Let me say everyones outfits are fabulous the last day and a half. I have been a little absent , life has been busy.
too make a long - very long - story short.
My oldest Anastasia (7)has gone to private school for the past 4 years. since 3 yr preschool! And since Kindy year (last year) she has had one girl picking on her. calling her ugly, stupid. the usuall bad name things. then she started pushing her. Last tuesday there was a field trip to a zoo. I did not go - i usually do - but a friend went w/ her daughter and told me how this other girl just taunted anastasia. well I guess after a couple of minutes anastasia lashed out and told her to "shut up, stop picking on me!" then the little girl told the teacher how anastasia was yelling at her and being mean. well the parent stepped in and told what "really" happened. I call the school the next day and yeall and say how they should have solved this last year, why does a parent tell me thins and not the school. So that was Wed. Well I went in her room that night and read her diary. it tore my heart out. Anastasia has such a small worth of her self, saying she is stupid, she needs to be better so the girl will like her etc! WOW! So thursday I call again. That night she came home and said how the principal told her to be friends and play nice! I told her"you don't have to be friends with that girl!" she says the principals says she has to! I had enough. did not send the girls friday! Called a new school and they were so nice about it and agreed to accept her if she passed a test!
They called friday at lunch and said it was the highest they have seen on an entrance test in years and they would be happy to have her! They are a charter school with an accelerated learning like the private school!
I disenrolled monday and she started tuesday!
My baby is so happy now. She was happy when she came home tuesday and she made friends with a girl and she gave her a welcome to our school card! I am just so happy that this seems like the right thing. What was I spending that $9,000 for this year! To pick on my kid and do nothing! We are out of there! Jojo goes to there preschool and will for the last 7 weeks of school!
So last night she asks when I wil lstart sewing for her now. I told her she said she did not want me to anymore! Well I guess that girl thought she was ugly in my clothes!!!! So that mean girl influenced everything and I am glad she is out of that school!!
Lori

Sometimes kids can be so mean! I am glad you got it worked out. :goodvibes

Here we are meeting Cinderella in the Castle. This is Heidi's 6th birthday. She's wearing her Tinker Bell. Aleah has on her Minnie Mouse outfit.

All of these turned out really cute! looks like you guys had a great time!

Here's Gabi's new outfit, she'll probably wear a tee shirt under the top when we go to Disney as she is so pale and burns so easily. I also am making them a bit big for now as we don't go until September :)

Your DD is beautiful!! I love that it is reversible! Adorable!!!

I am soo stressed out! .
I am so very sorry you are going through this. You will definetely be in my prayers and thoughts. We are here for you.

Okay here's a picture of the secret dress I'm working on. It still needs some work. I'm carrying the gold swirls up top and champagne shear ruffle on the sleeves. DD8 doesn't know anything about it yet. Sunday I'm going to let her try it on.

th_IMG_0222.jpg
This dress is looking GORGEOUS!!!

You guys are such an inspriration! I absolutely love all the outfits. I had 2 days off, so I am getting caught up on about 15 pages of stuff. I wanted to share some of the outfits I got done while I was off. I think I am improving.

Here are the outfits:

I love these outifts, and your daughter is simply adorable!!! I really like the bright safari twirl skirt! So cute!!! And the froggy jumpsuit is adorable!!!

Thanks for letting me share. I've been so frusterated, and the time change messes us all up and threw us for a loop. We'll get it together...hopefully soon.

 That has to be so hard for her and your family. We are here for you if you need us.
I am so sorry that you are having a difficult time right now. You and your family are in my thoughts.

Here is what I have been working on the past 3 days. CarlaC's A-line top and easy fit pants.
Froggy006-1.jpg

It's reversible!

And because Lauren insisted she be in the pictures:
Froggy007-1.jpg

Ok guys!!! I haven't posted in forever, I mostly lurk and learn. Anyway, I had to comment on the dream thing. I also have the high school dreams. That is so weird. I dream that I'm there and I have no idea of my schedule and can't figure out how to get one, that I can't find my locker anywhere, and if I can find my locker, I don't have a combination and can't get one. I don't have those dreams as often as I used to. I absolutely never "dreamed" that other folks were dreaming the same thing.

I saw that! Maybe Tessa should call her Uncle Brian and let him know it comes out the day before her birthday.
He'll trade yah, you buy it for us, he'll buy it for Tessa! :rotfl2: I think Uncle Brian was thinking of Polly Pockets. Yep, I'm quite sure that's what he said he was bringing! :rotfl2:

You've got a handsome model there!
I love the jumper, too cute! The fabrics you picked out are great! I want to make a Dora outfit for my "Bestest Friend In The Whole Wide World"'s daughter for her 3rd birthday. Yes, we actually call each other by that title.
We've been friends since we were 2 years old.
:snooty: WHAT EVVVERRRRRRRRRR! :snooty:
You shouldn't lie to people like that.

I could have friends too, if I wanted to! :snooty: I just don't want the trouble!
Isn't that the dream where, on the way down, you see dad standing there and he just says "What do you want me to do?" :rotfl:
Yep, that's the one! He is walking up the steps on the outside of the monument, I say "Help me." and he holds up his hands and says, "What do you want me to do?" Hmmm, wonder what THAT means?

I made this using carla's simply sweet pattern:

!;)
I love the dresses!!! SOOOO cute!!!
I bought some material at Walmart today (I just don't have the willpower that Lori has!) that I'm thinking I might make into one of these. I just haven't decided which one yet! Althogh, of course I overbought, so I could do both!

I made the fully lined, reversible version of the Butterick 5019 pattern (altered)
This is some of the Hobby Lobby fabric I've been  about!

th_05ae2b27.jpg
LOVE it Wendy!!! Fabulous fabrics!!! And Norah is so darn cute!!!!

Hey everyone! I am fairly new to the DISboards. My name is Danielle, I'll be 23 next month. My husband is in the army and is currently deployed. I have a 19 month old little girl named Violette Bleu and we live in Fayetteville NC. We are planning our trip to disneyworld for Sept when my husband comes home for his R&R. I love boutique clothes and have been making tutu dresses for my daughter Violette. That's the only thing I know how to make. I don't know how to use a sewing machine but really want to learn. I want to make Violette some cute little sundresses and outfits for the trip. Can't wait to chat with you ladies. You seem like a fun group!
:welcome: We are fun, if I do say so myself!
way to go

i absolutely love this it turned out adorable i love the fabric even more , My mouth is still killing me and if i wasn't so drugged:rolleyes1 i would go back now but i am going to have to wait till maybe thursday after our meet Whatcha think? You are so smart i love the "Magyver skill's" you have ...
My meds are kicking in again so i am going to lay down now great job guys !!!
I hope everything heals up really quick, and your mouth feels better soon!

I am fixing to applique the Incredibles logo onto a shirt and I can't decide what colors to do.

Here is the logo:

The_Incredibles.jpg

Would you---
a.) go around the whole thing in black
b.) go around all of the "i" in yellow and both swirls in orange (that would do the whole applique)
c.) or do something else. If this is your answer -- what would you do?

I have the applique ironed on the shirt except for the white dot. I have one cut out but I didn't iron it on yet. I don't think it needs it and nowhere else in the whole outfit is there any white. Would you go ahead and add it or leave it off?

Thanks ladies!!!!

My vote - B - no white dot!

For names we had plenty of time to decide as I was on bedrest the whole pregnancy, but I also had a lot of rules since I had taught in elementary schools for 12 years. It had to be short, easy to spell, no way to shorten it, and not stand for something else. For the boys, middle names were family names: Edward, David, and James. For Ella, her middle name is inspired by the U2 song, "Grace" but that is how we felt after a long infertility road and finally being blessed with 4 children! Ella's name is a family name and the boys are names that met my criteria and weren't associated with a less than stellar student from my past...*ahem* so Jack, Sean and Mason made the cut.

So there you go. Thanks for sharing all your amazing creations!!!!:cool1:

:rotfl: Sounds like my mom. She kept telling me things I wasn't allowed to name my children because of students she had in the past. She's been special ed teacher for 20+ years so it was a loooong list.

I also think B, and there is a white dot on the I! But if you are not trying to be technical I would leave it off! My dd4 LOVES this movie, we have seen it about a billion times!:rotfl:

Looks like b it is and no white dot for the Incredible applique! Everytime I look at my son's jammies, I think that white dot looks wrong but it's there. I really didn't want to put it on there (one more circle to try and applique).

Thanks ladies!

Ohh, I almost forgot. My recurring dream: I just had it last night in fact. I am driving in the car and I step on the brakes and nothing! Then I usually slide off the bridge or embankment or whatever. Usually a bridge and into the ocean. I have to try my hardest to wake up before we hit the water so I don't have to worry will I get the window down, seat belts unbuckled and everyone out of the car before we all drown. I wish I knew of a way to make it stop!
Another scary dream! I hope you don't have it too often.

Ok...finally..hehe...Here are a few pics of the tutu dress I made for Violette for Halloween. She was a flower fairy.
halloween.jpg
I like the tutu dress. The other thing though gives me a serious case of the chills. :scared: I had to cover the screen so Lydia wouldn't see it.

SO, I went into Joanns today for one little piece of ribbon
I don't know what happened, but among other things, I wound up with this:
I hope glorib doesn't mind if I CASE her by making a wrap skirt and pageboy hat for Lily?

th_IMG_1089.jpg
So pretty!!! I can't wait to see your outfits!

Since I'm sharing, I think it was Teresa who asked about my name stories, so I'll share those, too.

Whew! That was very long-winded! Sorry!
Thank you!!! I love your kids names, I can't imagine them as anything else either!

On a related note, we have a family wedding this summer. I was thinking of making both Lauren and I coordinating dresses - something in a floral print for me and something coordinating but not matchy-matchy. DH says we will look dorky. What are your thoughts?

I think you should do it, I don't think it would look dorky at all!

So there you go. Thanks for sharing all your amazing creations!!!!:cool1:

Hi! Thanks for sharing your name stories!!! :welcome:

To pick on my kid and do nothing! We are out of there! Jojo goes to there preschool and will for the last 7 weeks of school!
So last night she asks when I wil lstart sewing for her now. I told her she said she did not want me to anymore! Well I guess that girl thought she was ugly in my clothes!!!! So that mean girl influenced everything and I am glad she is out of that school!!

Lori
Lori, I'm so sorry Anastasia had to go through this!!! Poor little girl. I'm glad you found a new school that is a much better fit!

So I talked to the neighbor girl again and she said "no, Seth wasn't doing anything, Jase just punched him"
That is just awful! Poor Seth.

Here we are meeting Cinderella in the Castle. This is Heidi's 6th birthday. She's wearing her Tinker Bell. Aleah has on her Minnie Mouse outfit.

Luke loves his Madagascar (or as he used to call it (oscar oscar) p.j.s In fact they turned out so cute I'll let him wear them for "everyday clothes" if he wants (like right now because he won't take them off).

Yikes! Looks like someone's hair needs a trim. Why does it take a photo for me to realize this? Poor boy can hardly see

Doing "The Luke"

IMG_1094.jpg

I did the 5 minute "frayed" applique :thumbsup2 I tried to get the fraying started with my fingernail. I like it!

IMG_1093.jpg

Luke looks adorable!!!! I showed Lydia this picture and told her that it was Tessa's Luke. Brian, sitting across the room said, "WHAT? what did you say???" So I told him that Tessa said she is going to marry Luke (she told me that Friday). So, Brian asked Lydia what she thought of it, and I swear Lydia had that look on her face that Luke gets when he sees a picture of Tessa! It was so cute!

So, now Uncle Brian knows all about Luke too!

Here's Gabi's new outfit, she'll probably wear a tee shirt under the top when we go to Disney as she is so pale and burns so easily. I also am making them a bit big for now as we don't go until September :)

Love the outfit!!! When Lydia saw it she said, "OOOOOH! That is sooooooo cute!!!!!"
Hi all!

I'm loving all the new creations (and eating up the sweet compliments on my patterns - THANK YOU)!!!
(1) not knowing my locker combination, (2) having signed up for a class and only attended it a few times and forgotten that is where I should be at that time of the week and the textbook is in that locker that I forgot about, (3) being ultra close to graduation, but forgot to take a PE credit or something, (4) absentmindedly bringing home radioactive experiments, and having guys with Geiger counters show up at my apartment or (5) having no clothes on because of some wardrobe oversight.

Oh - and baby names! I wanted to quickly share where we came up with the name Louie :) . My husband's name is Delmar - he is named after his dad. My father's name is Louis. Originally, we were going to name our little guy Delmar Louis. One day, my husband said "you know, my father already has a namesake - let's give your dad one. " So we flipped it, and Louie is Louis Delmar  .

Carla
Love the name story, it is so sweet!!
I can't say I've ever had the radioactive experiment dream! That is a new one to me!

Good luck with the move! I hope you still have time to design!
Why don't you take 2 colors of ricrack and twist them together?
That is pretty cute. Here's a picture:

I like b with or without the dot.

Hi All...I'm just posting to subscribe to this thread, I don't want to miss anything! LOL. I've been reading Disboards for a long time, but never looked at this thread before...for some reason I thought it was a shopping thread!:confused3 But now that I know it is a sewing thread....:cool1: I'll be reading all the time!!

I love the adorable outfits that you've all been making for your kids (and yourselves). I'm not a huge garment sewer, but I am a heavy duty quilting addict!!

I have an 11 yo DD anda 5 yo DS. When DD was little I made her a few outfits, but I think that now she wouldn't be caught dead in something I could make. I just pointed out a picture I saw with a cute dress made from a tank top and she said "NO WAY". Sigh. Oh well.

:welcome: Glad you found us!!!
Thank you! i cant wait to see what you make with them! Are you feeling any better?

I'm feeling much better! Thanks for asking.

I wouldn't have done it that way, but I love your idea of the yellow and the orange. (I probably would have done all black, but since it doesn't look that way in the logo, it probably wouldn't be best).

As for the white... I'd leave it off. If you feel it needs it when its finished you can just do it with thread rather than the white fabric, KWIM? Good luck! I can't wait to see it!

Brian just told me a cute story, so I had to share it!

Arminda's school had a pie social last night. Mom and Heather came too. While we were in the cafeteria eating our pie and ice cream, Brian was sitting at the end of the table with Lydia and Tessa. Brian said Tessa looked over to Lydia and said, "No one has ever has as good as friend as you, Lydia." I believe they then hugged.

Isn't she a sweet heart!! :lovestruc

(and just to make sure I heard it right, I asked Brian if Tessa meant that Lydia was the good friend, and he said she had!)
And, because it is technically Thursday, and our weigh in day, I'm going to post my loss for the week!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!4.2 POUNDS!!!!!!!!
   Thanks in part to the teeth thing, and partly to actually being careful this week!

I forgot that I wanted to talk about the dreams! I cannot believe how many of you have the same school dreams I have! I never would have thought they were so common! I have the locker combination one, the forgot my schedule one (and have to go to the office for a new one, but sometimes can't find that either!) and the forgot to attend a class for an entire semester... I also have performance anxiety dreams... I have dreams where I am in a pageant and am running late and forget an important part of my wardrobe (usually the evening gown) or have forgotten what song I am supposed to sing... :rotfl2:

How do you do this ribbon work on the bottom of this? I have wanted to do this forever!!!

I cut a 2" wide strip of fabric, made it 2x or more times wider than the skirt, used my rolled hem stitch on my serger to hem both edges, ran a double row of basting stitches and gathered it then stitched down the middle and unpicked my 2 basting rows. :thumbsup2

Luke looks adorable!!!! I showed Lydia this picture and told her that it was Tessa's Luke. Brian, sitting across the room said, "WHAT? what did you say???" awww! And wow on the weight loss!    (I couldn't do 4.2 bananas).

Okay, I'm off to bed. Now I will probably have "lost my school schedule" nightmares! It wouldn't be the first time! Funny that it is so common!

I just got a bunch of fabric to start making outfits for my munchkins, and hopefully I'll have some free time this week to actually get started.

In the meantime, I thought I'd share a few things I've made.

cowboyroom.jpg

The reversible comforter and pillows and curtains (plus the painting). My younger son looooooves Woody and his name just happens to be Andrew.

castlecake.jpg

This is my very sad attempt at making a castle cake. My princess really wanted one and was quite insistent that Mommy make it. :confused3

And this last one, I'm rather proud of:

Now, if only my husband would organize his junk more neatly. :sad2:

That looks so cute! Perfect that his name is Andrew! My ds would love that room!

Ok - I have been looking at Carla C's A-Line pattern and I think I want it - I just have to figure out if I can afford the $10 this week! Can someone (or someones) tell me WHY I should get it - I have a little A-line dress pattern from McCall's or Simplicity but I just can't seem to make it come out right! What makes this one different?!

Thanks!!!

Kristina
