Camping Griswald, where did you find that fantastic Little Einsteins outfit?! Did you do that one? It's amazing! I'm glad DD didn't see if but DH did and he wanted me to find it or make it (?!) Making it would require a skill level that totally dwarfs mine currently.

All your DD's outfits are fabulous!

Thanks!

Thanks so much. I bought the Little Einsteins through a connection hee on the boards. She knew an embroider, and then sewed the rest together. it is still my favorite thing ever!

I was at a second hand store that my friend suggested. Usually I can't stand them, and stay far away, because of the smell. Long story...but I hate that musty moldy attic smell....ick
Anyhow I found something that doesn't fit my dd but had to have...

I just thought it was the funniest thing. I was laughing in the store and people were looking at me..LOL.
I will have to list it because it is way to small, but I just thought it was a total riot...it would definately stand out against all of those plain ponchos.

Well i would love to buy it from you! Please don't put that adorable raincoat on ebay!!

Love all the customs, especially the Little Einstein outfit! Did you make that? I love it!!!

See above note!

I just want to say everyone here is so absolutely talented! After reading through your post, I wanted to share with you something I made. Back in June my DD and I went to WDW with one of my best friends. She made all of our ressies and took care of calling and make any changes. I started thinking I wanted to do something special for her. Something as a reminder of our trip and what it meant to myself and DD for all the time she put into making it magical for us.

I made her this ragtime quilt.

SheanaSurprise2.jpg

I had made one just like it for my DD, but hers has hearts where I used Mickey heads for my friends. It turned out to be a big hit and she loves it! I just made my own stencil for the Mickey heads and ran around searching for the different Disney fabric. It was super easy to make!

Thank you everyone for your help with my shorts. I spent some quality time with my seam ripper after putting the kids to bed DH says that I should start a sewing blog to journal my progress, and I have to put that picture on there so I can look back one day and laugh at it. LOL Anyway, here's the final product....

IMG_3740p.jpg

I am also wondering if you try and match up the print on your shorts/shirts...obviously mine isn't since rocket is chop off on the front.

Thanks again....I will come back and get caught up with the rest of the post but I wanted to do a quick post of the finished product.

Jenny

They are beautimus!! You did a great job on them.

Holy cow this thread is moving fast! LOL!

That's funny because my 11 year old thinks I know everything...why else would he try to get me to do his homework every night :confused3 :worship:

Oh my goodness! Welcome to my world! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Can you PLEASE tell me how to do this? I have wanted to do something EXACTLY like this for a while. I have no idea where to even start.

I bought a pattern from a quilt store. It was for a ragtime quilt. I will look through my sewing stuff tomorrow and find the exact name of the pattern. I will PM you tomorrow :)

Yeah! It looks really good. Glad you got it fixed.

CUTE! What size is it??? with the luck we've had the last three weekends at Disney in the rain we could use it! ;)

here's a quick pic of DD in her "minnie ate the zoo" dress - which I think looked better on than laying on my messy bed. And one of DS and Lilo just cause it's cute!

What a WONDERFUL thing to do!!! That quilt is beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing with us!

AND, I totally agree - you are such an awesome foster mama. I can just really tell how much love oozes from you for the children in your home. I've said it to you before, but I know it takes a very, very special person to take on such a task. And not only are you one of those special people, but you are VERY good at it!

Thank you. Very sweet of you to say. But like I said to you in the fabric store ... it is just the right amount of insanity and infertility combined. ;)

ms_McKenna - clean out your PM's please.

I was gonna PM this message, but your box was full. I don't want to lose this from my brain, so here it is.

I just checked the regular pillow case. It would probably work better. Of course, you have to turn the thing sideways, and then cut the bottom and top off, but I think it wold work. You could add a ruffle to the bottom if you felt that it was too short or something. But I think it'll work!

Thanks Shannon. I cleaned it out ... should be good for a while lol. I am going to take a look at it tomorrow if I can ... if not it will be Friday before I can get back to anything sewing. Sad huh? I thought the point of being a SAHM was that you got to stay at HOME. But I am starting to wonder lol.

So I finished two skirts

What do you all thinks?

th_IMG_0312.jpg
I love this. I have seen this fabric before and thought of using it. We actually used the blue for our last trip and made mickey heads ... I outlined the fabric in glow in the dark paint. Because the first thing I thought of when I saw the fabric was making "hidden" mickeys. I am a dork I am aware.

OH, you don't know ANYTHING until you are a fifteen year old boy!!!

Most of the time he is wonderful, but there are those moments.....

Or a 14 year old girl. ;)

Very cute. And if it makes you feel any better I did it too. I made Alex some pants probably 4 years ago and did the same thing. I could not for the life of me figure out what I had done lol.

Woudl you mind sending it to me as well? I love this quilt and I know my 14 year old would as well. :goodvibes

For those of you that have gone in Dec before. I know the weather can vary so much in Florida. What did you do on your customs? Did you do 2 versions or just make sure you had long sleeves to go under? I can see having leggings for girl stuff but I guess I just should not make any shortalls? Just stick to long pants? I know when we went in Nov of 06 it was pretty warm most days but a few we froze our tushies off at night.

Ohh I think this is darling! Much better than the clear see thru ones we used last time!!!

I made DD a tee to go with the tutu twirl skirt eeyore3847 made. I love the tee Lori made - she'll wear it with the skirt as an everyday set. I loved this fabric so much that wanted a tee to match! I think I'll make myself one on a pink tee. The bows are petite bows and they are sooo cute!

And just a reminder...DS2's tee

IMG_2934.jpg

Those are both so cute! Love them!!!

So I finished two skirts

Yeah!!!! Those shorts look great!! I made the same mistake a FEW Times...yes not just once but a few times so don't feel bad!!! :rotfl2: You did an awesome job!!!

Just thought I would share a few pictures from our December 2006 trip. Here is my little one with the jeans I painted. I knew it is not a "true" sewing project though I did sew the white fur on the bottom. Hahahaha. :lovestruc

(This particular day it was so cold, my baby's nose was red the whole day. By nightfall we had to purchase extra sweatshirts just to keep warm as we watched the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom)

Those are so cute!! It's boutique project, that's for sure!

Don't you just hate being cold though!

And, your new siggy pictures are adorable!

I wanted to let everyone know that I heard from pixiedust_in_ak today (Amy). I know quite a few of us were worried about her since she hadn't posted in awhile. She says that she has been under the weather for awhile, but the baby is doing fine. She's due in about 6 weeks!

Hopefully, she starts feeling better soon!

Yay I managed some sewing today.

An altered version of a pillowcase dress - A :hippie: retro inspired style where I was trying out one of my late night thinkings lol :) . Seemed to work ok so I can put a tick on it for when my disney fabric arrives. Might even make myself one :)

Do you think it needs a ruffle or a pleated hem?? or just a normal hem?

This thread just barely started and I am already behind!

Hi everyone! My name is Shanna.

I have been lurking in the other for quite some time, trying to catch up. But, that was impossible :) Maybe now I stand a chance :) So, bad news you were moved, good news I feel like I can jump in now.

You all inspired me to get my sewing machine fixed. Making my daughter clothes for DW is my new obsession.

We are planning our first trip to DW in April. I am just beside myself excited.

That dress is adorable and I love the tutu! May I ask exactly how you did this. I'm so new to sewing I've only done some PJ pants for my family as practice but I picked up some tulle to make dd some dance tutu's.

Oh another quick question for anyone out there. I picked up some black knit with spandex in it from the remanents pile the other day. Its very stretchy just like her other dance clothes. I really want to make her a simple short circle skirt to practice in but i dont know how to make the waist. Should I put elastic in it with a simple casing but I'm afraid of the look of that. Or should I use elastic thread since the fabric itself is so stretchy? Thanks in advance for your help!
