

Thanks Teresa!!!

Wow the customs came out great.   ..I love the fur cuff too. How long does it take you to paint them??

Aw thank you! If I remember correctly, I first drew them on and then painted them the next day....I would say not more than 3 hours, give or take a little

Adorable!!

Thank you!!!

Fun fabric day!!!!!! Here's what I got today...
IMG_0369.jpg
Oh I love all those...especially the black/white dotted one!!

Totally adorable pictures. I love that Minnie Dot fabric.

Aww, thanks so much!!! I love the red dot too and I think it photographs so nicely at WDW. LOL.

:Those are the 2nd thing you've made? You caught on fast! Cute pants!

LOL...well sorta, the first DISNEY item I sewed. I made DD a witch outfit for Halloween before that!!! However, my mom had to help me finish it as I messed it all up.. LOL....

cute:cutie:
Thank you!!!

Whoo hoo! We are going to disney in the AM!

OMG how exciting!!!!!

but a baby carrier for me (em is about 8-10ish weeks old I think)
027-1.jpg

and a matching one for izzy
were all sewn in the same weekend with help from some friends :) All nice easy stuff to start on :)

WOW, that baby carrier is awesome!!! I so need to try to make one of those now that I have another little one. I think a Disney one would be awesome!!!

ok, I was working on this set! This is a Hannah Montana skirt since my 6 year old is hannah montana obsessed! Guess she will wear customs if it;s hannah. shirt is from walmart.

Lori
p.s. I would like to officially call this pose the Anastasia:lmao:
That is just way too cute!!! She is adorable!!!

I finally got a few of my Photopass pictures uploaded to Photobucket.

This is the whole group. My family is on the left. I made all the customs. I wish I had insisted that our DH's at least wear black, white or red.

image170.jpg

Awww I love all your pictures and your customs!!! Awesome!!

No I cannot see him letting me do that. ;) He is a good sport I am not pushing the issue. I do not know many hubbies much less that do what he does for a living that you could get in even matching shirts 2x a day everyday for a 8 day trip. He is the one that told me to go ahead trace these in slick paint to make them look finished. I was afraid he would think they were to girly but was happy when he agreed. :)

And then this one I know it looks weird he and the kids were playing pirates in line for philharmagic.
MK8114.jpg

Wonderful pictures!!! I love Philharmagic!!! HEY THAT GIVES ME AN IDEA...WE NEED A PHILHARMONIC CUSTOM!!!!! LETS SEE SOME!!!!!! LOL!!!

could you all please say some prayers or send some vibes my way if you are not a prayer. Silly request but ever since this nasty MRSA  came into our lives 2 1/2 wks ago I have become a germaphobe. I know there is nothing wrong with being clean, but I used to know that germs needed a home too. Well now it seems like all I do is clean, I can't get things clean enough and it is freaking me out. I like clean, don't get me wrong but I used to be able to sit down when DH would get home and just enjoy family time, not anymore. I feel all freaked out inside if a crumb is dropped. If I dont' lysol the laundry it isn't clean. :scared1: :scared1: The camodes get lysol sprayed on them after every use and get thoroughly liquid lysoled at the end of the day. I just want to be able to relax but I live in fear of this MRSA. Once you have it, it never goes away, it lays dormant and rears its ugly head whenever it wants to. I just want to be normal again. please. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Praying for you all!!!

All the pics are great- dd wasn't diggin goofy when she saw the first time either!
And yes I do get to fabric paint at work- sometimes and sometimes I get to scrapbook and go to movies and sometimes like today I get to go to the bank and sit there for 2 hours then go to the POLICE station- because someone stole a box of checks out of one of my ladies mail box!!! The bank was really good and gave back the money that the bad people wrote checks for- 5 checks a total of about 150.00. Not to awful could have been worse, But I take the good with the bad!!

WOW!!! What kind of job do you have? I wanna do all that and get paid for it, well with the exception of going to the PD!!!

I decided I need some fun in my life...Here goes...I have 2 beautiful hairbows that I recently put on :wizard: for half the price of what I paid. They were never worn, and I hate to relist stuff...so
The first person who can guess my middle name...gets them...
So here's the first hint...It begins with one of the first 9 letters of the alphabet and it's 5 letters long.
Please PM me your guesses..and I will give more hints as we get closer...
Good luck..:)

Wow, how many guesses do we get??? This will be fun!!!

My DD8's teacher has a thing for penguins, so they are studying Antarctica this month. Penguin Day is tomorrow so I made this top for her to wear.

Love the scrapbook pictures (my other love). I'm glad I wasn't the only one who went crazy with the fancy scissors! Love the pictures of little you: you are so cute!

Thank you Stephres ... I had to look up what a bodkin was  but I can really see how it would be a good thing to have now!

I'm afraid I owe that to Teresa. I didn't know what one was either until she told us about it. And then my mother visited us and checked out some local quilt shops and came home with one. I was proud to announce I knew what it was! Now I use it on almost every sewing project.

Love the picture of your dd dancing with Minnie.

Thank you! Minnie was checking out her outfit, I think she approved!

Beth=BEST MODERATOR EVER!

Teresa=suck up

So cool! I love her hair!

That is a great job for your first Disney custom! She looks so cute and I love the black ruffle on the bottom.

Ladies I have a question about fabric. When you buy a ton what do you do? Do you wash it then or just wait it out?

What is this washing you speak of? Seriously, half the time I totally forget to wash the fabric. I haven't had any shrinkage yet (I am just asking for trouble, right?).

Love these! Super adorable. He loves them to if you got an 8 year old to wear it. my almost 7 is already getting fussy!

That's why I am limited to pj pants. He will not, under any circumstances, wear anything I make out in public. Luckily, he does not consider Disney public so he will wear stuff there, but never at home!

Not interesting? I think that's super cool! I love the baby carriers!

Megan saw this and literally gasped. It was so funny. I think she wants to come live with you now!

I did tell her that was the Anastasia and she said, "of course it is." What was I thinking?

OK, Steph, I have a question for you: did you cry when you cut Megan's hair??

I just cut 8" off of Brianna's hair. it was SUPPOSED to be four, but she moved while the scissors were cutting. :headache: Her hair is around her chin now (from halfway down her back).

Oh, and we're doing BBB in April, and she doesn't have enough hair for a ponytail. :sad1:

I guess I don't have the attachment to hair most people have. It didn't bother me at all. My husband on the other hand, was a totally different story. He was pretty upset. I think she is cute either way so it doesn't bother me. I kind of agree with Elisa about the bangs. I would rather she grow them out, but I don't argue. It's her hair, so she can decide.

We went to BBB with a cousin with shorter hair and it ended up very cute. She had it all slicked up in a Cinderella bun with a tiara. They will work with whatever hair she has and it will look great, I promise!

UGH! Horrible pictures deleted... be back later with better ones

ETA: This will have to do... someone wanted a better pic of this:

This is just tooo cute!

We Have A Winner!!
phins_jazy was the winner of the bows...She was the second guesser and got it!! My middle name is Helen! Teresa..you got it too, but she beat you to it!! Congrats!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I think I may try a mommy-and-me on this...I have about 200 yards (maybe more) of each of the two fabrics. (one is the longer with embroidery, the other short) What do you guys think? I might do a top and skirt....

She is sooo cute and I think a matching outfit would be VERY CUTE! That is really nice fabric!

Hi there!

My name is Carla :) ...

I've been checking in here and there (OK lurking) for the last few months, and I LOVE seeing all the beautiful creations made from my patterns!!! I spend TONS of time putting my eBooks together (forsaking all housework, poor DH), and seeing that they are used by loving moms to make custom sets for their beautiful kids really makes it all worthwhile :) .

Sometimes I see posts where someone has trouble with a particular pattern, and the insecure part of me wants to jump up and say - "but I said do this on page x!!!" Anyway, I just want to say - please please please p.m. me or email me for help (my url is in the eBooks, and that will get you to my email). I am very happy to help in any way that I can (though I have to admit that I still want to throw my ruffler into a busy street sometimes - LOL)!

So since I've "delurked" (a big thing for me because I am a big shy geek), I'd love to get in on this fun contest thing! The first 5 people that p.m. me and say "Hi geek!" get my brand new twirl skirt pattern emailed to them! I think this one totally lends itself to Mickey head appliques, and I hope to someday see one posted here :) !

CarlaC

My kids loved this picture. Megan thought it was in front of Splash Mountain, but her brother corrected her. Then they discussed how scary Mt. Everest was and how they were both too little to ride it. It was so funny! All your pictures are great. The castle ones are breathtaking: mine didn't turn out nearly that great.

Beautiful family!

could you all please say some prayers or send some vibes my way if you are not a prayer. I'm so sorry. I can understand how you feel, always looking over your shoulder, feeling you can't do enough. I hope as time goes on it will get easier for you.

Wow! She looks so grown up in that picture. Must be the hair and make up. I am so happy for you that they had a good competition. It takes a lot of pressure off, I bet.

That skirt is really cute! I tried sewing tulle under a skirt and failed miserably. It has been seam-ripped so many times and is now in pieces. I should try to complete that....hmmm....maybe.....

I successfully made a tulle skirt and then forgot and threw it in the dryer. Now I have a shredded tulle skirt! :headache:

Ok - I was on page 29 (a couple of days ago) I hit refresh and am now on page 64! I will have to work my way back - I'm sure there has been some fabulous outfits and conversation that I missed! I am busy working on Emma's birthday outfit. It is her birthday on Thursday and I am almost done! I did use my serger on this one for the first time - MAN - so neat - but soooo dangerous for me - LOL! I did cut into a seam :( - but was able to fix it by sewing a bigger seam. It was an inside curve at an arm seam. Can't wait to show you all!
Lori

Good job! I still haven't taken mine out of the box yet. Wait, why haven't you shown us yet?

Hmm, I think my mother bought that fabric and hasn't made anything with it yet. That came out great. I think white capris would look really cute, but I completely understand you not wanting to put white on a little girl bottom! Purple with white ric rac will be just fine! :thumbsup2

Hey does anyone have tricks for turning long skinny pieces, like straps. I made a long tie, It is not going so well to turn it. I think maybe it is to skinny. Before I go recut and sew a new one does anyone have any tricks. My grammy gave me a long skinny pole thingy- but it just isn't working:headache:

1) I make them bigger than the pattern. I can never get them turned around.
2) I use ribbon. That's when I totally give up. Good luck!

HOW DO YOU ALL FIND THE BOUTIQUE STUFF ON :wizard: ? I don't guess I am searching for the right things? If you can't post the answer just pm me please! I am always looking for inspiration, but never seem to find anything! Please if someone could help me out? TIA!

I search "custom boutique disney" or "custom boutique princess" HTH!

It was me! Thank you! It is soooo cute. I think I missed it the first time you posted it. I love the mice!
