Thanks for the link!!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes
and the teachers need to perfect their wicked eyebrow arches...a good arch goes a LONG way!!!:cool2: :goodvibes

I think I have it perfected! One of my student teachers said to me, "I just don't understand it.....all you do is look at them that funny way and they do what you want them to do." I patiently explained to her that it took weeks of groundwork at the beginning of school enforcing the rules consistently (and the students learning that I say what I mean and mean what I say) before raising my eyebrow and looking over the rim of my glasses had the magical effect it does today! I think I may have sprained my eyebrow because of over-use (with the end of school for students being the 30th of this month) I wonder how you ice an eyebrow!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Classic!!!! i had almost the same conversation with a student teacher, but mine is a sort of quiet athourity tone of voice. She said " you get that tone in your voice and they seem to konw you mean business", and yes I have had to use it a lot lately (last day of school is tomorrow)

Congrats on the "new" sewing room. I wish I had one. I sew in the dining room. Not that we dine there. But there are those occassions. In fact, I have my computer in there to.

:

Oh I still sew at the kitchen table, but all my 'stuff' now has a home. I think if I put the machine down there I'll forget about everything I have to do. It's like the laundry for me. Once it goes down the shoot, if I don't follow it down the laundry will never get done.

HA! You don't remember me. Last year when I was in OC, we met up on the beach and the girls played in the water. I will be down again the 3rd week of June and hopefully at least one other time this season. My parents are now charging me and family to use their place---grrrrr because they need a new roof. So my trips to the beach will be less fequent this year. :sad1:

Do you guys go to OC NJ or MD?

My sister just called me. My Aunt is in the ER, she had a heart attack. I think I am in shock. Please pray that she is ok. She has MAJOR anxiety issues and having all those people "fussing" with her is going to make her nuts.

 I hope the surgery goes well. Will be thinking of you and your aunt.

WOW - I didn't realize that I had gotten so behind. I know these are a couple of days old, but I just had to comment...

made this last night for DD - she again was making a strange face/pose. She doesn't like the outfit (says it looks like a dress), but I'm hoping it grows on her -yet she won't take it off

I LOVE the flamingo fabric!!! Cute outfit too.

She really is a little cupcake! Thanks!!!

Thanks! I will have to give it a try. My DH has a Jeep Wrangler and the girls hair gets to be such a mess in it. He takes the top off in March and it does not go back on until October. We live in Maryland so it is not exactly warm in March/April and October! He is super ticked off because we have had a ton of rain and he has not taken the doors off yet. I love seeing him in a suit an tie in a filthy Jeep. It is the only thing that keeps him going to work everyday! LOL Have you ever see the sticker . . . It's a Jeep thing you wouldn't understand. :) It is so him well . . . us.

I had a 1982 CJ7 in high school and college. I LOVED it! Took the top off in March and didn't put it back on until November (I'm in South Texas). It was a bit of a pain when it rained, but I would wear my grandfather's old boating foul-weather gear.

I just scored the preshirred fabric in Ariel, Princesses and Tinkerbell. WooHoo
For those of you that already have the fabric, what do you plan on using for the straps?

Your dress looks wonderful. I just love those binky shots. I've a ton of Kirsta in Disney with her binky!! Even Mickey couldn't get it from her. :rotfl:

Thank you:)

As for Miss. Katie's binki :confused3 I have no clue how to get rid of it. It is totally my fault. I got rid of it for 4 days and gave it back. :rolleyes1 She just seemed so grown up without it and I could not handle it. Now I am so sorry. She will not let it out of her site. We tried to give it to Cinderella at Disney World and Katie was all for it until we actually got there. She started screaming in the line "DON'T LET 'RELLA TAKE MY BINKI". She only has one left and it is the last one. I will not buy anymore! I explained to Katie today (after searching for 20 minutes to find the thing) that this is her last binki and when it is lost, there are no more binki's. Katie's response was- "when I lose my binki you go to Target and buy me a new one" :rotfl2: She will not take one to college right?

Ok, Since sleep is not something that is NOT going to happen tonight.......

I figured I would keep my mind busy, so I am working on the "Knot" Purse from YCMT. But I have a stupid question. Do you iron the fusible fleece to the outside or to the lining? Or does it matter? I am not using the interfacing (since I can't find any right now). I am a mess I know.:upsidedow

Has this kid been evaluated for special services? Not being able to cut sounds like an OT issue to me...does he have a 504 plan? Is that why his homework and such isn't graded? I will not put up with verbally abusive parents anymore than I would put up with a verbally abusive child! I don't care what their child's "issue" is. That is not how we treat others! Sounds like administration needs to put their foot down and take some control back in terms of appropriate communication and protocol!

and the teachers need to perfect their wicked eyebrow arches...a good arch goes a LONG way!!!:cool2: :goodvibes

I was the LD resource teacher and he had NO disabilities at all, except his parents which really were big disabilities! The district is excellent at servicing students even if they don't actually qualify for anything. Administration did do it's best to contain the parents. The secretaries knew they were not to be put through to our phones in our rooms, they were never allowed to "roam" the school to get to our classes, etc. Thankfully our principal was excellent and was able to keep everything calm for the most part. It really is amazing though the things parents try to get away with! It never fails to shock me some of the things parents think should go on in a school. I would love to see some of them try and walk a day in a teacher's (or any other school personnel) shoes.

I will say, on a positive note, that even though I stay home now with my girls, teaching is a wonderful and rewarding job and I loved every minute of it. Like any other job you just have those moments that make you go hmmm. It keeps it interesting!

I did get started on my Mickey storybook stripwork skirt today!

Quick question for those who have made the stripwork skirt before. I am making it for my DD's birthday in a few weeks and it is already really warm (99 on Monday and 93 today) here. Do you think it is necessary to do the underskirt? We will be wearing it again if (probably) we go to WDW in September so it will be hot there too. I tried to find the pictures that people posted of their storybook skirts on photobucket and, of course, couldn't find them (totally my fault, for some reason I can only find things when I'm NOT looking for them on photobucket, kind of like my DH and the refrigerator :rotfl2: ). Any help would be appreciated!

So I've just had the best day. Here's pictures of what I've done.

IMG_0627.jpg

I've turned my cellar office into a sewing room. Of course the sewing machine is still on the kitchen table, but at least all of the fabric and stuff are together in one room. Hopefully this means I can get somethings done faster.

Congratulations!! I have been really workingo on my room. It is an ongoing mess but I always work so much better when I have a clear space!

Thank you all for the nice welcome back. Also thanks for the compliments on Katie's customs. I had a huge reply (with quotes) typed out twice and my computer froze up and I lost it. So I am sorry. I do appreciate all of the kind words.

Here are the larger pictures as requested:)

Update-

They are doing a quadrupile bypass on my Aunt tonight. I am told they have a wonderful surgeon.
Cindee, I will be saying prayers for your aunt and your family. I pray that everything turns out ok.

Deann, Tnmom25, made Lyddy one without an underskirt, and I think it looks adorable. It's an Ariel one. I'll try to find teh picture for you.

Ok, I found it! Sometimes I forget to actually put mine and Heather's pictures in the Photobucket account, this one wasn't there, so I will add it now! Silly me!

I iron the fusible fleece to the outside and the interfacing to the lining. You've probably already figured it out by now though. :)

Thank you:)

We had the same problem with Megan. I first told her she couldn't bring the paci out of her room and then she couldn't bring it out of her bed. It cut down on me having to look for it but she was happy as a clam sitting on her bed sucking on it. I can't quite remember how we eventually got rid of it but it took forever!

I did a double layer only because Megan is tall and I wanted to make it a little bit longer. It would look fine with only one layer.

The Binki Fairy visited our house for both of my girls. She takes all the binkis and leaves a present. It's very exciting. If she accidentally leaves a binki behind, you can't use it or she will take your presents back! Oh, dear! No one wants that to happen!

She's very popular in our family. My DN even dressed like her for Halloween one year!

Thanks for posting these pics! I'm making one for my DN4's birthday and wasn't sure how everyone did them.

Many prayers for her! My dad had triple bypass last year, so I know all too well the emotions that go with it. Many prayers going out for her!

The criss cross dress is at my mom's to have her do the gathering and attach it to the bodice. I got scared when I saw all of the material to gather and thought it was too much for me to try just yet. LOL! But I am starting on another criss cross top with classic "mickey" colors. I really like that pattern!
