Aaahhhhhh I finally finished this! I actually had a skirt about 50% done when I put a big hole in the denim as I tried to remove some stitching (stupid hem of the other side got caught in the stitches). Since I couldn't find a plain denim skirt in the right size, I had to improvise and convert a pair of jeans. Anyway, after buying a second pair of jeans, I started over and this time the skirt remained whole. LOL This is the first time I've done the ribbon "fringe"... and I think it will be something I do again soon.

BTW - I'm SO glad Zoe's no longer in the tiny sizes like this set!!! I can't believe how much harder it was to do the applique on this (it's a 2T).

Here is a pillocase dress I finished today. I should have been able to just "whip it up" but somehow life gets in the way.

That is the sweetest dress. I love how you got Ariel at the bottom.

My DH would be in so much trouble if he told me that. I would say that he would be sleeping with the dog but she sleeps with me.

Here is a pillocase dress I finished today. I should have been able to just "whip it up" but somehow life gets in the way.

Parker looks so cute! Is that "regular fabric" or an actual pillowcase?

Why Why WHy! do children have to grow? I made the cutest outfits for my DD last year. I made them BIG so she could get more use of them (she LOVED them). Just tried them on this year.............

DD is NOT happy!

My DD "suggested" I make more just BIGGER. (yeah like I can find those fabrics again!)

Atleast the matching outfits I made Jord still fit

I have made two items using this pattern now, and I'm having a hard time figuring out the sizing. (sorry I don't have pictures yet. My model is too "busy" playing at the moment).

The first one I made was a size 6 halter top, natural waist. When I finished it, I did not like the natural waist, so I took it apart, cut down the bodice to empire waist and sewed it back together again. I like the empire waist, but thought the bodice part was not wide enough across her chest. I just thought it needed more coverage in the front. (I did also shorten the elastic in the back so it fits snuggly against her chest and doesn't gap). Otherwise, the fit was pretty good.

So, I decided to make a dress using the jumper bodice in a size 6. It is huge! I had a hard time getting used to the 1/4" seam allowance since I am used to a 5/8" allowance. But in this case, I wish I had used the 5/8". Maybe it would have come close to fitting. This one will have to go in the closet for maybe next year or later!

Is anyone else having a hard time with the sizing on this pattern? I'll try to post pictures later.

I've been on a roll!! I made these 3 pairs of Easy Fit Pants (CarlaC from YCMT) this afternoon. I love this pattern - very easy and fast!! DS's summer wardrobe will be full of these!!

I have a few more outfits to post later tonight...the kids are dying to go outside!!

ETA: Yes I know my grass looks horrid!! It's a wierd type of grass that goes dormant or something for most of the year. By the end of May we will a have a green lawn that we never need to water.

I just made the halter too and though it need to be a little wider across the chest too. But I think I made a size smaller than her normal size so I think tha was my problem. I was used to making the smaller sizes for commerical patterns. (To me) The CarlaC patterns seem to be true to size. I haven't had any other problems with the sizing.

I too had issues with the bodice on the halter dress. I thought it was too thin across the front. I plan on adding a tie to the sides. That way it will cover more of DD's front.

Shame on him! Honestly, as much as I appreciate all the compliments on my applique, I really don't think it's something others can't do just as well with practice. I started doing pieced applique in December of 2006 so I feel like I'm a beginner. Admittedly, I've done more applique in that time than many would who are sewing only for their own children but I learned/improved the most in the first couple of months.

I think the halter is made to fig snugly and the jumper bodice is intended to be loose. I am about to make my second top using the halter pattern and I'm not sure what to do. I made one before and it was too snug, but I'm hoping I can just use a longer piece of elastic in the back. I'll have to try it on her again before I make another one.

Very cute! I LOVE that pattern! It is very easy. I am making quite a few for Lily's "everyday" wardrobe.

I think the halter is made to fig snugly and the jumper bodice is intended to be loose. I am about to make my second top using the halter pattern and I'm not sure what to do. I made one before and it was too snug, but I'm hoping I can just use a longer piece of elastic in the back. I'll have to try it on her again before I make another one.

I agree with you about the difference between the 2 different bodices. The jumper is made so you can layer it over other things (like a portrait peasant dress maybe?) I think if you lengthen the elastic you should be fine. Your other one lookd like it fit fine. The halter I made isn't so small that she won't wear it, it's probably more that I'm used to her being more covered because of the winter, than it being too samll. KWIM? I'll post it tonight. I haven't made DD any easy fit pants, but I'm sure she'll be getting those too. And the ruffled capris!

I also made the halter version and agree that it doesn't cover as much as I would like! I feel that the chest isn't wide enough! I also had to use a longer piece of elastic because it was way to tight! I think I would go up a siz next time around!

Hi everyone - Thanks for all the well wishes for my surgery. I actually came home last Friday - but this is the first day my eyes have cooperated and I was able to focus. Couldn't even enjoy lurking. I have been up to my sewing room a couple of times - just haven't felt like sewing. DD has Daddy Daughter dance Friday night and I do have material I was going to make a summer dress with shirring - did some samples of that and love the way it looks. So maybe I can get to it tomorrw.

As for the surgery every day I feel 100% better than the day before. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2/22 and oppted for double mastecomy with immediate reconstruction. The mastecomy/reconstruction was last Wed. So far so good. Have not yet been able to look at the scars - can see enough from above. Chemo will begin inn 3 weeks. I am 48 years old and have a DD9 and DS7 plus a wonderful husband.

I just wanted to say thanks once again for all the well wishes and prayers you all sent my way - to a perfect stranger - this is such a nice and friendly board - you were able to ge me out of my lurkdom. I hope to be regular poster here. even with pictures

I'm completely new here but have been trying to find the disboutique thread since forever! I am heaving a big sigh of relief and joy to have finally gotten here!
I haven't gotten a chance to look through all the pages of this thread yet but I'm very eager to.
I was also wondering if anyone knows anyone who makes those awesome outfits for slightly bigger little girls (as in me). Whenever I'm in WDW I always see little girls with the most beautiful outfits that obviously were made just for them and wish that I could have a fantastic outfit like that to wear to meet the princesses. Any info would be fabulous!

I think I'd beg Lisa Zoe to mail me some of her practice scraps, and when Hubby walked in, just calmly ask him what he thought and how hard you had been working on it. Psych!!

Thanks for posting this!!!!! I've begun trying my hand at applique and it hasn't been too easy. I've tried 2 so far and they look sorta ok.
I thought maybe you experts were born experts. It's good to know that even the pros had to practice too!!
