Hi everyone! I'm definately not new here. You old timers should recognize me;) Just thought I'd pop in and subscribe to the new thread. Every now and then, I come see what you all have been up to. I just can't keep up with the speed of this thread. It's almost a full-time job!:rotfl:

wowza, I was only gone for a couple of hours and this thread just blasted off! Today my girls wore some of their customs to the mall and got soo much attention. They did look pretty cute! I will take pictures once they get up from nap!

Is it ok for me to make a shirt for me? I was thinking of doing a mickey head on a white shirt but since I can't and don't have a way to sew it would have to be like my dd's princess onsies and have fabric paint, is that dorky for a grown woman?

I have made several for me. I did sew around them, but if you use heat n bond regular (not lite) then you probably wouldn't have to do either if you don't want the puffy paint.

Carrie - I did not quote but love all the sewing! Wow!

th_kramer1980.jpg

Here is me in May 1980 hugging the Mouse! I have the blue shorts and the Tube top. I was 7 years old almost 8. My brother is sticking his hand in Mickey's Mouth. My sister is wearing the light blue shorts and the striped top.

The little guy with the white blond hair in the lower left corner is my other brother he was only 2 1/2.

We all stayed in a tent in Fort Wilderness. It was so HOT. This was my second trip to WDW.

Wow! The memories this brings back! I don't think as a child I was ever near a character, not sure why, just don't remember seeing them.

Those strollers (in background) were a hoot! I cannot believe how long they had those things!

First ever posting!!!! Where are the balloons and confetti!!!

Can you believe this is the 2nd dress I had ever made? Bonnie is turning 3 here. 2002

party: Wow, did you make that cake too? I also love the black with pink polka dots one-piece. All your stuff is great: I can't wait to see more!

YAYYYY! I found ya!!! I reeeeealy hope we didn't lose all our "history!"

This is the dress Misty (Spongie) made for Norah. She wore it to school yesterday and LOVED it! She got tons ooooh's and ahhh's from other-mamas and teachers. :cool2:

For the picture, she would NOT cooperate  so I bribed her with GUM (which she never gets!)...

She did not get any.
th_Pict0035A.jpg

Please forgive her pissy moment. We were running late for pre-school.

Spongie did a great job! Please give that baby some gum: sometimes Princesses just don't feel like modeling!

OK, Guys I am going to take a break from the Dis for awhile. I need to get off these boards some are just weirding me out, so I need to "step back" and figure out if I belong on the Dis:confused3

I need a favor though, once they decide what they want to do with the boards and were our thread is going to be, can someone PM me please?

Thanks!

We'll miss you, I hope everything is ok.

Carrie, great photos! You could never bore us with you creativity!

I found this photo from a few years ago. My like second outfit I ever made!
Lets see. Leigh was about 2 1/2. She'll be 6 next month! Where oh where does the time fly?
Leighanna_1-1.jpg

I gave up after this one, until about a year ago!

You have always liked white, haven't you? I think it's cute!

Those cheeks! How do you not pinch them all the time? Oh, the skirt is ok too. J/k I think it looks great without a ruffle.

Last year, before my trip, I was frequenting the huge thread for a while, then when we came back, life got in the way! I never thought it would be this long until I got back. I promised to post a picture of my first effort at that time. I never did it. I made seven days worth of outfits for my daughter and my niece.

Here it is. I look at it now and say "what was I thinking?"

image39.jpg

I actually made a kind of a t-shirt dress from a tank top, cut out part of the design from the fabric and appliqued it onto the top, outlined with puffy glittery fabric paint.

Somewhere I have pictures of a few of the other things, but this was easiest to find as it was from photopass :)

Aw, if your daughter loves it, that's all that matters. I shudder sometimes when Megan puts something on that I made when I first started, but I figure if she is happy with it then I should be too. Can't wait to see more of your pictures.

This I'm sorry to say will be my last post for the evening. My Aunt called me to tell me that her granddaughter, Jenna's cousin who stayed over last weekend, has head lice. I checked DD's hair when she came home from school and found nits. :scared1: Straight to the store for some shampoo and it's gonna be a long night making sure there are no eggs or bugs left over. :scared1: is all I can say. This is my first time to deal with this as the mom. There isn't going to be any hot water left when I get done washing all the bedding.

Oh no! One of Megan's soccer teammates had lice. Both the boy and his brother got crew cuts. I have heard that hairspray keeps their legs from sticking to the hair. I don't know if it's true, but that's what I have been doing. I hope you can get rid of all the pests quickly!

th_Disneyland027.jpg

Not sure who was more excited about meeting Minnie...me or Saylor!

What beautiful kids, and you too! You did a great job with all the outfits!

I love Dumbo and little Timothy Mouse! So original! The Wendy nightgown is great too!

I love the American Girl outfit! Isn't that dachshund a cutie pie?:cutie: Sophie is wearing her coat around the house. I think she likes it. I may add some more velcro to help it fit better.

Thanks! So does that mean Sophie gets to keep the coat and you're going to make another one for the snauser? My son said that the coat had to be store-bought because of the ric rac. He was very impressed!

Hi everyone! I'm definately not new here. You old timers should recognize me;) Just thought I'd pop in and subscribe to the new thread. Every now and then, I come see what you all have been up to. I just can't keep up with the speed of this thread. It's almost a full-time job!:rotfl:

Welcome back! I remember you!

How did I get so far behind?

Ok like I posted yesterday. This is my first attempt so be gentle ... but honest. I am not really happy with the way it is turning out. I am VERY thankful I took the advice of everyone and matched threads though. At least now it is wearable. I need to learn how to go SLOW I think. And I am fine with lines but those curves are eating me up lol. Eyes are beyond a pain. ;) I am amazed at how you ladies do the princess faces so beautifully! My noses just look scary! But I am learning and I have faith it will get better.

The little squash I had done last night ... I did more tonight but have not had a chance to take pictures and upload.

sewing006.jpg

Now my question is this looking more boy like to you guys or is it just me? I am seriously pondering putting it up and waiting till I get a little boy (very big possibility). My little one I am making this for I just got word they are starting to look at Grandma as a possible placement for her and I think she will be gone before she really grows into it ... it is a size to big.

My second question for those of you that applique. We are going in Dec again ... I have NO idea who or how many will be with us when we go. We have gotten 2 rooms just to make sure we can accomadate any kiddos we might have and be able to talk a judge into letting us take with us. Obviously I want those kiddos to match the rest of us. Can I do applique work on just the fabric part of the applique and then attatch it to an outfit later if need be? Or would it pucker on the shirt ... pants ... or whatever?

I think your squash looks great. I don't think I have ever said that before, lol. Seriously, you are being much too hard on yourself. And veggie tales are unisex, put a lacey t-shirt under it for a girl if you want. My daughter would be thrilled with them! In fact, I'd better not let her see them or she will want them to go see the movie in. We tried to go Monday but it was sold out.

It is really really cute. :) The kids love it. My 2 and half year old sat through the whole thing ... I was quiet impressed! :thumbsup2

Ty for the compliment. I really do appreciate it. The sqaush honestly looks better than his friends do lmao. Hence why I have not uploaded anymore pictures ... but like I said you gotta love those threads that "blend" in. :rotfl:

I think the overalls could be unisex. They're really, really cute! IF you wanted to make them more girly, add a ruffle to the bottom, or a row or two of ric-rac. That should do it. I think they look great as they are though.

Sorry , but am I the only one this irritates? I came back this morning to see what you guys thought of my newest creations, and I can't even access the old thread. Couldn't it just be a "sticky"???? Anyway, because I am a shameless wanna be sewer, here they are again

My first twirl skirt and re used Minnie head on a tee.

I am glad you re-posted. I love both outfits. I made DD a dress out of a tee shirt and the same princess flannel. It unfortunately did not hold up well to all of the partying she did on New Years Eve  Yours looks great! Have a great time on your mother/daughter trip. I have my mother/daughters trip in March and I can not wait.

It amazes me you all have the time for these things, but it definitely keeps you inspired. Thank you everyone for giving me that push off the couch and back to my sewing machine.

I always think the same thing. I do not know how you all make the time for all of the sewing. I can not get it together over here :) If I am sewing my house is a mess and if my house is clean I can not make time to sew. It is a never-ending battle.

This was an outfit I posted before we closed down..
300436462.jpg

I totally CASEd this from a :wizard: seller...LOL

Oh My goodness I LOVE it!!! I am so glad you re-posted this. I am looking for some cute ideas for Katie for our upcoming trip. I have about a million yards of Minnie dot and not a clue on how to use it. This is fabulous. I will also add I saw the one on :wizard: and I like yours a lot better. I think it is the ruffle jeans verse the ribbon that I like. Great Job

Nostalgic for a thread, are we all very sappy or what? I love it! :grouphug:

*sniff*

I would NEVER have opened up a new thread to tell you guys that I have a fear of styrofoam, crocheted blankets, and yes, I too have a fear of cotton balls! (never knew anyone else felt like that about cotton balls!) me???? :confused3 :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I also miss the old thread :sad1: I do not think we are to sappy for being nostalgic about our old thread.

Of course I feel that way about my Target store  I waited a long time for Target to move to my town. The kids and I stalked it all summer watching the progress on the new building. We would all cheer in the car when we drove by and there was something new completed (doesn’t take much to make us happy). Now that it is here I miss my old Target. I drove over about a week ago and told DH while we were there that I just felt like I was home.... He thinks I am nuts!

Ohhh... I also have a fear of cotton balls. They are not even in our house. I shudder just thinking about touching them. And a wet cotton ball would put me in the nut house!!! :rotfl: I also hate the vegetable Hominy simply because I think it looks a little like wet cotton soaked in butter??? I have issues. LOL! I also have a fear of the following in no particular order: corn fields, crunching apples, the names of bodily fluids (particularly one that starts with a P), public rest room’s and teeth scrapping on forks. Wow when I type that out it looks like I really have issues. I promise I am pretty normal:)

First ever posting!!!! Where are the balloons and confetti!!!

Can you believe this is the 2nd dress I had ever made? Bonnie is turning 3 here. 2002

I am so impressed that you smocked your second dress. Smocking is on my list of things to learn. Maybe in time for my grand children???

I am making Katie the same cake for her third birthday. I am so sad to actually write that. My baby is turning 3.:sad1:

This I'm sorry to say will be my last post for the evening. My Aunt called me to tell me that her granddaughter, Jenna's cousin who stayed over last weekend, has head lice. I checked DD's hair when she came home from school and found nits. :scared1: Straight to the store for some shampoo and it's gonna be a long night making sure there are no eggs or bugs left over. :scared1: is all I can say. This is my first time to deal with this as the mom. There isn't going to be any hot water left when I get done washing all the bedding.

I am so so so sorry. I feel your pain. My DD had lice so bad when she was placed with us. It was so bad that 3 caseworkers from our agency came over to help me with the nits. I remember crying as I was treating her. The one thing that worked for us was olive oil and prayer. I am not kidding. After trying all of the OTC stuff (even something to make them glow and a comb to shock them), I doused her head in olive oil, put a bag on it for about 4 hours and prayed a lot. It either worked a miracle for us or the Lord was just cutting me a break because I was about to LOSE it. Good luck!

Here's some photos from our trip!!!

Disneyland004.jpg

You guys look so great. I love the matching sweat shirts and skirts.

All you guys that went to disney as kids are SO lucky!!! I wish I had :sad1:
My first trip to disney was my honeymoon!!! And now my 4 yr. old has been there twice!!! He doesn't know how good hes got it!!:goodvibes

I feel the same way. Our family vacations as a kid were weekend trips to Kings Island... Not exactly Disney!

We have had our Kids 5 years on February 26 and they have been 6 times. You can add 4 more kids to the doesn’t know how good they have it club.

I have been sewing like crazy here. My house is in shambles to prove it :scared1: I am trying to CAB 2cutekidz’s Tink outfit. I must say I am pretty proud of it. My appliqué is coming along slowly, but looks pretty good.

My grandma who is 72 came over on Tuesday and we made 4 dresses. They were for here great granddaughters (Katie included). She was so tickled with how great the came out. She bucked me all the way on the YCMT pattern insisting that we needed and actual pattern, but after the first one she was sold. They are great. I will be posting pics next week. I also made Katie a few other things I am dying to show you all. My DH is buying me a new computer next week :cheer2: I am so excited. I am ashamed to admit I am running windows 95 and it is not pretty. Every time I have Internet problems my cable company reminds me that widows 95 in not supported operating system...grrrrrr...

Well- I need to get to bed. We have another weekend long cheer competition tomorrow. We spent last weekend in Indy with 11,000 cheerleaders. It took me 2 days to recuperate. I am hoping we do better this week. Our girls were awful last week and came in 15th place. There were only 15 teams in our division. It was a mess. My dd was actually dropped on her face. I thought she was seriously hurt, but she got up and kept on going. I will add... they have never got less than 2nd place, but lately they have all been fighting and not getting along. Coming in last has really brought them back together as a team. I just wish I could say the same thing for some of the cheer moms. The girls looked great all week, so wish us luck.

Good Night.

Those are so cute!
I sure I must have seen this before but don't remember it! It is "darling".

Of course, you've seen Wendy before ;)

Your Veggies look great! I love Larry, he's my favorite. Practice is the best thing for appliques and going really slow on turns. And those are great for girls too! I was going to suggest the same thing as Shannon, add some ruffles if you want, I know my girls would love those. Great job, and don't be so hard on yourself. But then again, I'm just as bad if not worse when it comes to my stuff. Anyway, it looks good, especially for your first time.

We leave on Wed the 30th! Only 5 full days left at home. Good thing, because it's freezing and the schools are closed!

   5 days!!!!   I love that Tshirt gown idea, I still haven't done one, but I plan to.

Oh, you really need a model for showing that Minnie outfit :lmao: ;)

IMG_1201.jpg
I LOVE the ribbon tops! SO cute! And, can I ask...still learning here...what is the Alenne's you're refering to? And how can I make something as cute as that without sewing? WOW! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Aleene's ok to Wash It is a fabric glue. I cut out the little mickeys, painted athin layer of glue on the back and stuck them where I wanted them. I made sure they were on really good, even weighted them down as they dried. The tee is done the same way. It was very easy. I'm sure it's not going to hold up for very long, but it worked when I didn't know how to sew.

I have a few tops to finish for myself and 2 more to do for DS then I will be all done for our trip!! And finish up a top and pair of jeans for DD (need to attatch the straps and bling her Tink jeans) We leave in 16 days!! Whoohoo!!

For the picture, she would NOT cooperate  so I bribed her with GUM (which she never gets!)...

She did not get any.

Please forgive her pissy moment. We were running late for pre-school.

Are you telling us that you falsely bribed that child? Poor Nora, give her some gum!

ETA: That's cute Spongie! :)

Hi Everyone,

Well, here is my stash from Walmart clearance - now, what should I make? Please give any suggestions!!!

th_100_0378.jpg
th_100_0375.jpg

do you think these 2 were meant to coordinate? Flowers and stripes - are they okay????
th_100_0379.jpg

Holy Cow!!!!!!! You got all that on clearance? I may have missed it, but is your WM closing it's fabric section? I see lots of possibilities in there :)

FYI: my real name isn't Tinka Belle so feel free to call me Crystal. Tinka Belle is actually our dog's name. :lmao: We call her Tinka or Tinks for short.
???????!!!!!!!??????!!!!!WHAT????!!!!???!!!???!!You imposter!!!!!!
How DARE you come on here with a false name!!!

BAN HER BAN HER I SAY!!!!!

Nice to know your name Crystal! :rotfl:
What I love aout ths thread is that it's just streamlined. I don't have to go back and look at each thread when I want to read something.
I like that too!

WHAT IN THE HERMIT CRAB IS GOING ON AROUND HERE???!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say I am just glad to find you guys, I was going into panic mode! So I guess I will be okay, just as long as no one goes away forever!

I'm glad you found us too!

This is from spring 1976 or maybe '75? I don't really know. I just remember it got real cold for FL & we had to wear our winter coats. The 1st is my sis (she loves anything Disney)....
th_70sSnacks-1.jpg

And here is right to left, my little sis (3-4 y.o.?), My Mom & me (7 y.o.?) I'm with the red hair, blondie on the far right is my older sis (9 - 10 y.o.?)....
th_70sWDWGirls.jpg

Funny thing is, I own a pair of glasses like my Mom's cat glasses in the photo & wore them one night to Disneyland also! I was freakin' my family out because they kept thinking I had Mom's glasses on!

Anyone else have some 70s trip photos or TR's to share?

ps-My bell bottom pants are some what custom. We sewed a strawberry patch on the knee! Not exactly Disboutique, but definitely homemade.
These are great!!! So, both you and your sister look like Kirsten Dunst! Very cute!

Look what I did today, at the expense of my dirty house:

th_100_2195.jpg

Just a reminder, it goes with this outfit:

th_100_2190.jpg

Hey Nancy! Guess what I got in the mail today? Sophie/Scrappy on my JoAnn's circular! Megan said, how did they get a picture of Scrappy? :rotfl:

I was going to tell you Stephanie, I hate to say this really, but since I love you so much.... You need to make another outfit for your friend, that just isn't good enough. And....I just so happen to know a little girl named Lydia ROSE that could take that mess off your hands for you! ;)

Just kidding! That is beautiful! I love the doll outfit too!

Love the old pictures! Now I want to sit and go through old pictures! I have 3 carseats at my front door that need put back in the car, a cabinet full of food that needs put back (cleaning out) and living room full of crap. Oh and let's not forget the moonsand all over the table! And what am I doing, reading this and thinking of getting something else OUT vs PUT AWAY!
I found the Nautilus at our Walmart, and am considering getting it for Lydia, do you have that one yet? I really want a pink carseat for her though, so I think I will wait to see if they come out with a different cover!

I would love to see your old pictures!!!

wowza, I was only gone for a couple of hours and this thread just blasted off!

DEFINETELY OK! Go for it!!!

Bonnie and Minnie!

I think I am done.

Thanks!!!!!

WOW!!!! Those are some FANTASTIC outfits!!! I'm glad you learned to post them, those were great!!! We can never get tired of too many pictures!!!

party: :welcome: to the picture posting club!!!

Anyone else having problems with photobucket? I can log on but it says I am viewing my album as a guest. It won't let me upload or delete anything.

Nevermind it's working now!!

Ok I think that I have the lice issue under control. I washed DD's hair in the shampoo, washed all of the bedding in the house in hot water, closed DD's room off until I can get the RID spray, washed DD's fake fur coat and all her jackets in hot water as well, I even washed my own hair in the shampoo just in case. My skin won't stop crawling though. As I was combing DD's hair with the tiny comb that came with the shampoo I noticed that it wasn't that bad there weren't that many to get out of her hair. I will however be following up in a day or two just cause I still have the willies. I'm sorry that anybody has ever had to go through this and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I really feel for my aunt though. She is the one who will be doing Bailee's hair and she has super thick and long hair. Bailee's mom isn't good for anything. She didn't even think anything was wrong with the poor girl. Well sorry for making everyone's head start itching.
