Honey we were there and they were terribly outplayed. They hung tough in the first half and then....well lets just say we made 2 funnel cake runs:) Best thing for you and making Navy dresses, you know exactly where they can go when your lovely DD is done with them:)

Okay, I am in LOVE so far!!!! My sweetie is Ariel obsessed right now. Remember her room with the Anti-monster curtain??? Anyway, she is turning 4 ( I am very stressed about this! where does the time go??) and wants an Ariel birthday!!!!! I have until August, and have been looking at different Ariel customs, but I must tell you, so far...yours is my favorite!

You have no idea who else might want it? :rotfl: Give me a couple months and it is yours! :thumbsup2 DD left at halftime. It was not good. LOL She baked cookies instead. :)

Did you read the post where i divulged the shameful and embarrassingly LOW score I got the math portion of the SAT? So bad that my guidance counselor thought the only way it could have been that bad was that I must have gotten up and abandoned the test!:lmao:

I don't have a lot of math SKILLZ...but Jay does, so maybe he could help some...what about the easy fit pants from Carla C? would those be too ambitious for a very very skillz-less beginner? Would a skirt be easier?

You're right, I was just kidding about the mad math skillz, actually if you can add you're golden (until you get to a circle skirt, which requires algebra :scared1: ). I haven't tried the easy fit pants but they seem similar to my sewing for dummies pattern that was a favorite when I was learning and it's super easy. I don't think you can go wrong with any of Carla's patterns, she has pictures for goodness sakes!

So glad the police drove by and got the guy's description. He should have known better than to mess with the evil step-mom! ;)

I love this! It is super cute with the petti! The corset top seems so perfect. May have to CASE that.

Thank you: it was easy to do too!

I think that is adorable! Great work. So sorry the other top was slightly lavender. It was adorable too. Hi Scrappy.

Thanks: Scrappy says hi to his adoring fans. Hope your puppy takes to the medicine. It's horrible when they are sick and you can't do anything. I remember when my beagle went down-hill, it broke my heart.

Hi Guys,

Everything is so cute as usual!!!

Okay - I need advice on 2 things....
1 - I have the cute crab fabric from Joann's with the matching plaids- what should I make for eliz, tim and hannah for our trip to the beach next weekend????

2 - with the easy fit pants pattern, does it show where to cut the fabric for shorts or capris too? im also looking for those "twirl pants" with the flamingo fabric - are they from the same pattern? i was goinig to try to convince DH that I needed the pattern, but not sure he will go for it!!!

THanks, Wendy

Whaaa...you mean they make different diameter spool hick-a-ma-bobs?:scared1: Ok, here's an illustration, don't y'all laugh....or if you do laugh with me & not at me, k?:rotfl:

Here's my "Telescopic Spool Pin(-minus the felt, that got lost?)" per my 1985 French to Spanish manual.......

Here is the Mettler thread hole on the left, Coats & Clark thread hole on right.
th_Spools.jpg
There is a difference in size on the spools obviously. :headache: The machine is from 1985 & I suppose thread was universal.:confused3 Or there was an embargo on German threads that year?:rotfl:

Any suggests on how to accomodate my relic of a machine for these new fangled imports?:confused3 Here is for the DIS boutique wall of shame, my Singer Merritt 9612 circa 1985:laughing: :rotfl: :lmao: ......

Hey, vintage is all the rage now-a-days. :rolleyes1 Come on y'all join me in posting yer vintage sewing machines!!!! Let's see yer babies in action.:dance3:

Ok - if this makes you feel better - LOL - here is my vintage Singer that I sew on. It was made in 1977 and was one of the first electronic machines! It's and oldie but a goodie!

You mean these?

I just took my trusty sewing with dummies pattern for shorts and added ruffles. I am sure it would work with the easy fit pants pattern too. You just need a basic shorts pattern and then add ruffles like you would a skirt. HTH!

YES - those are the pants - does megan like wearing them? im tempted to try with elizabeth and the crab fabric, but sometimes she is funny about lots of fabric - what does megan think????

thanks, Wendy - do you recommend a shorts pattern? do you then just double the next layer and then double that layer???

Can anyone get me the sku off their receipt for the crab fabric or from the store. My store only has the coordinating stripe and can order the crab if I get the number. I am now obsessed with finding this fabric!!

Cute! I bought that fabric in the flannel and made my daughter a rest mat. Flamingos rock! I hope it will grow on her.

Ok, this will work I think. I scoured JoAnn's looking for matching fabric that had the same feel as the petti and I settled on this nursery fabric that had squiggles on it. Now if I could figure out what to do with that Alice fabric I would be happy! Everything I want to do needs more fabric than I have. I am thinking a peasant dress with the apron in the coordinating fabric. I don't know. :sad2:

Oh, wait here is Megan (and Scrappy):

LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a navy with big white polka dats & a couple of other nautical prints that I was going to use for a patchwork twirl. I love the top on hers though so I'm going to have to figure out how to combine them.

I have a cute beret pattern, but I really wanted to have the sailor hat. my uncle was in the navy & I know he'd just think it was the cutest thing ever.

This is the pattern piece. The square part obviously is the back of the collar. To do it the way she did you'd want the front to be longer. This is cut to just barely meet in the front not tie.

Thank you so so much! This really helps. I can't tell on hers if she has the collar attached to to top or if it is just a separate piece. I'm thinking it's separate. I was thinking of making it separte for Violette and putting a snap in the front and covering it with the bow.

OK I finished something this weekend and have another unfinished project to work on.....so here is the finished birthday present for one of the preschoolers at my DDs' school. It was the same pattern I keep using. I put it on my DD. She requested purple and it is....

And the partly done outfit with Minnie....I want to make capris and a second one for my other DD. This is Carla's pattern..Simply Sweet. I had to lengthen the bodice peice though, to fit Minnie in. Oh yeah, I bought her at Joanns. Too bad I can't applique like that!

Gret job on everything! I love the style of the princess top!

made this last night for DD - she again was making a strange face/pose. She doesn't like the outfit (says it looks like a dress), but I'm hoping it grows on her -yet she won't take it off

Great job! I love the pink ribbon on the front. Very princessy!

More too much Lilys!

Here's the dress and hat I made Lily this last week. She finally wore it to church today. It is the Belle Elyse tiered dress. It was not as simple as Carla's peasant dress and not very full, but I like it. The only problem is the bottom ruffle is ruffled sooo tight that I had to iron it down to try and keep it from curling up. And I swear my lawn doesn't look that bad in real life :confused3

Steph- Love the new top for the pettiskirt. It is very pretty and very princess like!

Jham- How do you like the hat pattern? I have been toying with making them but for some reason I have the idea hats are hard.

Today was terribly rainy and overcast so the pictures are not the best. Her is my DD in her newest dress. She has a new found love for Strawberry Shortcake. I love the fabric and I am kicking myself for not buying more. :)

I bet it has a snap. It looks like there wouldn't be room to get it on otherwise.

You can buy a "thread stand" to make your life easier. I bought a cheap plastic one when JoAnn's had their notions wall 50% off, but you can get nicer metal ones too. I haven't had a problem with the cheap one tipping over, but YMMV. There are lots of online tutorials on how to make your own if you're handy. :)

Sophee looks so cute in her Strawberry Shortcake dress! I like the hat pattern, it is actually pretty easy, the hard part is getting it to fit. If your seam allowance varies even a tad, the whole hat size can be miles off. You can adjust it though by taking in the bottoms of the seams without having to unpick anything. To make a long story short, I have incorporated a piece of elastic inside the back of the band to make it more adjustable. (I think I have made 5 of these now). For some reason the first hat I made accidently came out the perfect size for DD2 :confused3 The next one, same pattern pieces, fits DD10.

She really is a little cupcake! Thanks!!!

Thanks! I will have to give it a try. My DH has a Jeep Wrangler and the girls hair gets to be such a mess in it. He takes the top off in March and it does not go back on until October. We live in Maryland so it is not exactly warm in March/April and October! He is super ticked off because we have had a ton of rain and he has not taken the doors off yet. I love seeing him in a suit an tie in a filthy Jeep. It is the only thing that keeps him going to work everyday! LOL Have you ever see the sticker . . . It's a Jeep thing you wouldn't understand. :) It is so him well . . . us.

LOVE the fabrics! Lily is the cutest little thing! Maybe she needs a little curly haired, brown eyed boyfriend!!

Aimeeg- LOVE strawberry shortcake outfit. The pattern you used is so cute and perfect for everyday wear. Must.resist.temptation.to.make.more.girly.stuff.

So I finally finished the FINAL outfit. I still have to pull the gathering threads for the smocking, so imagine that they are not there. I really just needed to be done today! Plus, I wanted to pack up my camera- we leave next Saturday. here is the final product.

That little glittery ball is supposed to represent Tinkerbell. It isn't the best, but I couldn't think of anything else.

ETA- I decided against doing all the detail work. Traditionaly smocking isn't super detailed. I though it might look funny if I did it (and then I wouldn't want to rip it out).
