Hello...I'm so fed up with :wizard:...I'm thinking of not even bothering with it anymore and just sew for the girls. The problem is, is that I have so many ideas, and their closets are full! :rotfl: I love when people offer you VERY low amounts for what you have listed...okay..I worked on this dress for about 20 hours, but sure you can have it for nothing..and hey, let me thrown in free shipping to the other side of the planet...no problem...:lmao:
I havent sold things I've made on there, but I felt the same way about what I have posted there- I feel like the only high prices are the ones I bid on LOL!
do you use etsy or hyenacart? I think people "get it" that handmade means, hardwork and time on those sites...
That cruise one is gorgeous, simply gorgeous! You are so talented!
My neice is going on a disney cruise in May- she is 7, but wears a size 12! I was gonna make her something, and suggested as much but no one seemed to care, so fine, Ill skip it. Im not sure everyone appreciates the handmade stuff- some people prefer to go to WalMart and buy something there and thats what they are happy with. But to want boutique AND walmart prices- faagetaboutit!

I second the etsy suggestion.
I sell there and its slow going sometimes but sometimes I get a good rush of items sold :) its come and go but nice extra money when I make it.

Revrob I hadn't seen you on in a while and was getting worried! I don't always read everything or check often though.

I've been out of town a LOT lately. And it's not over. I've really skimmed looking for pics. I try to do that daily, but I don't always get that chance if I'm out of town. THAT leaves me with lots of pages to try to catch up with, so even more skimming. Thanks for thinking of me!

There is a great Bow tutorial in SewBeautiful magazine- I think its the latest edition...
I found my pattern-ease-finally but now Im not feeling too good...

I just heard DH yelling "NO! Bad dog!" and just knew from his tone it was Kayla (foster dog) and ran upstairs to see what the commotion was about... apparently he left my chicken pie (homemade pie crust etc) on kitchen counter- which WAS to be my dinner and she jumped on counter and ate it- because DH didnt put it away. So now I have no dinner...

Is it a tutorial on fabric bows that you're adding to clothing? Or how to tie a fabric bow? I'm intrigued. I wonder if I should pick up this mag.

SO SORRY about your dinner

That stinks! It seems that it's really tough to break through on :wizard:.

CINDEE - I LOVE your pics of Morgan and "baby"! It looks like you all had a great time. SO COOL! I'd love to do the cake thing while we're there - where is it? How do you arrange it? I would LOVE for us to enjoy that together - I wish you were gonna be there then. (where's the pouty smiley?0

So I went a little fabric crazy this week and I just thought I'd share what I got.

I'm so excited! I got the Minnie fabric from Hancock's today! They have like a whole bolt of it, I got 3 yards. It was 30% off. :cool1:

I'm going to make a nemo stripwork jumper I think for our trip. $3.49/yard + 30% off!

I can't remember off the top of my head the name of the person I'm casing this from but I am making the peasant dress with the pink fabric and then a simply sweet dress over it with the princess and eyelet straps.
004.jpg

101 Dalmations stripwork jumper. I might change out the red for a light pink and do an applique of the all white girl puppy instead. Still thinking about it.
006-1.jpg

I'm also in the process right now of making a ruffled top and pants with the pooh toile. I'll probably finish that this week. I'll post pics when I'm done with it.

Great fabrics!! I really love all of them. I tried going to 2 Hancock's yesterday (we are in a new area and I did a google search) and both were long gone! I was so frustrated.

Holy Cow! I love these! I want to do the Ariel one!

I've made the Ariel ones! I had never made hair bows before. But, these were easy and came out cute. I'll take some pictures and post them. Now, to get going on all the other ones I have planned to make....someday. (I think I have printed at least 100 pages of "how to" instructions for bows and have to date only made these)

Ohhhhhh that ruffle just adds so much to the cuteness of it all. Would you mind explaining how you do the ruffle on top of the casing. I never seem to get my casings right away....:confused3 :worship:
Sure but I'm still trying to perfect it. Sugarbees got me started and I was just trying to CASE her--so if you're out there--chip in! When I cut the legs out I just add about 1"-1 1/2" to the top--just figure how "tall" you want your ruffle and double it. Then when you press your casing down, fold it down the regular amount it says to (:confused3 ) plus half of what you added. So if it says to fold over 1 1/4" and you added 1 1/2" to the top of your pants, then fold it over 2" then stitch the bottom edge of your casing, leaving the opening for your elastic, then go around with another row of stitching about 1" from the first row(assuming you are using 3/4" elastic which I usually do), but you don't need to leave an opening on the "top" row of stitching. Then put in your elastic and close the bottom seam and that is it. Did that make sense? I have kid drama going on around me and now Lily is trying to help me type. :scared: I'm glad I just typed that out :thumbsup2 I keep forgetting what I did and have to figure it out every time.

I'm just way to scared to even try :wizard: Sugarbees started up an etsy site and I'm going to do it with her--I swear, I'm sewing as we speak Jen! :rotfl: and it seems way more low key and not nearly as stressful. You should look into it.

Oh GOOD!! I'm not alone!!! I flat out REFUSED to allow my step son to name his Raccoon Webkinz "Raccy"...that is NOT a name. It's a lack of a name...so he picked George.

:lmao:

Sally wasn't much better when she tried to name her horse "Neigh-y"...seriously...I eyebrow arched her for even suggesting it. She ended up naming him Blaze...at y'all will NEVER guess who's suggestion...

*ahem*

I know. Issues...

:flower3:

I was so proud--Luke named his webkinz "sweetie pie" the moment he saw it  Then he got the Valentine's frog and named it "froggy" :sad2: Seth is always creative. He has a build a bear WWF polar bear and he named it "General Bones" :rotfl:

Seriously, that outfit I just made for DD cost $30 in materials and I spent at least 20 hours making it. Right now I would charge $1000 per hour...hahahaha :happytv: Just kidding but perhaps the etsy thing would work better for you. I know LisaZoe is on there. Don't get discouraged...your stuff is fabulous!

HAHA, You know what, I probably should have! Hmmmmm....

I read on another thread here..... there are parents who don't like character or boutique clothes:confused3.

It seems they feel very strongly about it. I have never considered that before.

I may have been annoying people without even knowing it :lmao:

Anyway, I have tons to catch up on-we have been on spring break with Morgan's "baby" so I have a ton of pictures (teresajoy-sorry no Jord this time) to upload.

My sil doesn't like character clothes. I just don't make them for her kid. She does, however, make an exception for WDW trips.

Love all the fabrics but I am especially a big fan of the minnie dots!

Okay, I want to see the thread where people are saying they don't like customs or character clothes. Where is it?

I have always found that the people who feel the need to judge other people's decisions are typically the people who are least secure about their own decisions.

I have so enjoyed sewing disney-themed clothing for my girls over the last year. My DD3 is really the only kid I ever see in boutique clothing around where we live. My friends don't "get it" which is why I am so thankful for this thread. You girls "get it".

Clearly Im going on a hunt to find that SewBeautiful with the bow tutorial, I dont know if it included both a fully lined ties but it definitely showed photo-by photo how to TIE a perfect bow. Im going now.

I dont know what the deal is, both DD and DH have a bad cold, but me, my stomach is bothering me. Im wondering if it was the cup of Disney coffee he made me this afternoon. After drinking it I commented it seemed strong and asked how much he used....well have you seen those little cans they sell at WDW? He said he used 1 and 1/2 cans with about 4 cups water!!!

Okay..Im back, I found 5 of my copies, but not the most recent one- Easter edition that has the bow tutorial
My Sewing Room: Bow Know-How

Master the secret to tying a perfect sash bow.

when I find it- do you think its okay if I photograph my page and paste it here?

I'm one of the people on another thread that said they didn't like character or custom clothing. It's just not my style. :confused3 I will say I have seen some BEAUTIFUL customs on Ebay but they go for $250++++ but still not my style.

Just because I don't like something doesn't mean I'm judging another mom for putting her kid in it. Just like if I don't like apples and you do it doesn't mean I'm judging you for your decision to eat apples. :headache:

I do like made to match bows that I buy for our Gymboree clothing! That's the closest I come to customs. :goodvibes

And I do look at this thread because if there is something that catches my eye maybe I will get it. Well if someone will sell me one because I can't sew to save my life!!!!

Aw, I feel exactly the same way. I would list things too low and still people would message me and ask me if I would sell it to them cheaper than that! I think I have almost given up making money at it and am going to get a (eek) real job!

AWWWWW...Sir Scrappy is SO darling!!!! Yes yes I know that look...the "Do you SEE what I have been reduced to?! Scrounging around in a DOG bed when everyone KNOWS that Dachshunds belong in PEOPLE BEDS!!" My pup does that too...he'll knock the cushion out sometimes and drag a blanket over to his bed...it's his way of saying he's ready for BED! Doxies are burrowers to the highest degree! I LOVE IT!!!

Your Megan is a good and darling girl for loving her doxie and being good to him!! Sally loves our pupper SO much. Dog-people are very special sorts!!:goodvibes

My dog is currently at my feet chomping down a supposedly difficult to snarf down Dentabone. He eats through those things in SECONDS. He is a power chewer our boy!!

1) Yes, the dog bed is just a temporary stop until the real burrowing can begin!
2) I'm not sure if she did that on purpose but I'll let you know when we were driving back my son said, I sure did miss Scrappy and darling Megan said, I didn't miss him a bit! :lmao:
3) Scrappy too! I know you are not supposed to give them rawhide but I give him those little twisty sticks because it is the only thing that keeps him entertained for more than 30 seconds! He loves them and takes them out of my hand so daintily.

Congratulations on the minnie dot! You might find your pm box mighty popular now. I love the doggie fabric, it will make such a cute stripwork skirt, pink or red!

Oh, I did make something today. Snuggle prints were $2 at JoAnns today and I found flamingos! Megan likes her little rest mat and Scrappy thinks it's comfy too. Look Teresa, I didn't even make up my bed today!

I saw the thread this morning. In 3 pages of posts, 1 person said she didn't like customs. She said didn't like character clothing at all, and customs weren't her style. The post was quite polite and non-confrontational. No judging involved.

Making the cotton candy and cakes was a "Magical Moment" part of the Year of a Million Dreams. There was a VERY nice Disney manager who VERY nicely explained that to a not so nice guest who kept insisting HER children be allowed to make cakes too.

Morgan was THRILLED to see "her baby" and SMOOTCHED him all through the park :rotfl:
That is SO sweet!!!

That looks like fun! Tessa would love that.

Holy Cow! I love these! I want to do the Ariel one!
Just don't make Ariel's hair with a striped red/white ribbon or else people will keep telling you that it looks like a Pharoah. Not that I have any experience with that...:rolleyes1

I LOVE that!!! I think the bow looks fine. It's such a cute little girly outfit!!

I love the colors you used for this. They look so pretty on your gorgeous DD!! What a cute outfit. I love to see stuff on older kids- it gives me hope that Tessa will still wear things I make for her long into the future!

That is so cool. I remember when I was 9 I got to make a Personal Pan Pizza at Pizza Hut with the Girl Scouts and I thought I was all that and a bag of chips.
:rotfl: :rotfl2:

:headache: I had a similar experience today. We had a little backyard picnic for lunch. Sawyer got up and started running off, so I had to chase him down. When I came back, Pierre was eating my sandwich. :sad1:

Me, me, me!!! It's going to be adorable!

I was so proud--Luke named his webkinz "sweetie pie" the moment he saw it !

Aww...that boy is so cute! :lovestruc
I told Tessa that Luke scored his first soccer goal. She started clapping and saying YAY! Then, she said "I'm so proud of him." I asked her if she'd tell him that when she meets him and she said "No, I'd just be shy."
