Those are cute! I like the black/white one too. My dd got to play Cogsworth in December and it was the highlight of her day!

The Dumbo outfit is just gorgeous and I also like the dress that you dd designed with your help. I love the princess toile fabric..I have seen a pooh bear one at our joanns but not the princess one.

Thank you! The princess toile is at Hobby Lobby and it was only $4/yd this time. I think it was $8 last summer. :confused3

For the picture, she would NOT cooperate  so I bribed her with GUM (which she never gets!)...

She did not get any.

Please forgive her pissy moment. We were running late for pre-school.
That dress looks familiar!! How adorable!! What a great friend you have in Misty! I love that you're as mean as me and didn't give her any gum. :thumbsup2

OK, Guys I am going to take a break from the Dis for awhile. I need to get off these boards some are just weirding me out, so I need to "step back" and figure out if I belong on the

I need a favor though, once they decide what they want to do with the boards and were our thread is going to be, can someone PM me please?

Thanks!
 I don't want you to go!!

th_Leighanna_1-1.jpg

I gave up after this one, until about a year ago!
That is so cute!!!

I love it! I think it looks great without a ruffle. But, it would look great with a ruffle, too. Lots of help, aren't I? ;) I wanted to buy Tessa that "My Daddy can fix anything" t-shirt, but it didn't come in her size! She has one that says "My Daddy is handsome", though.

Last year, before my trip, I was frequenting the huge thread for a while, then when we came back, life got in the way! I never thought it would be this long until I got back. I promised to post a picture of my first effort at that time. I never did it. I made seven days worth of outfits for my daughter and my niece.

Here it is. I look at it now and say "what was I thinking?"

th_image39.jpg
I can't see the picture very well, but :welcome: back!! I can't wait to see what else you make!

OH. MY. GOSH!!!
Just got back from DL late last night, got on this morning and you were GONE! SOOOO happy to have found you again! YEESH! I think I'm completely addicted or something!!!:lmao: :lmao: duh...
Anyway! I have seen some amazing outfits and am preparing to CASE as we speak!!! WOW to ALL of you! Such talent..I am truly inspired!
DL was amazing, btw!!! I'll post some pics once I get them on my computer! Little DD's outfit was a HUGE success! Big DD's too...I need to start planning our next trip just for the outfits to make! Ah well, kids can wear Disney all the time, right? hehe! ;)

Yup, kids can wear Disney all the time! Actually, I was looking in my closet last night and noticed the first 10 or so shirts I have hanging up go like this: Cinderella, Tinkerbell, Snow White, Tinkerbell, Pirates of the Carribean, Mickey Mouse, Tinkerbell, The Muppets, etc... I think I have a problem!

This I'm sorry to say will be my last post for the evening. My Aunt called me to tell me that her granddaughter, Jenna's cousin who stayed over last weekend, has head lice. I checked DD's hair when she came home from school and found nits. Straight to the store for some shampoo and it's gonna be a long night making sure there are no eggs or bugs left over. :scared1: is all I can say. This is my first time to deal with this as the mom. There isn't going to be any hot water left when I get done washing all the bedding.
I feel for yah! My brother's kids used to get lice a lot and it's NO fun!

Great pictures and wonderful outfits!! Thanks for sharing them!

I love the dress for your granddaughter!! How sweet! Of course I also love the Dumbo and the Princess and the Wendy and the Belle! Tessa wants a Wendy dress for WDW. Sawyer has a Peter Pan outfit, so I may have to oblige.

Also, how hard is it to get a rolled hemming foot and gather/ruffler for any machine? I mean are there some brands/models that you can't do that with?

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think all machines are either low shank, high shank, or slant shank. So, you should be able to find rolled hem foots and rufflers for any machine.

Ok here's what I've been whipping up :rotfl2: :rotfl2: lately...

the first is for a quick trip to animal kindgdom tomorrow - I hear it's going to be cooler than expected so I guess it's going to be tights and jacket with it... I just hope that punky brewster - I mean DD - doesn't try to wear purple tights and pink shoes!!! Not my most favorite that I have done - but DD picked out the pattern and the fabric combo..

2220209078_e27a79bebb.jpg

Second is the pirates of the caribbean fabric I picked up at Hobby Lobby - these are for DS who will be two in April..working on a T-Shirt for him next...

2220209236_5a8f4e9082.jpg

Next is a top that I have to work on a twirl skirt for - it's for DD to wear for her B-day next weekend...

2220209140_0af3ab9241.jpg

And my favorite - a top/dress for DD - it's her birthday gift and my favorite of what I have made recently... the back is elastic/halter style..

2219416967_76d73fd295.jpg

And well just cause she was sooo cute playing Mrs Potts with Belle (she had on her minnie pillow case dress I made so it's thread related ;) )

These are all fabulous! I REALLY love the birthday party fabric! Where did you find it? SO cute!

Ok, back to the "mother thread" question. The original message was that the long threads would be back in about 24 hours. WELL, where is it? If a MOD is reading this, could you please explain when the thread will be back? Thanks!

Well- I need to get to bed. We have another weekend long cheer competition tomorrow. We spent last weekend in Indy with 11,000 cheerleaders. It took me 2 days to recuperate. I am hoping we do better this week. Our girls were awful last week and came in 15th place. There were only 15 teams in our division. It was a mess. My dd was actually dropped on her face. I thought she was seriously hurt, but she got up and kept on going. I will add... they have never got less than 2nd place, but lately they have all been fighting and not getting along. Coming in last has really brought them back together as a team. I just wish I could say the same thing for some of the cheer moms. The girls looked great all week, so wish us luck.

Good luck with the cheerleading. How sad that the girls were fighting. I hope they get their act together. I think the parents are worse than the kids. My son is on a developmental competitive soccer team, which means they are a year or two younger than the teams they play against. Needless to say, they don't win a lot of games. There are some parents that complain and moan the entire game. It is so annoying! If the kids are having fun and learning, why complain all the time? Ugh!

I was going to tell you Stephanie, I hate to say this really, but since I love you so much.... You need to make another outfit for your friend, that just isn't good enough. And....I just so happen to know a little girl named Lydia ROSE that could take that mess off your hands for you! ;)

Just kidding! That is beautiful! I love the doll outfit too!

I started to get worried, I wasn't sure where you were going with that, lol! Of course I should have thought of Lydia Rose, what was I thinking?

By the way, if you would see LisaZoe's shirt that I CABed this from, you would not be so impressed. She is my sewing idol! :lovestruc

Ok I think that I have the lice issue under control. I washed DD's hair in the shampoo, washed all of the bedding in the house in hot water, closed DD's room off until I can get the RID spray, washed DD's fake fur coat and all her jackets in hot water as well, I even washed my own hair in the shampoo just in case. My skin won't stop crawling though. As I was combing DD's hair with the tiny comb that came with the shampoo I noticed that it wasn't that bad there weren't that many to get out of her hair. I will however be following up in a day or two just cause I still have the willies. I'm sorry that anybody has ever had to go through this and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I really feel for my aunt though. She is the one who will be doing Bailee's hair and she has super thick and long hair. Bailee's mom isn't good for anything. She didn't even think anything was wrong with the poor girl. Well sorry for making everyone's head start itching.

I hope you got them all, it sounds like you were very thorough. Poor aunt!

Have fun at the world! It is 50 degrees here in Tampa so she might need the tights! I love the black and white dress with the triangle hem, so cute! And she is such a cutie playing Mrs. Potts!

IMy DH ended up taking her to bed, he said she yacked his ear off for awhile before finally staying still long enough to pass out. Does anyone else have a child who is just so busy that they can't even settle to sleep but when they finally stay still long enough they just pass out?

Me, me, me! I can certainly relate. My daughter was a late talker, and I was a little glad because the first one was so chatty. He started talking in complete sentences when he was a baby, sounding like a little adult. So when Megan started talking closer to three I thought I would have one chatty one and one quiet one. Nope! Megan talks more than the rest of us put together. She is so funny though, so I don't mind (mostly). She will even get up out of a dead sleep talking about something that happened earlier that day.

I've been steadily reading on the old thread for weeks (months?!) trying to catch up. I still didn't really, but with the old thread gone I picked up here and feel kind of relieved to be current. I don't sew - really - and don't have anyone to make cute outfits for if I did, but I do have a sewing machine and a fabric stash and assorted ribbons and notions! And I love seeing the cute outfits you've made! I love seeing pictures of your outfits after you've made your trip to the world! If I get the chance I'll keep "catching up" (I'm nothing if I'm not persistent!) But I'm definitely glad to be in the here and now!

I do have two dresses I smocked with serious supervision in a class! I'll try to post the pics sometime.

Thanks for checking in! What is keeping you from sewing? You could make cute outfits for yourself?

Thanks!!!!!

OMGosh Carrie....your outfits are wonderful! What a great job!!! Your DD is just beautiful too! :cutie: Your titles crackyed me up!

This thread is moving faster then the other with probably a 1/4 of the people! I sure hope everyone else finds us!

We would love to see the smocked dresses! That is NOT an easy task!

I found the Nautilus at our Walmart, and am considering getting it for Lydia, do you have that one yet? I really want a pink carseat for her though, so I think I will wait to see if they come out with a different cover!

I would love to see your old pictures!!!

Yes, we got the Nautilus!

DH brought it home one night, still wasn't on the shelves (but he is a manager there and I kept bugging him about finding it for me). I really like it. I am used to Recaro and Britax (and had a fisher price way back when) so it kind of seems cheap when picking it up and lugging it and putting it together, but honestly we like it alot! Oh, we have the cosco apex too and I like it 100% better then that. It seems smaller and like Dallas is more snug with a bit more head and side impact protection. Plus my car doesn't have headrests in the backseat and I like the Regent in Lin's car. He is in the 3rd slot up so has a couple more inches until the top, but also isn't at the top of the 3rd. For the price I am loving it, it was the perfect fix to my situation, not wanting another regent since I am not that fond of it AND I needed one for the airplane for May! Yes, I still put him in a carseat on the airplane, but we are also renting a car and will need it once in LA. I do not want it checked through.

I made a darn video but expo doesn't have it in their database yet and I want the $10 for it! Maybe I could post on you tube somehow (how do you do that?). I also really like the color. My car is grey with black interior and black top (convertible) so it really looks nice! No pink for us!

I know, I can ramble! It was a pain to put together! Not really that hard but would have been nice to have someone help me and pull the cover to the side to snap in the back, really there were only 4 steps, just annoying by yourself.

Oh, and Dallas approves and likes it, but then again he has never said he doesn't like any of them.

Anyone know if the Disney store has this tee, or is it only online?

th_S5601G0048M.jpg

Sorry, I haven't been in probably a month to the disney store! Keep meaning to get there.

Ok I think that I have the lice issue under control. Ugh! I hope all is taken care of! I had it a couple times as a child!

I love the black and white one best too! But they are all great!

How did I get so far behind?

Ok like I posted yesterday. This is my first attempt so be gentle ... but honest. I am not really happy with the way it is turning out. I am VERY thankful I took the advice of everyone and matched threads though. At least now it is wearable. I need to learn how to go SLOW I think. And I am fine with lines but those curves are eating me up lol. Eyes are beyond a pain. ;) I am amazed at how you ladies do the princess faces so beautifully! My noses just look scary! But I am learning and I have faith it will get better.

The little squash I had done last night ... I did more tonight but have not had a chance to take pictures and upload.

th_sewing006.jpg

Now my question is this looking more boy like to you guys or is it just me? I am seriously pondering putting it up and waiting till I get a little boy (very big possibility). My little one I am making this for I just got word they are starting to look at Grandma as a possible placement for her and I think she will be gone before she really grows into it ... it is a size to big.

My second question for those of you that applique. We are going in Dec again ... I have NO idea who or how many will be with us when we go. We have gotten 2 rooms just to make sure we can accomadate any kiddos we might have and be able to talk a judge into letting us take with us. Obviously I want those kiddos to match the rest of us. Can I do applique work on just the fabric part of the applique and then attatch it to an outfit later if need be? Or would it pucker on the shirt ... pants ... or whatever?

Not sure if you saw my opinions on the old thread BUT I LOVE it! I think you are doing a great job! And I think that is fine for a girl or a boy, adding ruffles will make it more girly but definately not necessary.

That Mickey head is really cute- Have we seen that or is it a CASE??
I have to come up with playhouse disney live outfits for 2 boys- ages 4 and 2- I know some others have gone to it- will you post or repost your outfits- My sister and I are taking the boys in a couple weeks :) TIA
TNMom25- I love the Dumbp you don't see that very often- Great Job!! The y are all really great!!

MO it is an original. no case here. I have not done a PHD outfit for boys yet.

I LOVE this picture!! This is how I remember WDW- old rickety strollers and all!

Hi everyone! I'm definately not new here. You old timers should recognize me;) Just thought I'd pop in and subscribe to the new thread. Every now and then, I come see what you all have been up to. I just can't keep up with the speed of this thread. It's almost a full-time job!:rotfl:
Of course I remember you! I still have a certain outfit I need to make...

Thanks! So does that mean Sophie gets to keep the coat and you're going to make another one for the snauser? My son said that the coat had to be store-bought because of the ric rac. He was very impressed!
Jacob is too cute!

I think it's looking great! I agree with others that it looks unisex. I wouldn't do anything to the overalls to girl-ify them. I would leave them as-is and just put a girly top underneath for a girl. That way you can use it on whatever little ones you have in the future.

I love all the new outfits! The black/white one is my favorite, too. How cute is that Mrs. Potts?!

If I've never welcomed you, :welcome:!!! We'd love to see pictures!!!! If you have no one to sew for, I know several children who would take what you make- girl's size 6 or boy's size 2! ;)

I want to see your video! Let me know when it's on expotv. Youtube is pretty easy. You just have to sign up and then upload the video, a lot like on expotv.

Posting all those pictures was like an adventure! Hopefully the next outfits will be posted in ones and twosies.
Thanks for all your kind words. I love this thread!!! It keeps me creative!
I wanted to say I love all your outfits they are fabulous!

kramer1980.jpg

Here is me in May 1980 hugging the Mouse! I have the blue shorts and the Tube top. I was 7 years old almost 8. My brother is sticking his hand in Mickey's Mouth. My sister is wearing the light blue shorts and the striped top.
The little guy with the white blond hair in the lower left corner is my other brother he was only 2 1/2.
We all stayed in a tent in Fort Wilderness. It was so HOT. This was my second trip to WDW.
Love looking at the fashion on everyone! That lady in the red in the back is so classic! Love them all! mickey does seem kinda short

Hmm...I'm wondering why it bends your needle. I've never had a problem with that. I just put the two right sides together and stitch through the two layers, along where the seam used to be, and then zig zag the raw edge. Have you tried maybe a stronger needle, like for upholstery or for denim. I have a denim needle on my machine now, but I use it for everything...LOL

if you have a lot of thick layers I always use a denim needle!!!!! it saves the hassle of breaking needles

I think it looks super great! That is a great first try!

Anyone know if the Disney store has this tee, or is it only online?

S5601G0048M.jpg

I don't know I have been on a spending diet and have not gone to the mall since before xmas

What kind of pattern did you use for the top? Is it from YCMT?

The pattern is from a butterick dress, for the bodice, then the strips, I just measured how long I wanted them, in this case 16 inches, and how wide I want them. I hardly ever follow patterns anyway...LOL.

Tnmom25 - what did you use for the grey in your Dumbo. I have been wanting to do a Dumbo, but I haven't found any grey calico yet. I think I get a too specific idea in my head and then I get frustrated when I can't find my made-up item I am looking for.

That is so aweful to hear. I hate to hear that kids go through these things. DD is very lucky as am I that we caught it so soon.

Thank you. It really was sad. She knew what it was and everything. I had not a clue. She was 5 and I was 25 and a first time parent that had 4 little ones placed with us at one time. They all had lice, but Leanne's hair was so long, thick and curly I could not get rid of it. I was also not allowed to have it cut and thinned out at all since the bio family was still calling the shots. :confused3 They can not parent well enough to have them in the home, but they can make decisions like hair cuts, bike riding, swimming, swing sets and vacations. None of which they wanted the kids to do at our house. They said if they take all of the parental control away they would just give up and not visit or work the case plan. Well...our 5-year gottcha day is February 26 so we see how well that worked out. That’s OK, they belonged here with us and are truly different kids. One of these days I am going to post our adoption stories:)

I am glad that you were able to catch it fast and get it taken care of.

Ugh!
Thanks for the luck.... We need it! It is sad the girls were fighting. I actually think it was more a group of moms were saying things to their girls and the girls were taking it to the gym. I totally agree that the parents were worse than the kids. There was a mom last night that said to her DD "you didn’t take to J (the coach) did you? Remember I said respect him, but you are not to speak to him!" :confused3 I was shocked. The parent’s problem is they think the coach is too hard on the girls. But several of them are so disrespectful that he has to be hard on them. They have this attitude like my parents pay you a lot of money so I can do what I want. I have heard them say it to the girls. I have honestly told Leanne things like I pay to much money for you to be messing around, you need to stay focused etc. But never anything like they are saying. I can not believe it. This is probably Leanne's last year. It is a lot of money... close to $6,000/year (don't tell DH.. he doesn’t ask so I don’t tell) and she is not having any fun anymore.

We have the same problem with winning and losing. The parents don’t want extra practices but when we lose they don't understand why. One mom yanked her kids off the team because we got second two weeks in a row and another mom said she was mad and thought we were judged unfairly last week??? Some parents are really sending the wrong message to their kids.

OK, I am stepping down from my soapbox now.

Wow, you ladies are as chatty as ever!

Carrie - Thank you for finally learning to post pictures and sharing your outfits. DD immediately recognized the WL boat dock and especially loved Bonnie's Halloween peasant top.

So cute!! I love the colors of that fabric!

You have a beautiful family! You did a wonderful job on all the outfits and it looks like everyone had fun. Thanks for sharing!!

DeAnn - I love all your outfits and nighties. That Dumbo is just fabulous!!

Cindee - We will miss you! Hope you feel ready to come back soon!

Well...our 5-year gottcha day is February 26 so we see how well that worked out. That’s OK, they belonged here with us and are truly different kids. One of these days I am going to post our adoption stories:)

I am glad that you were able to catch it fast and get it taken care of.

I'm glad to hear that these kids got to go to a good home.

Good Morning to all!! Just got caught up on the threads! Love the ribbon shirts..I'm trying to finish 2 sundresses for the girls and then I'm off to Walmart for some white shirts and hopefully some Disney fabric. Once I get a few things done I'll post some pictures.

Wish me luck on finding some Belle & Ariel fabric!!

This I'm sorry to say will be my last post for the evening. My Aunt called me to tell me that her granddaughter, Jenna's cousin who stayed over last weekend, has head lice. I checked DD's hair when she came home from school and found nits. :scared1: Straight to the store for some shampoo and it's gonna be a long night making sure there are no eggs or bugs left over. :scared1: is all I can say. This is my first time to deal with this as the mom. There isn't going to be any hot water left when I get done washing all the bedding.

Oh, I feel for you. Megan brought lice home from school when she was in K and I was so freaked out. In case you haven't sprayed her room yet and would prefer not to use the pesticide, we were told just to put all the soft items that couldn't be washed in a plastic garbage bag for 48-72 hours. Also vacuum well and continue to change her pillowcase every day for 2 weeks. We also used olive oil on her hair and covered it with plastic wrap for about 4-5 hours. It was very easy to comb out the nits after that and the olive oil washed out easily with regular shampoo. Sounds like you were pretty on top of it, so hopefully they are gone for good!!

Those are so cute and I think they could easily be for either a boy or a girl. The applique looks really good. Don't be too hard on yourself!!

I have a few tops to finish for myself and 2 more to do for DS then I will be all done for our trip!! And finish up a top and pair of jeans for DD (need to attatch the straps and bling her Tink jeans) We leave in 16 days!! Whoohoo!!

I really like the tops you posted for yourself. You must be getting SO excited!!
Krispy - I guess I lost your pics. Love the tops and those pirates shorts are great!
