Do you think it needs a ruffle or a pleated hem?? or just a normal hem?

I think I like it with just a normal hem. The tutu is really cute.

She's getting ready to try to climb the stairs for the 100th time that day in the last picture.
There are so many more where these came from, but you get the idea of how busy she was, and at a young age!!

Your dd is so cute...love the look on her face when she was trying to climb the stairs!

Ok Saturday night I was looking at vintage patterns online, and I found the cutest reversible, wraparound, jumper dress. The person selling it only had one copy of the pattern and it was a size 12. Way too big for DD. So I thought about it and decided that it was too simple to buy a pattern for and decided to just make it up myself. So here is what I was doing from 12:00 am Sunday until 3:00 am Sunday.

CIMG0523.jpg
This is the bottom back of the dress. Those little triangles were a pain in the nose to do.

CIMG0522.jpg
The purple front.

CIMG0521.jpg
The pink bottom back.

CIMG0520.jpg
And the pink front. DD doesn't like the ribbons, so I have to replace them. I was thinking about Disneyfying this dress with something Princessy. DD thinks that the bottom looks like a cheerleader outfit. If I ever do another one I will do it a little differently.

Wow seeing the post count makes me realize we're missing alot of members from the old thread!

I love that fabric! The mickey hear ears are the cutest. I don't think I told you this, but when Megan saw the one for your son, she squealed! Yes, you have to make yourself one too!

Here is what I did today. I am trying to clear out my to-do projects so I can justify buying fabric to make something with all the pillowcases I bought!

Oh, and I was not allowed to take a picture of the boy's face. He was fresh out of the shower and his hair was wet. :confused3 I guess it made sense to an 8 year old, even if I didn't get it.

Cute pjs!
So I finished two skirts

What do you all thinks?

So my DH decided to be all super sweet and mine and went out to buy me a surger. Problem is I have never used one and I have never seen one in use. So I basically have no clue how to use it lol! Any good suggestions on surging for dummies?
The skirts look great and what a sweet DH! I love my serger! I just watched the CD that came with it and pretty much figured out the basics.

I just want to say everyone here is so absolutely talented! After reading through your post, I wanted to share with you something I made. Back in June my DD and I went to WDW with one of my best friends. She made all of our ressies and took care of calling and make any changes. I started thinking I wanted to do something special for her. Something as a reminder of our trip and what it meant to myself and DD for all the time she put into making it magical for us.

I made her this ragtime quilt.

SheanaSurprise2.jpg

I had made one just like it for my DD, but hers has hearts where I used Mickey heads for my friends. It turned out to be a big hit and she loves it! I just made my own stencil for the Mickey heads and ran around searching for the different Disney fabric. It was super easy to make!

Add me to the "I want the instructions" list!

Yay I managed some sewing today.

An altered version of a pillowcase dress - A :hippie: retro inspired style where I was trying out one of my late night thinkings lol :) . Seemed to work ok so I can put a tick on it for when my disney fabric arrives. Might even make myself one :)

Love the dress, I think it would look good with just a normal hem. And your DD is GORGEOUS!

This thread just barely started and I am already behind!

Hi everyone! My name is Shanna.

I have been lurking in the other for quite some time, trying to catch up. But, that was impossible :) Maybe now I stand a chance :) So, bad news you were moved, good news I feel like I can jump in now.

You all inspired me to get my sewing machine fixed. Making my daughter clothes for DW is my new obsession.

We are planning our first trip to DW in April. I am just beside myself excited.

Welcome! but I am soooooooooooooooooo jealous that you are going in April! We just got back and have no idea when we'll be able to go again--probably 3 or 4 years :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Can you PLEASE tell me how to do this? I have wanted to do something EXACTLY like this for a while. I have no idea where to even start.

There is a free pattern you can get off the internet. Just google rag quilt.

Thank you everyone for your help with my shorts. I spent some quality time with my seam ripper after putting the kids to bed DH says that I should start a sewing blog to journal my progress, and I have to put that picture on there so I can look back one day and laugh at it. LOL Anyway, here's the final product....

I am also wondering if you try and match up the print on your shorts/shirts...obviously mine isn't since rocket is chop off on the front.

Thanks again....I will come back and get caught up with the rest of the post but I wanted to do a quick post of the finished product.

Jenny

Good job! This is super. And whoever told you what you had done wrong is sooooo smart! I couldn't tell what to do to fix it!!!

We saw Jiminy twice in MK in November. Both times he was just inside the gates on the right at the foot of the steps of whatever that shop is (ggggrrrrrr!) maybe something-or-other Emporium? Anyway it's the first one on the right as you walk in & it's huge.

This is dd4 & my Mom who LOVES Jiminy

Love it! I would love to see Jiminy Cricket some time!

here's a quick pic of DD in her "minnie ate the zoo" dress - which I think looked better on than laying on my messy bed. And one of DS and Lilo just cause it's cute!

They look much better! They are really cute! I have sewn stuff together wrong as well -- it comes with the territory.

I just finished the jeans to go with my Pooh outfit. I love how all of this came together. Very subtle and feminine. I am now officially done sewing for out trip! Only have to suffer through today and tomorrow at home!

Just thought I would share a few pictures from our December 2006 trip. Here is my little one with the jeans I painted. I knew it is not a "true" sewing project though I did sew the white fur on the bottom. Hahahaha. :lovestruc

(This particular day it was so cold, my baby's nose was red the whole day. By nightfall we had to purchase extra sweatshirts just to keep warm as we watched the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom)

Very cute and definitely something you would find on Voldemort! Great job!

I wanted to let everyone know that I heard from pixiedust_in_ak today (Amy). I know quite a few of us were worried about her since she hadn't posted in awhile. She says that she has been under the weather for awhile, but the baby is doing fine. She's due in about 6 weeks!

Hopefully, she starts feeling better soon!

So glad to hear that everything is okay! I hope she is feeling better soon!

What a little cutie pie!!! Parker was the same way -- always climbing on or getting into something!

How cute is she?!! She reminds me of my DD when she was a baby. She was always into something. Everyday she would empty her toybox and play with every toy in the box and every naptime and bedtime I would fill the box back up just to have it emptied the next time she was awake.

th_jennaandhermess.jpg

Sorry this is so blurry. It is a scanned picture, but it is DD and her mess.

Oh I remember those days of dumping all the toys out and cleaning them up -- only to be dumped out again and again!
