awwww - COME ON! You give up the incriminating photos, and I'll post my circa 1994 Glamour Shots! :rotfl2:

:lmao: Glamour shots ROCK!!! I might be tempted to post pageant shots for that!!!

I had to laugh at all of the pageant talk. Ireland did pageants for a few years. In the beginning, pretty feet, always made her fall down..LOL
Here are some photos, she was sooo young...LOL...
No flames please from the pageant haters...LOL

Okay..I showed you mine...now where's yours????:confused3 :lmao:

AWWWW!!! Ireland does Pretty Feet very well!!! She's such a gorgeous girl. I'm not surprised she did well. Did y'all do Glamour Dolls and that circuit? I'm sure she went all the way! Love the yellow beaded outfit!! I had an aqua one like that!:rotfl2:

Did Ireland Pro-am? (aka: pageant dancing!)

Little Miss Leighanna was a pageant baby, but that is all. Of course the little stinker won on the local level, but we didn't persue it any further.

Oh my goodness!!! She is SO cute!! Leighanna has the pageant LOOK. She just twinkles!!! Gosh Tom...she's still little...y'all should get back in there!

I was thinking about getting Jenna into pageants, but honestly I don't even know where to start. If she needs to sing or dance she will be in trouble because she can't do either. If anyone has any info that would be appreciated.

You could probably start by finding a local/close-ish to you pageant. It can be a lot of money upfront at first. (depends on the pageant) The trick is, once you start winning you reinvest the cash.

and I gotta tell ya...a lot of the girls that had "singing" for their talent...could NOT sing. At all. We are talking off key, tone deaf. But they were cute as all get out, dressed to the nines and they gave it their all. Which is really what it's about. Some of the girls are very talented...but it's mostly an over all kind of thing. Crowns are given for individual stuff as well as over all. Pageants are crown-a-paloozas!!! So you daughter doesn't have to be wildly talented at singing and/or dancing to do well.

LOVE IT!!! Pooh bear is a favorite of mine!!!:goodvibes

What happened to your pictures?
According to my mom. They were packed up in a box with my trophies and pageant dresses and the landlord took them. Apparently she was being evicted for not paying the rent and the landlord came in to seize property to cover the rent that was owed. I think that my grandma may have one, but she doesn't have many pictures of me as a child, because they burnt up in a house fire that they had when I was eight. Tragic I know. There are very few pictures of me.

That is just too cute. If you say that you made that without a pattern too than I am going to scream (JK).

Wow thanks for the good tips on surviving a tornado.....I think I would die of fright before it got me! I am so ascared of those things. As it turns out, no tornado at all...just some rain and thunder and lightening!

I just love the Big Give outfits so far!:lovestruc They are fabulous and for a great cause too!

And finally, before I go to bed, I wanted to post our Baby Parade pictures from last summer:

Your girls look so pretty and is that a trophy I see? They deserved as cute as they are.

I am glad you guys liked the outfit, as usual I was so worried,

Crystal: :::yes:: I made this pattern myself and I like the way it came out, as always I keep things simple and BTW my first applique!!!! ( which I found that is difficult to do as I have trouble turning corners and curves, any tips?)

thanks

So very cute!!! I love how the pants tie up a little at the sides! Darling!

:rotfl2: The girl refuses to wear her beautiful pettiskirt! Plus, did you see the pictures of her when she was in the wedding? :rotfl:

Teresa is crazy! Her feet are fine! So, what does a pedicure involve? What do they do?

These are the kind of nuggets that make me treasure this thread! :rotfl2:

There's this great new invention called a scanner!!;)

I am SO going to try this now. I need some more Tide, so this is a good time to try it and save $15! Now, do you have a good recipe for liquid fabric softener?

Yes! Please post everything you've made, if you don't mind sharing them, and possibly being copied!

Just get a pedi! They are really pretty nice, although I have a hard time sitting still for very long. You get to sit in a nice comfy chair that has a back massager while your feet soak in a whirpool mini bath (make sure they clean it in front of you). Then they massage your feet and legs with lotion, work on your calluses (if you don't want them to do something just tell them), cut/file your nails, push back your cuticles, and finally paint your nails. Your feet really do look better once they are done with them. Overall it is pretty relaxing and you really should do it for yourself! Go ahead, you, Heather, your Mom and Barbara should all do it together once she gets back on her feet. You'll really love it!

What is going on with Joann's and their licensed fabric lately? The last two or three times I've been in there they have barely had any licensed fabric. Mostly they have had fleece and a few silky fabrics but I'm not sure that they had ANY cottons that were licensed and if they did there wasn't any Disney.
I know exactly what you mean....ours has fleece and flannel but when it comes to cotton the choices are slim to none! :confused3

You know I wonder about this too. My Joann's has a TON of Licensed fabric. Disney, Muppets, Care Bears all kinds of stuff. But it is ALL FLANNEL-ummm in FLORIDA!!!!!!! What are we supposed to do with flannel?:lmao:
Exactly...good point!!!

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse fabric book skirt
Okay I love this one....I think it came out so cute!

I heard back from Laurie, and her MIL has the pattern!!! She is sending it to me to use (and not charging me for it!) I am so excited that I can make the dress that Isabelle and Alicia really want!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: And, what wonderful people we have on this board!!!
That is awesome....!!! How sweet of them both to let you use that pattern for your BIG GIVE outfit. I can't wait to see it!!!:goodvibes

I think those turned out great!!!

Tessa wanted to model her new pajamas so I could post her picture for Luke to see. :rotfl2: I used the portrait peasant top and added tiers. Then, I used the easy fit pants for the shorts.
She always has to do "the Megan"!
5-31-08fixinghairwHMjammies.jpg
Okay that is just too cute....wanting her picture taken so Luke could see it!!! ;)

Laurie wasn't even on this thread, just a random Diser that posted a picture of the dress! How nice is that!?!
VERY NICE.

Word to the wise-Pay attention when you are skimming these posts :rotfl:

4) I cannot believe you didn't keep the picture of the ferret baby bonnet! That was the funniest thing I have ever seen!

5) She had another come out yesterday at breakfast. She told she was having a hard time eating her cereal and when I looked into her mouth there was a little bottom tooth lying sideways on her gum. Our toothfairy is a bit unreliable and forgot last night so she is quite mad and I think has figured out that I swapped it out after she got up. I don't understand, it used to work with Jacob all the time!

I bolded what I got out of this LOL :badpc:
:rotfl2: :lmao:

I am sitting here tearing up myself. I am just SOOOO glad it came out right. It is the first thing I have made for someone other than my DD.
As I said before on the TR, you did an AWESOME job and it is obvious that Isabelle LOVES it!!! I think it is so pretty! Thank you so much for doing this for them!!!!!!:cloud9:

:rotfl2: The girl refuses to wear her beautiful pettiskirt! Plus, did you see the pictures of her when she was in the wedding? :rotfl:
:scared1: What??? Tessa won't wear her pettiskirt????

I was too afraid to do an outfit. I'm doing a crayon roll but for colored pencils. I printed out 100+ coloring book pages on 4x6 index cards-I bought a coupon sorter for the index cards. I brought some with me on my trip with my DD(5) earlier this month and they were a life saver at table service meals. She was most often done way before me and that 1 page activity sheet and single crayon they give the kids didn't hold her attention long enough.

Oh Bernadette...that is awesome!!! I love the idea of the coloring pages in the coupon sorta thing. How cool is that!!!!

Hey you guys!!!! I'm almost finished with my BIG GIVE outfit and I'm lovin it, if I do say so myself!! I decided to do some applique and I need to stitch up the lining real quick and the outfit will be done. Thinking of making a few accessories, too, though. Maybe a headband? Or do you guys think bows would be better?

Oh Lori...I can NOT wait to see your finished outfit. I just know it is going to be beautiful based on what I know!! I hope you post pics soon!!!! I think a headband would be cool! Or bows would be cool too....! Hahaha...I am no help!!!

Here's my little project for the BIG GIVE. I used Crayola twistable colored pencils because the details are too small on the 4x6 coloring pages for regular crayons and these are nice because you don't have to worry about having a pencil sharpener.

You hope we "like" it....I LOVE IT!!! I can't believe you make these patterns up yourself!!! That fact just blows my mind. This turned out simply darling. I love the colors and how you did the pants at the bottom. So cute!!! I can't wait to see Isabelle model this as well. Thank you so much for making these outfits and for the little extras you showed me as well!!!!:cloud9:

I am glad you guys liked the outfit, as usual I was so worried,
I can't believe you were worried!!! :worship: Again, I am just amazed that you make up your own patterns!

OMG OMG I LOVE THIS IDEA...YOU ROCK GIRL!!!! :worship:

Thanks!

I'm wondering if I should make them for her friend's kids that are going with her. I assume they will be doing at least some meals together. I would have to do something a bit different for the 2 year old though-those little cards are too hard for a 2 year old to do. Do you know if they are a girl (6) and boy (2)?

Was anyone doing a journal for Isabelle?

Oh I could coach that girl into pageant readiness in NO TIME!! I was the QUEEN of "pretty feet"!!!

scanner...ummm...yeah, can't hear you...40-ish % deaf in my left ear...

*ahem*

love ya! mean it!!

:goodvibes

are your eyes deaf too? :snooty: and I don't really believe you about that scanner. Maybe we need to send a letter to Miss Cammie's mom?

My mom got another Mickey head top done:

And I am going to try and make a peasant top out of the pillow case. I ma having a hard time deciding where to make the center: her head or the dress. What do you think?

I would center it on the tip of her chin, but I'm mental that way :bitelip:

Whew, kinda caught up. Love everything! I had a busy day today. I spent $150 at the bead store :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: and that was before I saw the adorable overpriced Disney charms! I have been making some big give bracelets. I want to get my package shipped off Mon or Tues so I'm trying to get stuff done!

Okay, I'm awake and I didn't have to stay up all night packing, I actually got some sleep, go figure.

Delaney's party was fun, the kids had a great time and I didn't come home with any food other than a few pieces of cake.

I'm going to get going because we need to be out of here in 40 minutes to get to the airport. I'll have internet access in the hotel so I'll check in.

If anyone is down or coming to Disney and wants to meet up, PM me I'll check whenever I'm on.

Linnette ~ I cannot believe you made the outfit without a pattern! :worship:

Ugh! 4 days to go and I wake up with a freaking sinus headache! :headache: I am stocking up on Musinex today and being bad taking some left over antibiotics from DH to kick this. If I am not better by Tuesday I will make myself go to the dr.

I worked on the Cinderella Peasant top last night and got a lot of it done. I went ahead and centered it by the dress so I hope it looks ok. I should have a photo later!

Jeanne (jham)Where did you find Disney beads? (even if overpriced) I'd love to find some for customs.

I made a crayon rollup as practice for my DD-I tried 3/4" 'pockets' but they were a bit tight. I must have sewn my pockets off size because I should have had enough for all 24 crayons but I only had enough for 22.

Okay..I showed you mine...now where's yours????:confused3 :lmao:
Ireland looks gorgeous. Her hair is beautiful. Did you do that with the sock rollers? It turns out so pretty.

I lost the pictures of LeighAnn. Tom she is a beautiful baby!
I'm all caught up again - I think I really need to start paying a daily visit (or 3 or 4 visits) to the dis :) I guess when I'm on everyone else is asleep or doing other stuff lol so I don't get a chance to get chatty :( I love chatty hehe- darn time difference - BTW it's 1pmish here on Sunday just incase anyone was interested

Everything is gorgeous. I LOVE the handbags - I'm a big bag nutter - actually almost tempted to cut one out right now (it's also a long weekend so I have my DH home to help kid wrangle hehe). And I think I need some crayon rolls for the plane ride (12 hours I think I'm going to need to start thinking of things to entertain the girls for that long )

What you ladies are doing for the BIG GIVE is amazing - I've read the pretrippy and her story and I bawled my eyes out. I want to keep reading but the sadness just pours out of me. That pour family - I'd never wish anything like that on my worse enemy. {{{{{{{BIGHUGS}}}}}} if you are reading this.

I've found out why you are all in love with YCMT - I bought the Raglan top pattern last week and last night I made up two hooded tops for the girls. And they were soooooooooo easy. I even done a quick applique on Izzy's one - nothing fancy just somehearts). The girls love them. I'll get pics as soon as I steal my sisters camera back (it should really just live at my house as Izzy broke our wee camera and my sisters is a nice SLR one ). I'm going to cut out another couple now so I can sew them up when the go to bed tonight.

I've also got the euro pattern, the scallopini and the stripwork jumper - so now I'm all eager to give them go. I have made the debut purse which was free and that was also super easy and it all looks so professional - even with my limited sewing skills.

Anyway enough jibber jabber from me.

Happy sewing everyone :)
Wow there is a really big time difference. I am in Georgia and it is only Sunday morning right now. I bet you are in bed asleep. When you posted this, I was putting my kids to bed on Saturday Night.

Hi Everyone,

Love the Snow White Summer Dress!! So cute!!

What size cutting matt does everyone have, do you use your rolling cutter to cut out everything? Im working on the Aline jumper, and Elizabeths size 7 is longer than my cutting matt!!

Wendy
My cutting mat is a small one only 12X18 inches. I use scissors to cut out clothing patterns.

I use my cutting mat when I cut out purses or bags. I have a hard time cutting the curves of patterns. But I use that ruler to help me cut out squares and rectangles. (no curves)

Wow! Genius! That is a great big give project!! I was thinking (this may have been already said, but I haven't read till the end yet) Is anyone making her a autograph book?

Jeanne (jham)Where did you find Disney beads? (even if overpriced) I'd love to find some for customs.

They were charms, not beads. I believe most of them had a lobster claw attached so you could clip them on or you could attach them in other ways. They had a TON, at least 2 different ones of each princess I think? They had the coolest 3-dimensional glass slipper that was light blue and glittery. They had a mickey head, a minnie head, a little Minnie in her blue dot skirt w/the daisy hat  Pooh bear and OH--I loved this one--the Evil Queen! They were up at the register as I was checking out so I really didn't have time to inventory them :rotfl: They also had a ton of Hello Kitty. Most of them were around the size of a penny. Sadly, they were $5 each  Let me know if you are interested. I'm sure they wouldn't mind me taking a photo to show you, although that store is a dangerous place for me to go! :lmao:

Those are so cute! I am thinking about making some of those for Lydia to take to kindergarten when she starts in the fall. I'm thinking that maybe I should get started soon, so I'm not sewing them up the night before she starts! That way, I can save the night before she starts to finish up her Very-First-Day-of-School-Ever-I'm-Happy-To-Be-Here-But-My-Mommy-Is-A-Mess dress!

Awwwww! It's not so bad.

Once the crayon's are used they will be short enough ;) Just a thought. . .

Yeah, that would be the smart way to look at it, but I bought smaller crayons and made a bigger one for Megan.

:sad2: Uhhhh ohhhhh..... I just bought five (5) Carla C designs on ycmt. :cool1: I already had the Simply Sweet. :cutie: Now I basically can make anything for the girls. princess: :flower3: Sure wish buying fabric were as easy.

Ok, you are all set! Hope you all stayed safe.

:offtopic:

I have had only 1 1/2 pedicures. How do you end up with 1/2 a pedicure?
Well I went with my sister, who had never had a pedicure before. I had to bring my 2 kids. So I went first and my sister looked after the kids.

You sit in a comfy chair and they wash your feet and chair has a mini whirlpool at the bottom and it feels great. Then they trim your nails and cuticles. I got finished and went to look at the polish to pick one out. My sister got started in the chair. Well, I hear her call my name and I walk across the room and she passes out cold!:faint:

The ladies at the salon were panicking in their language. I was telling them to call 911. An ambulance came and my sister came back to. But we decided we were done with pedicures. THere wasn't anything wrong with my sister either she just didn't like the lady cutting her cuticles with those clippers they use. I have never tried to get another pedicure either.

Goodness! Before kids, I used to get those acrylic nails and almost passed out once from the chemicals. That was the end of that!

I like the "O" handles. It's "O" for "Owls."

Brilliant! Thank you.

Ok, so I have this really pretty vintage pattern that my grandmother used for my mom when she was little & I have this really cute retro print fabric that I thought was just perfect for it. :cool1:

1. Vintage patterns don't really spell things out even as well as modern store-bought patterns. :confused3

2. It DOESN'T say anywhere how many of each piece to cut. Found out as I was sewing that I needed 2 of the collar (which I had already decided I needed) & that the bodice was supposed to be lined (oh well, it isn't & it won't be now) AND that there should be 2 of the back pieces.

GRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :furious: I'm out of fabric. I mean COMPLETELY out of the fabric. Called the closest Hancock's that I haven't been to recently 'cause the other one doesn't have & neither did this one. Called Mom & had her check her Hancock - nope. I figured. I got the fabric last summer.

I went to Wal-Mart to find something that would coordinate well enough to finish the dress 'cause I'm sorta attached to it now (sentimentalist that I am). Then I called dh to let him know what I had decided to do (he's so good about at least pretending to listen when I talk about sewing :lovestruc ), & realized that the pieces I had already cut were probably at least double the waist measurement of the dress & it could probably finish it that way & it just wouldn't be as full. Got home & measured - yep. I'm good. Now if only I had figured that out last night when I reall really wanted to be working on it.

Ok, I'm going to go finish it now. I hope. If nothing else goes wrong. It's pretty easy to put together though. Well, if yu can follow the way they have it written. Vintage patterns are NOT for the pattern-reading challenged.

 I know how frustrating that is, I hope you were able to make it work. Can't wait to see it when it's finished.

I absolutly LOVE these! I love the knot purse. I wish I had been in my sewing groove when they had that pattern for free on ycmt.

Thanks!

Cute roll ups! And your daughter looks beautiful in her dress. Looks like a great time.

Cute shirt! I love the back. I would center the peasant top right on her chin too.

If anyone is down or coming to Disney and wants to meet up, PM me I'll check whenever I'm on.

Have a great time!

Heather: Tessa's pjs are so cute and she does look like a model in those pictures. I think it's her eyes, they are just so striking.

Teresa: Our Wal Mart did not have the snore stop pillow. Do you know what brand it is? I desperately need one!

Confession: When Jacob was a baby people constantly told us he should be a model so we entered him in one of those baby pageants. He did not win (one of the regulars did, we didn't know anything about anything) but he did get a big trophy. We tease him about it from time to time.
