Monsters, Inc., How Ironic

I'm sure they want it open before 2030 which will be Disneyland's 75th.

My point was that they announced other expansions a year before they started construction. Avengers Campus expansion seems to be moving along at a decent pace but Coco and Avatar are :snail::snail:

Both Avatar and Coco are expanding the actual footprint of the park, not just back stage areas like Avengers. I assume because of this there are extra steps they need to take in permitting etc.

Where is Coco expanding to that is outside of the backstage area?

Wait people think Coco is going slow? They are literally moving the backstage stuff now...its not opening until a year after the Avengers stuff and thats not even fully built out year on the outside

Coco should be much easier to built as well compared to Avatar and Avengers...its a boat ride D ticket

I don't know about other people, but I think it is moving slow. In 2024, D'Amaro said, "Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving." It is 2026 and they are barely moving dirt.

Because Coco should be a simple ride relative to Avatar and Avengers, I would have expected them to knock it out early. I can't speak for others, but that is my personal take. I still think that they are going to transform the dining area (Boardwalk Pizza and Paradise Gardens) to create a region/land rather than just add a stand alone attraction.

I dislike the rebranding of DCA that’s been going on. I’ve never seen any Marvel movies nor Avatar, and I don’t really care about them. However, the area where Monsters Inc is currently has been killed off and doesn’t make a ton of sense.

I hope they at least put some decent food in there somewhere. I’d love a west coast Satuli canteen.

Some are speculating that Avatar is going to be scrapped in favor of something else that fits the area better, hence the pause of closing Monsters. The area that Avatar was set to go in may simply not be large enough to do it justice. Zootopia would fit much better and would be unique to the US parks.

Man, I wish this were true, I'd love some Zootopia. But I'm not sure how they backtrack on Avatar now

It wouldn't be the first time a project was scraped after it was announced. The Subs were supposed to be an Atlantis attraction but that was just silently scrapped when the movie didn't perform as well as they wanted.

Who's gonna tell James Cameron? Cuz I'm not doing it. ;)

Hey Jim, it just isn't going to work. 😉

I just can't wait for avatar to open and have no lines....thats how the entire Disneyland community acts

Avatar will have I think 2ish hour lines most days like GOTG and Cars

I know Zootopia or Monstersland make more sense but its not the direction they are going and we are trading a reskined C ticket for a modern E ticket....

I feel like avatar is very wait and see if you like it...but if they can give us a forest that glows at night and a good attraction, I feel it will become a classic in no time. If you don't care about the films cool...treat it like an ordinal IP and your on a boat ride on an alien planet

I have only seen the fist Avatar and have no real interest in the others. But I do think Avatar is going to be a great "experience" (Disney's word) and the attraction should get long lines. It just doesn't fit the area. I think it would fit better in a Disneyland forward project for Disneyland not in DCA.

100%. I love the Pandora in FL and wish there was more to do there.
