You could cut them off a little shorter to make capris and add a ruffle. Then make buttonholes in the denim above the ruffle and thread ribbon through and tie a bow. This looks really cute.

Adorable! I'll show your picture to DD and see if she'll go for it!

Thanks!

Very cute! Can you post a photo of the doll too? I was looking for a pattern for that cool pirate hat you made. But I couldn't find it. Could you point me in the right direction?

I'll try and post a few pics of her dolly who has a rather extensive mama made wardrobe too sometime soon. With a one year old and a two year old, I rarely find time to take pics of anything extra these days ;) Maybe Susie (her AG doll) would like to pose with her when I get to take pics of her new outfits tomorrow ;)

The hat is from this pattern http://www.youcanmakethis.com/info/boys/Hats-for-Boys.htm I've only made the bandana wrap in pirate stripes so far but I have big plans to make the other hats too :)

I was so far back in pages, now that Im here Im not sure if Im suppose to be responding to someone, I think I answered all my PMs too...btw-I love that I get PMs now, makes it feel like a little family of friendly women ;)

Okay-check Ill be doing the cross against the grain-but NOT diagonally across my fabric for ruffle.

Worst Mom Award- I gave myself that a couple months ago. I have a pull down attic, and I need to go up and find some fabric and a pattern. So I was up there digging thru my stash box, assuming DD was contently watching Baby Enstein...when up pops her head "Mommy" she says. I about had a heart attack- its bascially a ladder she climbed. Now when I go up I keep one eye on the "hole" and tell her, stay right there- Mommy is coming RIGHT back down. I cant even imagine what I would do with myself if she fell -! I guess she was 20 months.

CambellScot- You are too funny! I'd a sock'd her one! Oh and when they ask to weight me for something totally non-weight related- I tell them "no thanks" especially when I was preganant. "Okay, we just need your weight now" me-"no you dont" Id get the eyebrow arch from whomever- "No, really, Im serious, you dont need my weight"
They DO NOT need my pregnancy weight on record. Heck just write down "fat" where they want you to write a number.

Men's shirt- do you think this would be hard to make? Or do you know of a pattern that would be good?

Awwww! Thanks so much for the sweet words about my eBooks. :goodvibes It makes me so happy to know that you all are getting lots of use out of my eBooks and find my little tricks and tips helpful.

Thanks also for the input on the sizing. I will definitely pass the information on to Kim. :thumbsup2 Like I said, the YCMT patterns are something new and are a separate product from the individually authored eBooks. So we are very interested in customer feedback, and it will help us in developing new patterns.

My SewBoutique4Dolly patterns are still going to be in the full size range (plus dolly), that isn't going to change :teeth: . In fact, this new shirt one is going to start at 6 months and go through size 7/8. I am soooooo excited about it!!! I've been playing around with the construction so that the front placket is constructed separately from the rest of the shirt. That way, if you mess up on the buttonholes, you don't have to worry about ruining the shirt - you just pitch the placket make a new one. There will also be lots of options for the piecing - vertical stripes, horizontal stripes, solid, etc. Here is another one - the first attempt, actually:

I pretty much have the collars and sleeves the way I want them now. The patterns are pretty much there, I just have to sit down and WRITE :surfweb: .

Anyways, thanks again for all the kind words and helpful input! Coming here definitely motivates me!!!

CarlaC

I'm waiting for more boy options too! :goodvibes LOVE your patterns! So, are you saying that there will also be a dolly pattern for this boy shirt?:woohoo: :cheer2: That is awesome because poor bitty twin is always being left out!

Teresa, love the Corey pics, he was a beautiful baby! Now he'll just have to settle for handsome.

Oooh, did you make that outfit? I remember drooling over that on :wizard:

sounds like your littles ones got "a bit o' the devil in them" as my Irish grandmother would say!:lmao: Are Luke and Lily partners in crime often? Kids are smart too...they KNOW If they can get mom to laugh then it will lighten the mood significantly! Did it work?!

poor love sac...is it dead? Don't you WISH you could get inside children's heads and see what it was that possessed them to do such a thing? They must have had a reason of some sort! Teddy's reason for plugging the bathroom sinks was "He thought it would be funny..." :headache:
NOT funny.

 Love your Irish grandmother! Indeed they do. Luke is quite the instigator. Lily just sort of plays along. They like to "clean" things and I'm pretty sure that is what they were up to. I found a scrub brush behind a chair. The other day they "cleaned" the basement bathroom floor by covering it with soap and water. I swear, I was 10 feet away and did not realize they were making such a mess. (that bathroom has a door that opens into my craft room and one that opens into the family room). This is a new thing for those two. They have been pretty easy kids for the most part. And I SO did not laugh or crack a smile at that little stinker last night. I hope the lovesac is not dead. I took the cover off and washed it, but I don't think there is enough ventilation in the basment for it to dry out very quickly, so I need to see if DH can help me shove it up the stairs. It will be tricky. I think that old sofa is dead though. I didn't like it anyway

No sewing for me yet. My dad is in the hospital with pneumonia so mom has been with him in the evenings. I am hoping maybe this weekend we will start in on one of the outfits. She is still teaching me the ropes so I am not brave enough to start in on my own. ;)

Although not sewing related, Erin and I did work on her countdown chain:

countdown.jpg

cute countdown chain! I am so jealous of everyone's upcoming trips--and all you people getting free DDP!!!! Thank goodness for Disneyland or I'd be in tears. Don't get me wrong, I love Disneyland as much as I love Disneyworld, it is just a different experience. I think because of my suffering and sacrifice of no upcoming Disneyworld trip, I just may have to stay at the Disneyland Hotel! (or Paradise Pier--we've done the Grand Californian so I need to try all 3 eventually, right? ;) )

UPDATE on the ruffled capris!!!

In response to YOUR feedback...

Kim is going to put together a greatly discounted bundle pack with all three sizes! Be on the lookout!!!

   :dance3: go Carla! And thanks Kim! I feel better already :rotfl:

It's amazing how much time I spend DISing when it is housecleaning day...

Woohoo! My daughter is right on the cusp of sizes and $8.50 was just too much to spend for a pattern that would only work for a little bit longer. :yay:

And I can't wait for the shirt pattern! My DS only gets the Easy Fit pants in various lengths and t-shirts. I hate working with the commercial patterns after using yours. :)

YAY!!!!!! That will help me seeing as I need a size 1 and a size 5! Thanks sooooooo much!

The YCMT ruffled capris bundle pack is already listed. It's 14.95 for all 3 patterns. Way to go Carla & Kim. Thanks a bunch.

YOu know I have not used that, but honestly I have never had a simplicity pattern I did not like.
Lori

Do you think 3 yards would be enough fabric for a size M?
theres some cool fabric on ebay for about $12 that Id like to try this on.

Oooh, did you make that outfit? I remember drooling over that on :wizard:

No, I didn't make this one. It's on my "to do" list though. I love the bright colors! I will probably make something similar this weekend for Edie to wear on our trip in a couple of weeks.

We all mess up. . . the WoW can be tough. . . I am lucky I am satisfied with soda (seems like east coast LDS people don't read it as all caffeine, U mean it does say HOT DRINKS ;) ) but DH has iced tea once in a while, lol, and he definitely feels guilty. . . but we do our best :)

AWWW - I cannot wait. DH and I are going to start trying at the end of this year. I NEED to lose some weight and I have to get my cancer all clear (was diagnosed almost 5 years ago). . . I definitely have the baby bug, but we have to wait for the all clear, and in the mean time I need to get some lbs off (will be better for me and hopefully future babies).

I REALLY like this fabric. . . goofy has always been my second favorite Disney Character (after Tigger). . .

Good luck with getting the all clear, I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm sending pixiedust: your way! Congratulations on five years, that is fantastic!

Not at all. ;) I haven't done it yet; I guess it needs to be saturday. especially because her birthday is the 17th... and it has to be mailed.... I better get cracking...

I DO finally have the pictures from my sister. And enough posts to show you guys these... I realize it's the same pattern, but they are different... I promise! Ok, maybe not by much, but I want to share them all anyway. The purple one is for a cousin, the others are for two of my sister in laws. One is due May 1st. I can't wait!!!

The blue one is blurry.... it's not your eyes! Thanks for looking! :goodvibes

Wow! Impressive! You've got to get a closeup of some of the squares so we can see what is on each one! Fantastic job, they're beautiful!

:flower3: Good Morning... I practiced the multi quote thing and was so very pleased with myself and feeling all fancy schmancy and poof its gone on me!:scared1:

Anyway beautiful work everyone! Still wishing I had my own little girley to sew for.

Today my youngest turned 12. Our trip in 2 weeks is a surprise for my boys so I got a 25 piece Disney puzzle and wrote Happy Birthday Jake and Levi and put Disney World April 27-May4, 2008. On the back of each piece I put direction for a treasure hunt to find each piece... Some very simple and some rather complex treasure hunting will be going on. The last puzzle piece will tell them to go to the coffee table and make the puzzle. I just finished costumes for the Pirate and Princess party. (I wanna be a pirate) I made skull caps, put a jolly roger on t-shirts and a red sash belt. (They have black bathing suits)At that point I will Have them open their costumes and read about the P&PP. My dear hubby asked if he gets a costume. He is such a good sport. (I made him to match the boys.)

Well that is quite a ramble. I am just so excited to FINALLY tell them!

I'm off to an IEP meeting and the youngest's school and then home to make fudgy chocolate cake. I have lost 27 pounds for this trip... I so wish he had chosen a cake I didn't like.

Happy Day eveyone!

Oh, that sounds like so much fun, what a great idea! And :cheer2: for you for losing 27 pounds! That is hard work!

So here is my Bad Mom of the Year story...

Last night I was fininshing up DD's Pooh outfit. (I worked on the 1950 Singer and got it working again:cool1: ). I had just ironed the straps and needed her to try it on one more time before I sewed them in place. As I was pinning, she decided to touch the iron! That is the worst sound ever! I think I heard her skin sizzle.:scared: I can't believe I did not turn it off! :scared1: We ran to the kitchen and ran it under cool water while she sobbed:sad: It has not blistered so I think we got to it fast enough. Now she is scared to come in the room with the iron! AAAAHHHHH!!! Leson learned!:headache:

Oh, I burned my arm on an iron once and it hurt worse than any other burn. Poor thing! I'm sure if it didn't blister you got it pretty fast. Poor baby! My in-laws were watching my girls over Christmas and one of them touched the stove top and instead of putting water on it they put Carmex on it  ! I was furious! Glad you knew what to do for her!

Does anyone know of a good way to get out grease stains. I'm forever finding grease marks on my girls pants from them dropping food in their laps. Of course, I never notice until I go to iron them so they can be worn again. Any help??

Get Carbona. It comes in little yellow bottles and there are different types for the stains. I've found it in the grocery store, I think I've seen it in JoAnnes. And Hancocks when we had one here.

Here is the website.

http://store.carbona.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=4

I've used this on old stains, new stains........... it works great!

ouch! I had the best mom in the world! but she liked to tell me the story of the time when I was a baby and she pinned my diaper right to my flesh :scared1: (yes, that dates me, but I did also wear pampers so I'm not THAT old :rotfl: )

I was slightly before/just at the beginning of disposable diapers but my mom used cloth. Somehow she managed to get a yellowjacket caught in my diaper while diapering me. Of course I screamed since it stung me several times before she figured out what it was. How did she manage that though? :confused3

Oh one totally OT question...DH has agreed that we will have one night to go out to eat at WDW just me and him:cool1: . My parents are going and they will be with the crew. So here is the question...give me some suggestions on where to eat. We have no planned time to go to DTD with the kids, so I was thinking somewhere over there might be good? Or would you suggest somewhere else? I am pretty sure we have no intention of going back in the parks. He won't be up for fancy and he hates fish. Any suggestions? :confused3

If you want fancy (and I know you said you didn't!) we ate at Victoria and Albert's before we had kids and it was fantastic! We also ate at the French restuarant (not the fancy one but the other one that is downstairs) and it was very good last spring (either Chefs de France or Bistro de Paris).

I finally got my niece's Pink Panther outfit finished. It was supposed to be for her b'day (March 29th) but I just got it finished.

th_pinkpanther.jpg

Um okay I completely BURST...loudly...into tears over those pictures! Hand over my mouth crying like a big baby! What gorgeous gorgeous children!! And Luke too! Absolutely scrumptious little munchkins. I remember well when teddy was 3...where have the years gone. He looks like a little man. It's killing me how big he's getting...both front teeth gone...angles all over the place. Although the crocs we got for him are HUGE. He woke up this morning and wanted to know if he'd grown into them overnight..seeing as how he IS six now!

AWWWW thank you!!! I snapped a pic JUST FOR YOU last night!!!

here's my baby...settling for the DOG bed b/c his mama was working too late!
th_100_2314.jpg

Sally does actually have some boutique needs! MissCammie has got herself some IDEAS!!!! Shall I PM you?

:cool1:

for all y'all believers in Half Birthdays!!! I knew I wasn't alone!!!:woohoo:

and here's a sort of pic of Teddy and his new Webkinz he opened this morning!

th_100_2343.jpg

Teddy actually needs a little prayer this morning...his birthday morning...yesterday he and a few of his partners in crime decided it would be a good idea to plug up FOUR bathroom sinks, turn on the sinks and leave the bathroom. They flooded the entire bathroom and a good part of the hallway. This is the fourth time in two weeks he's been in some actual trouble. AND he fibbed about it. Somebody thought it was funny when she was told what had happened. Laughed about it. In front of him. So now he is laughing about it and probably planning his next bit of naughtiness.

this is a trend lately. It's concerning. And frustrating.

I have been saying prayers to St. Jude for him all morning...the Patron Saint of Lost Causes! Cuz his goose is COOKED on this one. Has to see the principal on his birthday. Had his classroom cupcake privileges revoked.

I'm worried about my little Teddy. HOw is he ever going to know what is right and wrong when one half of his life excuses away and laughs at rather serious situations?

:confused3

yay step parenting ROCKS!;)

OH and Nurse CrabbyRump at the office was none to happy to see me this morning...rash is mostly gone...and it WAS the detergent...but she made a nasty face at me when i came in AND when she weighed me she told me that I looked unhealthy and being too thin is unattractive...

wow.

Did that nurse just call me ugly?!

and I'm NOT too thin.

I just need a sewing machine.

and the ability to sew.

So I can make clothes that fit me properly.

*ahem*

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Oh Teddy! That stinks that his Mom isn't more supportive. And to laugh about it......not helpful. It is hard to always be the "mean" parent or the bad guy. They don't understand at this age that you love them.

Awwww! Thanks so much for the sweet words about my eBooks. :goodvibes It makes me so happy to know that you all are getting lots of use out of my eBooks and find my little tricks and tips helpful.

Oh, we might be doing a bowling party for my Dd4's fifth birthday and that shirt would be perfect! Hurry!

You could cut them off a little shorter to make capris and add a ruffle. Then make buttonholes in the denim above the ruffle and thread ribbon through and tie a bow. This looks really cute.

OH MY GOSH! I love this outfit! It is fantastic!

CarlaC- In case you come back- is there any chance the easy fit pants pattern will be done in larger sizes? I have a 7 yr old neice who wears a size 12 (so Im told) and I wanted to make some jammy pants for her...

Just bought this fabric and the simplicity pattern to make a men's shirt for DH
31e0_1.JPG

and if theres enough left over maybe a little coordinating top for DD

I got the free DDP this morning too! We are going to be at Wilderness Lodge for 7 nights from 9/9-9/16. Does this overlap with MNSSHP? I am worried that I may have bitten off more than I could chew since the baby will only be around 11-12 weeks old. My thought was to book it now and if it is too much I can cancel it but I really hope it works! I need a WDW fix!

Poor baby! SOOO off topic, but this reminded me of being at a funeral one time and my aunt somehow got a bee in her girdle :rotfl2: You should've seen this (not young, not small) woman dancing around shrieking and screaming "there's a bee in my girdle!". :lmao: It was many years ago and my DSis and I still laugh about it. She was fine BTW, we were not the only ones laughing. Now how do you get a bee in your girdle?
