Ok, I know that I can sew. Here is the proof. I made this when I was 13 or 14. There was a belt and a pair of pants that matched. My girls (now 22 & 19) have worn the shirt at some point because it was back in style again. I still have the belt somewhere but the pants are long gone.

Hey Vicki! Good job!!! Now go make yourself something else! A peasant top would be a great place to start!

I'm going shopping tomorrow for a pattern and some material. I want something to wear to Disney!

The Mary Jane style with Mickey Head holes instead of the plain round holes. The only problem with the Mickey Head shaped holes is that the jibbitz fall out.

You can solve this problem by going to the local hardware store and buying a rubber gasket the size of the jibbitz....put the gasket on the INSIDE of the shoe, but the jibbitz through the mickey head and through the gasket. Now the gasket will hold the jibbitz in, and for most styles of jibbitz, you won't be able to see the gasket as the entire mickey head hole will be covered. I did this for the girls' regular size holes because I'd read so many people complaining about the jibbitz falling out even on regular holes. At $3-4 each I don't want to be losing these babies....I'm too cheap.

What a clever idea. I will have to try that as I have removed all the jibbitz from the boy's crocs since they kept losing them.

So, with a ruffler you can adjust and make pleats also? With a gathering foot, you don't have that many options? That would explain the big difference in price!!! And, the ruffler is the big scary looking thing?

I think that is the deal. The ruffler is the one that looks more like a contraption than a presser foot. :rotfl:

I made DD a tee to go with the tutu twirl skirt eeyore3847 made. I love the tee Lori made - she'll wear it with the skirt as an everyday set. I loved this fabric so much that wanted a tee to match! I think I'll make myself one on a pink tee. The bows are petite bows and they are sooo cute!

I LOVE this! That fabric is TDF!

ALSO, where did you find directions for those bows? Is it in the bookmarks? I love that size bow.

So I finished two skirts

What do you all thinks?

So my DH decided to be all super sweet and mine and went out to buy me a surger. Problem is I have never used one and I have never seen one in use. So I basically have no clue how to use it lol! Any good suggestions on surging for dummies?

These are very cute.

My only suggestion is to read the manual through - twice. I only use mine for finishing seams and doing rolled edge hems. But it is certainly worth owning one just for that.

I love pj pants now, the easiest things to make ever!!!!!!!!!!!! Didn't you get the memo? 8yos know everything!!!!!! At least that's what mine thinks!

MAN, do I hear you about the boys knowing everything! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Ok, I'm trying to shop online for a ruffler and need help.

What's the difference between a ruffler and a gathering foot?

You want the ruffler. The gathering foot is a little foot that I haven't quite figured out the purpose for yet!

Yes, when people say boys are so much harder than girls, I just shake my head. I cannot believe that sweet-faced Tessa was a stinker, lol!
OHHHHHHH BELIEVE IT!!!! WOO!! She is so much better now though! Corey was pretty busy, but turned into a total terror at 18 months, I still remember the day! Arminda was the calm between the storms! She has always been extemely well behaved (if not overly sensitive at times!) I believe God gave me Arminda so that I could catch my breath before he sent Lydia my way! BUSY BUSY BUSY!!! She walked at 8 months, talked at 6 weeks, and has a temper to go with the red hair! Other than that, she is a little angel! Lydia has the attitude that she can do ANYTHING that Corey or Arminda can do! She doesn't seem to notice that Corey is 10 1/2 years older than her!

See, if you weren't nosy, you wouldn't have known that was directed at you! :rotfl:
:rotfl: So true!

We'll see what the mom says. I e-mailed her the pictures. If she comments on it, I might try what you guys have suggested (thank you!) or rip it out and start over like Leslie said. :scared1: I am hoping she will love it and not notice!
I think it looks fine, so I doubt she will say anything!

Hey, they are playing "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" on a show on TV! Cool, so brings me back to the 80s!

Thanks! I'm going to buy a ruffler!!! :dance3:

Actually my 8yo is a girl, and she knows more than boys, at least that's what I'm told!

I love this fabric -- where did it come from?

Thanks for the compliment but honestly I am pretty selfish. I am in it to adopt a little one. We figure that fostering we are giving back to the system that will eventually give us a child. Not to mention I am a full believer in Karma. Praying that my future kiddo is in a good foster home if we do not get him/her first. ;)

Now I just have to find something to make her big brother a quilt out of. :goodvibes

I KNEW you would try to act like you weren't something special!!! But, you are NOT foolling me! I know special when I see it!

I am not sure why she is making that face. I think it is because she is only wearing the top and she was very afraid I would take a picture that included her panties (Sunday from the Disney days of the week pack I got from that big on-line sale). Also, she slept with her hair in braids so it is a big disheveled. She is really not crying! I didn't bribe her with gum and then refuse to give it to her, honest! ;)
I am laughing so hard that I woke up Arminda and Lydia!
I will belive you on the gum thing, if you insist!

I am all thumbs when it comes to bows - those came from ebay. I think there a directions in the bookmarks for the same style bows - just make them the size you want? :confused3

Try this link for the bow, it's similar.

I love it too!! It is Moda fabric from their Sweet hearts line.

Cute! Is this at the conservation station? I have never seen Jiminy in the parks before!

We saw Jiminy twice in MK in November. Both times he was just inside the gates on the right at the foot of the steps of whatever that shop is (ggggrrrrrr!) maybe something-or-other Emporium? Anyway it's the first one on the right as you walk in & it's huge.

This is dd4 & my Mom who LOVES Jiminy

Yes, that's right, there is no control on the gathering foot. The ruffler is the big scary one!

Adorable Leslie!!!! I love that idea!
Oh, and I was not allowed to take a picture of the boy's face. He was fresh out of the shower and his hair was wet. :confused3 I guess it made sense to an 8 year old, even if I didn't get it.

Those are SOOOO cute!!! I'm really loving the orange one!

Read your serger manual very well! Iuse mine for finising the hems and doing the rolled hems too. I love it for that!! Have fun!

Well, actually my 8 year old, is now an 11 year old, and he knows even more now than he did when he was 8! It's amazing that I've survived for almost 39years since I know so little! The pre-teen years! JOY! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Deann, I love all the new fabrics you got! I think the fabrics for Marie match well and Pooh too. I love both of those and have several yards of them! They are my go to fabrics for everything!

I also love the ariel panels. I got 2 of them way back when. I think they would make a nice pillowcase dress, might have to cut some off the bottom.

Enchantedprincess, Love the Mickey shirt, sorry, decided not to quote a million things hope I get all the names right, most I'll just forget!

I am waiting for some new crocs! I couldn't decide what I wanted so thought I would make sure everyone has them out. I usually get mine at shoebuy.com with coupon codes and free shipping, great deals.

I guess I forget whatever else!

Oh, Leslie, love the new outfit. Lori, great job on the skirt and definately make one for yourself. The whole family will be cute matching!

OH, you don't know ANYTHING until you are a fifteen year old boy!!!

Most of the time he is wonderful, but there are those moments.....

That's funny because my 11 year old thinks I know everything...why else would he try to get me to do his homework every night :confused3 :worship:

I was at a second hand store that my friend suggested. Usually I can't stand them, and stay far away, because of the smell. Long story...but I hate that musty moldy attic smell....ick
Anyhow I found something that doesn't fit my dd but had to have...

I just thought it was the funniest thing. I was laughing in the store and people were looking at me..LOL.
I will have to list it because it is way to small, but I just thought it was a total riot...it would definately stand out against all of those plain ponchos.

CUTE! What size is it??? with the luck we've had the last three weekends at Disney in the rain we could use it! ;)

here's a quick pic of DD in her "minnie ate the zoo" dress - which I think looked better on than laying on my messy bed. And one of DS and Lilo just cause it's cute!

Krispy - cute pictures!! I love the one of DS and Lilo! How old is he? I hope my DS2 does ok with the characters.

Thank you everyone for your help with my shorts. I spent some quality time with my seam ripper after putting the kids to bed DH says that I should start a sewing blog to journal my progress, and I have to put that picture on there so I can look back one day and laugh at it. LOL Anyway, here's the final product....

IMG_3740p.jpg

I am also wondering if you try and match up the print on your shorts/shirts...obviously mine isn't since rocket is chop off on the front.

Thanks again....I will come back and get caught up with the rest of the post but I wanted to do a quick post of the finished product.
