Sawyer is going to be 2 years old in 2 weeks. *sigh*

I want to do a Toy Story themed birthday party for him. Has anyone ever made a Toy Story themed birthday cake? Or, do you have a picture of one? I'm looking for inspiration!

For the cake make an etch a sketch, in the place where you would normally draw is where you would write happy 2nd birthday Sawyer or whatever your message is, remember though to make it look like it was done with an etch a sketch and so keep the letters connected. For the knows use oreos, opened up so there is white just like on an etch a sketch. This is one of the simpler cakes since an etch a sketch is rectangle. It turns out really cute though.

So I haven't posted lately because I did finish the 44 page scrapbook for DDs teacher---she loved it and 13 crayon rolls. I was up until 4 am finishing them. I am crazy! So after the graduation and celebratory lunch at our local pizza buffet. I took a long nap and went to bed super early! Poor kids had to go to bed early too. I am still not caught up on sleep and I have 2 scrapbooks to make for my BF baby shower next sunday for her twin boys and all teh beach outfits for our trip in 2 weeks. I need to do something tonight before bed so I am not last minute again! Well here are the crayon rolls and pics from the graduation for your viewing pleasure:) I already posted the dress she is wearing ut didn't have time to make her something new.

You did a great job on those!!!

My mom got another Mickey head top done:

And I am going to try and make a peasant top out of the pillow case. I ma having a hard time deciding where to make the center: her head or the dress. What do you think?

Love the front/back Mickey head shirt! I agree that I would center on the dress.

Cool idea! A friend of mine did a Toy Story theme and I don't remember what she did for a cake but should couldn't find any Toy Story plates so she got clear plates and glued a Toy Story picture to the bottom of the plate-they looked super cool!!!!!

your poor sister! I do NOT blame her! Those things freak me out! I got cut one time and I forbid cuticle cutting ever since!

When I lived in Manhattan I got a mani/pedi every week. We HAD to. My boss required it of us. Not kidding. so I got REALLY good about saying NO to cuticle clipping and the scary razor thing they would use on people's callouses! The lady I saw every week got to know what I would and would not allow and she'd always hold up the forbidden instruments and say "nah-nah-nah! yes?"

:rotfl2:

Then I'd give her a thumb's up and she'd thumb's up back and we'd be all set!

I became a pedicure junkie. Manicures don't last on me any more. I'm too much hands on with kids...sometimes wrestling on the floor with the really feisty ones! So I don't waste the money...but Sally and I get pedi's at least twice a month. It's our "girlie time" as Sally calls it!

Heather and Teresa, you MUST give this a try!!! It's good for the soul!!:goodvibes

funny how my bad ear switches from ear to ear...

tricky thing selective hearing...

*ahem*

and I don't even know WHERE on earth those old things would even BE...and I don't HAVE a scanner.

bummer.

:confused3

:moped:

awwww - COME ON! You give up the incriminating photos, and I'll post my circa 1994 Glamour Shots! :rotfl2:

That's a cute idea! And it would be fairly easy.

Another cute idea!

Heather, if you wanted another cake idea, I think it would be really cute if you carved out a Mr. Potato Head from a cake. You could even use the real MPH parts - just wash em up really well and stick them right into the cake.

I made a crayon rollup as practice for my DD-I tried 3/4" 'pockets' but they were a bit tight. I must have sewn my pockets off size because I should have had enough for all 24 crayons but I only had enough for 22.

Here's my little project for the BIG GIVE. I used Crayola twistable colored pencils because the details are too small on the 4x6 coloring pages for regular crayons and these are nice because you don't have to worry about having a pencil sharpener.

*ahem*

love ya! mean it!!

:goodvibes

I had to laugh at all of the pageant talk. Ireland did pageants for a few years. In the beginning, pretty feet, always made her fall down..LOL
Here are some photos, she was sooo young...LOL...

I LOVE your project - how cool!!!

I was wondering how everyone spaces the crayon things perfectly - that is the hardest part for me!!

I made a few for the kids for Christmas - none of them can tie yet, so I used one of those soft terryish ponytail holders and sewed it in so they could just loop it around the crayons and do it themselves. They loved them!! Now I need to do some for colored pencils!!!

Awwwwww, Castle, I think she looks like a sweet girl. All her own hair, her own teeth...not those flipper things, yuk...and her face doesn't look like it's made of plastic.

Looks like our girl Ireland, just dolled up.

I would have loved putting Bonnie in pageants, but she doesn't have the self-esteem. She can't stand for me to say she looks fine. It's fabulous or nothing! :confused3

Wow! That is such a neat idea! I'm sure Isabelle will have so much fun with all those coloring pages and the crayon roll-up. That should keep her busy for a while, LOL! I'm going to have to keep that in mind for our next trip!

Little Miss Leighanna was a pageant baby, but that is all. Of course the little stinker won on the local level, but we didn't persue it any further.

OMG...TOM!! She's sooo cute... I love the little white and red dress. She's such a little cutie!

I love all your fabric choices...they are so pretty!!!

Hey you guys!!!! I'm almost finished with my BIG GIVE outfit and I'm lovin it, if I do say so myself!! I decided to do some applique and I need to stitch up the lining real quick and the outfit will be done. Thinking of making a few accessories, too, though. Maybe a headband? Or do you guys think bows would be better?

I can't wait to see your BIG GIVE outfit..I am thinking mine is going to be the last one, since I won't be able to start working on it until after our trip.

From this site:http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf105050.tip.html

Fabric Softner Recipe:

Like I said, I never use fabric softner, so I don't know how well this works.

Here's another one:
2 cups vinegar
2 cups baking soda
4 cups hot water

Be careful when adding the baking soda, do so very slowly as it will foam up. Cap and shake gently from side to side, opening the cap to allow air to escape (you may need to do this several times). Add about 20 drops of essential oil. I love lavender but you can use cedarwood, rose, eucalyptus, whatever you love.

Shake side to side before each use as the baking soda will settle. Pour just past the line in a downyball (I find this method works better than the machines fabric softener dispenser). Toss the ball in and that's it.

Oh I need to try this...sounds like something that might work for my sensitive skin kiddos.

What a great idea! She is going to love it!

I love all of the pageant photos. Your cuties were so adorable all dolled up. I wish that my pageant pictures were still around. I was a cutie too. I remember a red dress, a blue and white and a peach dress. I also remember how bad those slips itched. I was in pageants from the age of 2 until I turned 5. I won only one of the pageants I was in, but I did place in the others that I was in.

I was thinking about getting Jenna into pageants, but honestly I don't even know where to start. If she needs to sing or dance she will be in trouble because she can't do either. If anyone has any info that would be appreciated.

What a gorgeous baby! That's not a surprise either!

What a great idea! I just ordered some materials today that match the two I used on the curtains in my classroom. I want to make crayon rolls for my class. The boxes fall apart so easily and it is easy for a kiddo to lose a crayon or mix it up with someone next to them. This way they can see what they have and can be taught to use one/put it away. I will have to make them for the box of 8 large size crayons. They will be all the same.

Here is the material I used on the curtains.

I'm all caught up again - I think I really need to start paying a daily visit (or 3 or 4 visits) to the dis :) I guess when I'm on everyone else is asleep or doing other stuff lol so I don't get a chance to get chatty :( I love chatty hehe- darn time difference - BTW it's 1pmish here on Sunday just incase anyone was interested :rolleyes1

Everything is gorgeous. I LOVE the handbags - I'm a big bag nutter - actually almost tempted to cut one out right now (it's also a long weekend so I have my DH home to help kid wrangle hehe). And I think I need some crayon rolls for the plane ride (12 hours :faint: I think I'm going to need to start thinking of things to entertain the girls for that long  )

What you ladies are doing for the BIG GIVE is amazing - I've read the pretrippy and her story and I bawled my eyes out. I want to keep reading but the sadness just pours out of me. That pour family - I'd never wish anything like that on my worse enemy. {{{{{{{BIGHUGS}}}}}} if you are reading this.

I've found out why you are all in love with YCMT - I bought the Raglan top pattern last week and last night I made up two hooded tops for the girls. And they were soooooooooo easy. I even done a quick applique on Izzy's one - nothing fancy just somehearts). The girls love them. I'll get pics as soon as I steal my sisters camera back (it should really just live at my house as Izzy broke our wee camera :furious: and my sisters is a nice SLR one ). I'm going to cut out another couple now so I can sew them up when the go to bed tonight.

I've also got the euro pattern, the scallopini and the stripwork jumper - so now I'm all eager to give them go. I have made the debut purse which was free and that was also super easy and it all looks so professional - even with my limited sewing skills.

Anyway enough jibber jabber from me.

Happy sewing everyone :)

ooh and almost forgot

Teresa - Good on Corey for wanting to reduce his carbon footprint :thumbsup2
