ok I finished my BIG GIVE outfit. I am a little worried about it though. I think it is too small. When Jenna gets up I will try it on her and see if it fits. I hope it does, because I had some problems making this dress.

Just wanted to share with you all that due to the inspiration of this thread, I have moved past appliqued shirts and have sewed DD her first Disney vacation dress. Obviously pretty simple but hey...it's a start.

*delurks* Hi guys I found this thread recently and love looking at all your creations but, although I sew myself, i've been a little hesitant to share any pictures: I don't have kids yet so I just sew for myself, family and friends and i've only ever made baby blankets as far as kid stuff goes but if no-one minds me being a bit off-topic (I know this thread is mainly for kids clothes) i'd be happy to join in I especially like all the appliques posted on here, something i'd like to start doing I have at least three baby gifts to make this year and have some cute ideas for them

When I started on this thread last year I posted a picture of a diaper bag just cause it was the only thing I'd sewn that I had a picture of...but seeing everyone elses creations I was dying to show my handy work too!! Ok, haven't really had a chance to catch up. I am working on my very first T-Beri Togs outfit, a shaby chic stripwork dress. I'm contemplating doing a cloche hat to go w/ it. I had to go out and make some business purchases...a new cutting mat some rotary blade, notions, A DIGITAL CAMERA (my first and a nice one at that!!) I think B is going to buy me a laptop too I am still worrying about the impact that starting a business is going to have on my WDW fund!!! But I guess I just have to go out on a limb for a change. Gotta get back to the sewing room...

OH and the robert kaufman ducky fabric came saturday (my first business delivery ) and it is SOOOO NICE!!! The color is gorgeous and the fabric feels wonderful. I can't wait to turn it into a simply sweet top (or 5 since I ordered a ton of it )

Thanks for the warm welcome Here are a few things I have pictures of.. I've been doing a lot more sewing lately (just finished my degree so I have some free time while i'm jobhunting as i'm only working part-time right now) and i'm going to take pictures of my more recent creations soon

Dress made from my favourite fabric ever (I stocked up on it in case it's ever discontinued!!) I can't remember the pattern but I think I butchered it a bit since I didn't have a puff sleeve block at the time.

I used to be really into 'reconstructing' T-shirts to sell on but I prefer to make things from scratch so I haven't done any in a while.

Had to get some Disney in there! Skirt and matching bow from my EGL (gothic lolita) days

Open front jumper dress, EGL influence again! This was my first try at shirring which I haven't attempted again since *lol* I've recently got over my zipper fear though so I guess I should give shirring another go

My version of the pillowcase top:

The dark spot on the sleeve has to be a shadow since there is nothing there IRL. I decided to go all blue instead of a third color on the back and I am glad I did. I love the way it turned out. Mom might make shorts out of the blue to match.

I really like the reconstructed tops. I can see those on on both of my adult nieces. In fact, I've been tempted to make fun clothes for them to model for me... and seeing yours makes it more tempting.

Hi everyone! Love all of the Crayon rolls. They look great. I need to try one of those. This is a dress that I had the fabric for, but just never did anything with it. last night I cut it out and this morning sewed it up.

I need input from the kind ladies (and Tom) of this thread. I did this appliqué this weekend and just not sure. I mostly like it but I'm not pleased with how much the fabric shows through some layers. For example fabric of the "hair" shows through where the fingers overlap it. I also feel like the dots of the base fabric showing through almost look like Giselle is pocked. LOL It doesn't show as much in the photo as it does in person. I'm hoping it will be less noticeable once I line the back of the appliquéd area.

What do you think? ANY suggestions or critiques are welcome!

BTW - I'm also not sure about how the hands look. Something just doesn't look quite right but I'm not sure what.

I think that you did a good job, but I agree about the fabric showing through the back. The part where the hands overlaps the hair is the most noticable part. Maybe if you line the back in white the polka dots won't show so much, but I think that there isn't anyway around the hair part of it. I think her hands look ok.

I have often found that placing your foot squarely in the center of your husbands back and pushing as hard as possible works! Once he hits the floor gets up gives you a look and takes his pillow to the couch...no more snoring...in the room where I am soundly sleeping!

I will SO have to try that one! (although my husband only snores when he is heavily congested and even then it's not bad. I'm lucky. I've heard really horrible snoring and I know for a fact that it leads to separate bedrooms!)

They haven't complained about the halters..just Lexie doesn't like her "back out" as she calls it. She's just getting used to that style. I really like the bodice of the flamingo dress. It fit her perfectly. It was a daisy kingdom pattern. I will be using that bodice again for sure.

Sally is the SAME way. She feels exposed. It's a darling pattern though and it fits Lexi like a glove!

BTW - I just realized I had someone ask about what we asked for when we got Zoe's hair done at the Princess Fantasy Faire. Basically, I first just asked if any of the CMs doing hair had experience working with AA hair. Luckily there was one so I just let her do what she wanted. It helped that Zoe's hair was braided already so I just had to take out the braids and it wasn't too tangled. I noticed the CM didn't really comb through Zoe's hair so much as smooth the surface. It wasn't as fancy as some of the other girls' hair but Zoe was so happy I was more than satisfied. It wasn't easy to let her go swimming that afternoon, though, knowing her hair wouldn't hold up... but how could I say no to swimming when that was her favorite part of the vacation?
