Ok, I'm trying to shop online for a ruffler and need help.

What's the difference between a ruffler and a gathering foot?

 Oh, I feel for you!! Tessa was the exact same way! I had to wrap her up in a towel, really tightly to brush her teeth. Sawyer just lets me do it. Luckily, I had my stinker first and my easy baby 2nd, so it was a welcome surprise! I couldn't take my eyes off of Tessa for a second. She was always into something! Once she hit about 3, things got much easier. Now, she's really a well-behaved girl! When people say how much busier boys are, I just look at them like this: :confused3

I knew it would look great on!! It turned out really cute!

Yes, when people say boys are so much harder than girls, I just shake my head. I cannot believe that sweet-faced Tessa was a stinker, lol!

Thanks!

Nope, first twirl skirt for me. DD has a Christmas set that I got on ebay and eeyore3847 made her Valentine tutu twirl skirt. Other than that I can't think of any other skirts that she has.

The Pooh Storybook is a Kit. They also have Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Buzz Lightyear, Various princesses, and I think Raggedy Ann. It is a kit and comes with the batting to put between the pages. In both of my Joanns they have been on endcaps (end of an aisle) in the fabric department.

Thank you, I will check them out. Raggedy Ann would be cute. If I get one, I am definitely going to CASE yours!

This is so cute! I would want to keep it and let her wear it anyway!

WHAT'S GOING ON AROUND HERE????? I leave for a few days and BAM! you've got a new thread. Ya'll were probably trying to dodge me, but see that! I'm cleverer than you think! I found you sneaky girls anyway.

So, the bobbin kept bunching up on my MIL's machine last week and the peasant top is still in pieces. I am going to try to work on it today a bit. We'll see. I have GOT to get internet at home so I can keep up w/ ya'll better. That and a job that doesn't work me 24-7 so that I can actually get some sewing done.

Now, I have like 34 pages to review, I'd better get to it:surfweb:

...t.

I was just thinking about you. I'm glad you made it over here!

I'm posting a quick sneak peek at the custom Gracie is going to wear to the Princess Tea party in March.

The colors are actually lighter & brighter. She will wear this over a light pink pettiskirt.

I cannot see anything but a red x. But people are commenting so they can see it. I don't understand, but I am sure it is beautiful!

Oh yeah!?! Right back at yah! :snooty:

See, if you weren't nosy, you wouldn't have known that was directed at you! :rotfl:

:thumbsup2 I like it where it is...it looks fine. But if you are really concerned, perhaps you could add something underneath like her name or something so it looks more centered from top to bottom???? :confused3

We'll see what the mom says. I e-mailed her the pictures. If she comments on it, I might try what you guys have suggested (thank you!) or rip it out and start over like Leslie said. :scared1: I am hoping she will love it and not notice!

I think it is so nice of you to make her something to take when she goes. You are such a fantastic foster mother, and I've known quite a few! (most were NOT so fantastic unfortunately!) You do a wonderful thing giving your heart to these kids.

Thanks for the compliment but honestly I am pretty selfish. I am in it to adopt a little one. We figure that fostering we are giving back to the system that will eventually give us a child. Not to mention I am a full believer in Karma. Praying that my future kiddo is in a good foster home if we do not get him/her first. ;)

Now I just have to find something to make her big brother a quilt out of. :goodvibes

Hi Lori,

Love your ideas. I just saw a couple of cow prints at Waldemort a few days ago.

Everyone is always so helpful and willing to share their creations.

Thanks,
Marianne

Thanks t! Your Lily needs those pants!

I'm sure they look much cuter on Tifani! But here are the Mary Jane crocs (and probably some of my boys' dirty socks and crocs as well it looks like)--aaah to be swinging on the beach at the Poly again:goodvibes ...) I am also wearing them in the family photo with Mickey I posted.

h_tIMG_0460.jpg

OH MAN! This looks like HEAVEN! Wish I were there right now! I love my mary jane crocs too! So comfy!

Ok, I bought more fabric today!!!! I took my embroidery machine budget and we decided that I should invest in fabric! My dh is just a doll  I'm also going to Joanns tomorrow for more!

Anyway, here's what I got today at Walmart - HM flannel for the girls some pj pants, Pooh, Ariel and whales (just because they were on sale) and apples for a Snow White custom.
th_fabric3.jpg

I got these to go with this Pooh fabric, do you think it will work?
th_fabric34.jpg

And, I got these dots to go with Marie, what do you think?
th_fabric32.jpg

They all look great. The polka dot with the Marie fabric is going to be really cute!

Deann~ Was the HM fabric on clearance too? It was not yet here but I guess I will keep checking back. We were out of the Ariel I guess cause I sure did not see it. :( I almost bought the whales but I just could not decide what I was going to do with it. I am already wishing I would have picked it up just in case lol. I like the pooh fabrics with those others! I saw them as well. I have a HUGE amount of that pooh fabric because I used it to make a curtain to cover our sliding glass door and I took it with us when we moved. DH thought I was insane but that is a lot of fabric that I could repurpose.

I got 3 of these panels though they were 3.00 a panel.

th_sewing.jpg

One I am going to make a quilt for my DD 2 to take home when she goes. (She loves Ariel) I am also thinking of using it to make her a pillowcase dress. Not sure if it is going to work but will see.

YES! This is the panel I was talking about!

AND, I totally agree - you are such an awesome foster mama. I can just really tell how much love oozes from you for the children in your home. I've said it to you before, but I know it takes a very, very special person to take on such a task. And not only are you one of those special people, but you are VERY good at it!

Ok, I'm trying to shop online for a ruffler and need help.

What's the difference between a ruffler and a gathering foot?

What I own (and probably most of us here, I would guess) is a RUFFLER FOOT. My understanding is that the ruffler foot gives you greater control of the ruffles that you create. This is what I would invest in if I were you.

Love the big appliqués, lol! The tops look great, I love the colors you used.

And the snow pictures are so cool!

Steph - I think the peasant top looks ok. But Just so you know, if you don't like it you can take the applique off and redo it. I had to do this with one of DD's shirts and there were no holes or rips in the shirt. If there are little holes (tiny holes from the thread) throw it in the wash, they should shrink up. It was on a tee shirt when I did it so that might make a diffeerence.

Thanks Leslie. I will see what she says and maybe I won't have to rip it out.

I don't think it looks bad. I think on a three year old, it will look lower. Like someone else said, you could put the elastic in the top casing instad.

But, more importantly, was Megan crying??? What did you do to my cyber-neice???

I am not sure why she is making that face. I think it is because she is only wearing the top and she was very afraid I would take a picture that included her panties (Sunday from the Disney days of the week pack I got from that big on-line sale). Also, she slept with her hair in braids so it is a big disheveled. She is really not crying! I didn't bribe her with gum and then refuse to give it to her, honest! ;)

I cut out 2 of the skirt. One in white for the lining. Then I bought the roll of tulle, and gathered it tight. Sewed it down to the lining, 2 rows. and it puffed it out really nice. You can't tell, but she has bloomers on underneath. BTW, the Tink, Minnie and Pluto skirt are all the same pattern.

Cool. Did you mention the pattern? Is it a YCMT one or from the store?

The shirt looks really good and I am sure no one will notice the buttons on the wrong side. I have yet to try buttonholes, so you are ahead of me!

I think we are all laughing because we all have done it! I know that I have! I hope you can figure it out, because it really is a quick fix. I remember when I did it, it took me about 30 minutes to figure out what I did wrong. I kept looking at the pattern and looking at the pants, completely lost!

ms_McKenna - clean out your PM's please.

I was gonna PM this message, but your box was full. I don't want to lose this from my brain, so here it is.

I just checked the regular pillow case. It would probably work better. Of course, you have to turn the thing sideways, and then cut the bottom and top off, but I think it wold work. You could add a ruffle to the bottom if you felt that it was too short or something. But I think it'll work!

So, with a ruffler you can adjust and make pleats also? With a gathering foot, you don't have that many options? That would explain the big difference in price!!! And, the ruffler is the big scary looking thing?

I made DD a tee to go with the tutu twirl skirt eeyore3847 made. I love the tee Lori made - she'll wear it with the skirt as an everyday set. I loved this fabric so much that wanted a tee to match! I think I'll make myself one on a pink tee. The bows are petite bows and they are sooo cute!

th_fabric32.jpg

Love! They look like they were meant to go together.

We got those pink crocs for Megan last year and she wore them to preschool every day. I couldn't get them off of her! She is not allowed to wear them to kindergarten, but she would if she could!

Pretty! I can't wait to see the quilt (and/or pillowcase dress). I am sure it will be great!

That is very nice! Of course you can sew, we knew it all the time!

That is PRECIOUS! I love the heart eared mickey sooo cute!

I love that fabric! The mickey hear ears are the cutest. I don't think I told you this, but when Megan saw the one for your son, she squealed! Yes, you have to make yourself one too!

Here is what I did today. I am trying to clear out my to-do projects so I can justify buying fabric to make something with all the pillowcases I bought!

Oh, and I was not allowed to take a picture of the boy's face. He was fresh out of the shower and his hair was wet. :confused3 I guess it made sense to an 8 year old, even if I didn't get it.

So I finished two skirts

What do you all thinks?

So my DH decided to be all super sweet and mine and went out to buy me a surger. Problem is I have never used one and I have never seen one in use. So I basically have no clue how to use it lol! Any good suggestions on surging for dummies?

I love both skirts and the shirt but for some reason the orange one is really extra cute.
