I felt that way last year, so I feel your pain. How crowded was it? Like summer crowded? I was thinking it wouldn't be too bad, because of so many kids in school. It's also for a very short time this year! Our plan is to get to the parks early, and leave to beat the heat!

We went the week of sept 13 and we thought it was crowded. Not summer crowded, the waits for rides were still around 15 min or less except for soarin. But the park itself was crowded! And the restaurants. Everyone was eating!

The year before the park was empty.

We went Sept 19-23 last year, it was a last minute decison so no free dining for us. It was HOT and HUMID! We thought the parks were fairly busy but we spent most of our time in MK due to having a 27 month old with us. But the restaurants were INSANE! I had a hard time getting any character meals but was able to finally get Crystal Palace for late lunch a week before we left. Both table service and counter service places were swamped with people all day.

Love all your customs! Glad that everyone had a great trip.

I'm so excited...just had to share. tomorrow I'm booking our land and sea...
our sea portion will sadly not be with disney this time...too expensive. Their prices are almost 4 times what I'm paying.
So if we can get the dates, we will be sailing October 6-11 and in Disney from October 11-17.
I can't wait!!!:rotfl: I think my debit card might cry tomorrow!:scared1:

How exciting!!! We are waiting till the kids get a little older before we go on a cruise.

I love the quilts! I wish I had time to attempt something like that..

I have seen those two patterns so many times, and wish they have them in a bigger size. My dd is getting out of the 4s, and is wearing mostly size 5s now.

That turned out great!! I have extended the body of the peasant top to make it slightly longer.

Both look great, but I really like the yellow dress!

So cute!! I can't wait for dd to get Mia for her birthday so I can start sewing dolls' clothes.

That turned out really great!! Since my kids aren't stroller-rider, I was thinking something like that for the car might work...one behind the driver seat, and one behind the passenger seat!

Here are our new doll clothes. Hope you like them!

THis is wonderful! That fabric is perfect for this. Pretty and Practical!

My pup's registered name is...*grand entry music* "Beauregard Jackson Biltmore III"

We call him Beau-Jack! Or BJ...

he's a good boy. we love him to pieces!! he's my best boy!

:flower3:

I love that name!
Our Sophie is Englelong Simpley Sophie Her Mom was Englelong Simpley Smashing MLD Her Daddy was CH Englelong Smudge M W

So we kept the Kennel name Englelong and the Simpley

If you are looking for a Mini Dachshund Englelong is a great Kennel. Her breeder was so sweet. We picked her up at a Dachshund Club Dog show and everyone there was very excited for us. They would say "Oh your getting one of Betty's dogs? You will love her!"

My DD9 almost 10 just got her report card yesterday....we were all remarking how amazing it was that she had perfect attendance and A's. :thumbsup2 Well today is her slumber party that she has been dreaming about and looking forward to all year. Don't you know the poor child wakes up barely breathing, coughing, feverish and generally over-all sick!   So I had to call all of the moms this morning at 7:30am to postpone the party. She was crying and everything...terrible. However I cheered her up  with a breathing treatment, ginger ale, water-ice and the knowledge that in two weeks (when we rescheduled the party) that it will be loverly weather and we will be able to go horseback riding and play outside too! So I am home with her today, able to Dis and sew and all! Yeah for me

I just love all of the outfits posted this week. Sorry I can't comment each night but just know that I lurk and love  everything! I know how much time and effort you all put into your beautiful work! :goodvibes :flower3:

My 10 year old just went to school for the first time all week today! I know how crummy it is when they are disappointed. Riley missed her last day of volleyball yesterday and the whole team signed shirts and had a party. It was a tough week. She has some medical issues that always seem to flair up right about the time she has something fun scheduled.:headache:

Careful with double booking. They have been known to cancel one of the reservations without telling you
I havent experienced that yet. I usually schedule them for different times. hour and half to 2 hours apart when I have done it. I even asked about it this time because I had to take a earlier time than I wanted at Coral Reef and I said i may want to book something later somewhere else in case we arent ready for an early dinner- thats okay right? and she said definitely.

also sorry to repost this question- but is there anyone out there who can answer this?
For the pattern I posted about on 112- did you alternate what seam lengths to do (5/8 or 3/8) or just do all 5/8 seams?

Congrats to your daughter on a fabulous report card! Yea!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Sorry she is sick and you had to postpone her party.

Here they are! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF THE ENCOURAGEMENT. You were right - this pattern is easy. The sleeves - no problems! Can you tell I'm excited?

DSC07984.jpg

I used a size 5 for both girls. I think the waist it a bit high. Did anyone else have this problem?

Chantell

Here's a varaiation of the portrait peasant dress with a sash for the back. I did not lengthen the bodice on this one. I think the pattern is suppose to be more of an empire waist - it doesn't sit at the "natural" waistline.

Tinka_belle,
(Lurker here) I just realized you are from Louisiana! I saw where you posted about Jena, LA. I grew up in Winnfield and now live in Shreveport. Just had to post - thought it was cool to see someone from "HOME" on here.:yay:

Lilysmommy
Lorna
Good to see you too!! I don't see too many on here from LA.

You're right.

Goodness, I am behind today!!!
1)Well, you should hear how OLD my big sister is!!

2.)I saw this picture before I read that you posted it and I thought "What a gorgeous baby!" Yes, he was the most beautiful baby I've ever seen, even as a newborn!

1.) :rotfl: I hear she's not THAT old!
2.) Yes, I have to agree, Corey was the most gorgeous baby I have ever seen! I don't generally think newborns are all that beautiful (sorry Arminda and Lyddy!) but Corey was BEATUTIFUL!!!
Here's a little Ottobre wrap dress I made for Gabi to wear around recently :) I really like it :) I have made more things including a new set I'm in love with but a lack of sunshine and a love of natural light photography mean no pics yet :)

Such cute outfits!!!!

Please take pictures of your other outfits anyway! We really don't care if your pictures look "perfect"! We are here for the outfits more than the photograhpy! ;)

I finally got my niece's Pink Panther outfit finished. It was supposed to be for her b'day (March 29th) but I just got it finished.

pinkpanther.jpg
This is so cute!!! Heahte LOVED Pink Panther when she was little! One day, my brother and I decided we REALLY wanted to watch something else (this was before VCRs and TIVO!) so David told her that Pink Panther wasn't on anymore. She CRIED and CRIED!!! We felt so bad, we had to tell her the truth!
Hi!
. Right now I'm working on one for boys and girls. Louie has about 5 of these shirts now:
bowlingshirt1.jpg

Poor kid has a whole wardrobe of prototypes - LOL!

OK - hope this answers your questions about the new patterns. Please let me know if there is anything else you would like to know :) .

I know I don't post much (I'm shy ), but I love checking in and seeing the beautiful things you have made for your children :cloud9: !

CarlaC

Thanks for the explenation Carla. The new boys shirt pattern looks great!

I agree with what some of the others have said though, I love the YCMT patterns because you get all the sizes in one. And, you have the best directions of any I've ever seen!

I just need a sewing machine.

and the ability to sew.

So I can make clothes that fit me properly.

*ahem*

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
Aww, Miss Cammie!! Sounds like you've had a tough few days!! Poor Teddy, it must be so confusing for him! "someone" needs to get their act together, and realize what is funny, and what is NOT! How frustrating that has to be for you guys!

And, what's wrong with that nurse???? I hope you shot her a raised eyebrow!

(I've been practicing, but the kids just keep looking at me like I've lost my mind!)
Carla-

I have bought almost all of your books. I do wish you continued with the 1-8 size range because I have two girls. My younger daughter is a small 2 and my older daughter is a 5/6. I would be more than likely to buy the capri pattern if it would fit both girls. Honestly, I can see myself using a store capri pattern and adding ruffles instead of buying two seperate patterns. This is just MHO. I have been very happy with all the patterns I have bought and I am sure this one is great too!

Aimee
You said that very well Aimee, that is my feeling on it too. I LOOOVE Carla's patterns! But, I would have to buy two different patterns for my girls. And, I often mix two sizes together to get the right fit. That's not something you can easily do with a commercial pattern.

OK, I am WAY behind, adn about to go back and catch up, but first I wanted to post what I did today:

This is the yellow Giselle dress from the very end of the movie:

th_DSCN0869.jpg

And a "Wendy" dress:

th_DSCN0870.jpg

WHEW! I am TIRED!

Two more outfits to go! (she wants another Giselle, which I may try to change to something else...dunno what, and his lion king outfit)
These look great, the yellow Giselle is gorgeous!

Phew! I was out of town for a 4 day week-end and it's taken me all week to catch up!! I have seen some fabulous creations!! You ladies just never cease to amaze me!!

Here are our new doll clothes. Hope you like them!

Great job on the dresses and the girls are as cute as ever!! :lovestruc I lengthened the pattern to make DD's tops, but she is a size 8 through and a 10 or 12 in length. I do think the pattern is intended to have the empire style waist on the dresses.

Like many others from Florida, Michigan, and the UK, we spent last week in WDW:

Sorry! I was trying to be good and follow the directions on the first page, so I resized them. Is this better? I won't post the blue one... it's really is extremely fuzzy. You just have to promise not to notice how much some of my seams are off. :rotfl:

These are awesome quilts!! I'm thinking it would be awesome to do one using fabrics from some of my kid's outgrown clothes.

Poor baby! I know just how you feel. Mine burned her arm on a space heater the other day and I think it is going to scar...
That is so pretty!

In fact, this new shirt one is going to start at 6 months and go through size 7/8. I am soooooo excited about it!!! I've been playing around with the construction so that the front placket is constructed separately from the rest of the shirt. That way, if you mess up on the buttonholes, you don't have to worry about ruining the shirt - you just pitch the placket make a new one. There will also be lots of options for the piecing - vertical stripes, horizontal stripes, solid, etc. Here is another one - the first attempt, actually:
dragon.jpg

I pretty much have the collars and sleeves the way I want them now. The patterns are pretty much there, I just have to sit down and WRITE :surfweb: .

Anyways, thanks again for all the kind words and helpful input! Coming here definitely motivates me!!!

CarlaC

I bet that will be a great seller!!! It's hard to find button up shirt patterns for little ones!!!

1.)I remember this picture!!! He is a tall drink of water let me tell you!!!:goodvibes
2.)She SO shouldn't have been talking...her scrubs had armpit stains.

SO THERE!:snooty:

;)
1.) I had to laugh about the tall drink of water comment!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
2.):rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
People with arm pit stains should NOT make comments about how other people look!

Oatmeal you say???

No sewing for me yet. My dad is in the hospital with pneumonia so mom has been with him in the evenings. I am hoping maybe this weekend we will start in on one of the outfits. She is still teaching me the ropes so I am not brave enough to start in on my own. ;)

Although not sewing related, Erin and I did work on her countdown chain:

th_countdown.jpg

I love the countdown chain!!!

I hope your Dad gets better real soon! My 90 year old Grandma is in the hospital with pnemonia right now too, and has developed a blood infection. I'm really worried about her.

UPDATE on the ruffled capris!!!

In response to YOUR feedback...

Kim is going to put together a greatly discounted bundle pack with all three sizes! Be on the lookout!!!

That is so cool!!!! Thanks Carla!!! You are the best!

Which cruiseline are you thinking of going with? I totally agree- WDW cruises are really expensive compared to the others. DH and I went on a WDW land/sea a couple of years ago for our 25th anniversary. We enjoyed it, but it was just ok. We couldn't get off at 2 of the ports because of the weather and it was kinda difficult being stuck on the boat for that many days. Plus, we didn't go with any kids- it was just us, and as you know the Disney Cruiseline is very kid oriented, so I found myself kinda frustrated. Anyway... it kinda turned me off to cruising, but I'm wondering if we did another cruiseline if that would make a difference?? Have you used other lines before?

Like many others from Florida, Michigan, and the UK, we spent last week in WDW:

First day, checking in at AKL. The greeter at the line asked DD if grandma made the top! :confused3 She said no, her mom was a famous sewer! :goodvibes And between that outfit and the 'famous' talking Dolly (12" stuffed doll that she sleeps with) having intriguing conversations with the CM at the check-in desk, we were upgraded from the Toyota-beast view (standard) to the Wildebeast view (Sunset Savannah). With Bunkbeds! (Thought she was going to kill herself getting down from the upper bunk to run to the balcony to see Giraffes or the ever-famous Mohawk bird.) Pics are from MK later that day. Wendy loved the top, found Nana on the back, and loved that DD brought her a storybook - Peter and Wendy's story - to sign. Butterick peasant top, HeatherSue's inspriration, store-bought skirt

PeterPanfrontatWDW.jpg

PeterPantopwithatWDW.jpg

Next day was AK. I wanted the red outfit, she wanted the pink. :flower3: What the heck, it's vacation! Carla C's newest top pattern, lengthened by about 4"!, Walmart-pillowcase applique, patchwork twirl skirt from last year. I love this picture!

pinktwirlauroratopatWDW.jpg

Day 3, MK for a full day. Guess who got picked to be Cogsworth at Belle's Storytime? :) And someone needs to point me to where I can buy a red baseball cap for cheap! I kept thinking all day was that she didn't match...not being happy she was wearing a cap to protect her from the sun...it really bugged me! Mickey sequined applique pulled off a too-small Kmart tank and re-sewn, patchwork twirl skirt.

Mickeytwirlatwdw.jpg

Then off to 1900 Park Faire for tea with Alice! (believe me, you're happy you can't see *this* face! :scared: ) McCalls or Simplicity pattern from a few years ago. I hate the collar!

AlicedressatWDW.jpg

Day 4, back to MK for the am, DHS for PM. McCall's top, purchased bermudas. So hot her feet got a light sunburn!

MinniedottopatWDW.jpg

Day 5 - Gymboree (I know, the shame!) at Epcot I had a 101 Dalmations outfit, but it was so hot the day before and I was worried she'd be too hot in the double-layered skirt. I was also worried about a long skirt and a too-small stroller (promised for the Epcot portion of the trip.) She was supposed to wear it the day we went to DHS, but we mixed it up day 4 when MK got unbearable. She wore it to play in the sandbox yesterday, though! Carla C's top, 4" longer, with a double-layer skirt. I've since taken the top layer and scalloped it up with black grossgrain bows, but don't have a pic.

Dalmationoutfitwearing.jpg

And all of this (with the exception of the sequined Mickey top) belong to the every-day wearable collection around our house. You've not had fun as a mom until you've tried to keep a calf-length twirl skirt out of a bike chain!

Deb

Thanks for posting these. You DD looks absolutely adorable in them! Good job mom!

Last night I was trying to sew a Tinkerbell dress and I changed the stitch to one of the decorative stitches and the wheel that you turn to change the stitch type broke and now the wheel just turns freely. :headache: I told DH what happened and he said, "Well maybe you should just get another one. I don't think the one you have is made for all of the sewing you have been doing." So today I get to go look for a new sewing machine. I am so happy. I think he is ok with me getting a new machine, because the one I have has started squeaking real bad. I have oiled every part that I have been able to get to and it just won't stop.

Awwww............. that's too b ad your machine broke;)

Now......... Go out and have a GREAT time in search of the perfect mchine for you, and then come back, tell us all about it and post pics!!
