Disboards messing up my computer??

I figured it out Beth! :p

I wonder why this is happening this week though, it never happened before.

Anyway, thanks for your help! I appreciate it very much.

I am having the same problem, but I don't have AOL. I do however have MSN and the problem is worse if I am signed into MSN and the DIS at the same time. I do have problems at least once a day with the computer freezing when I am on the Dis.

:( It's been slow for me too the past couple of days....
I'm on AOL...switching to the IE browser hasn't made a difference that I can tell. Seems to be since the reappearance of the black dot :( Probably a coindidence...has anything else been changed since then? It was running along just fine for me right before that

No problem here, I use Windows XP Home, Internet Explorer 6.0, and am hooked up through a Comcast Cable modem.

Thankyou very much!!! I didn't know I could log on this way!!!
I'm ashamed to say I've had this computer for 8 years and never logged on using Explorer(?)

airhead( ....ya think????)

Same thing was happening to me yesterday(Tuesday). I've got Windows 98, and AOL 7.0.

At first I thought it was my computer, but all other sites were fine(after rebooting), so it pretty much ruled that out. I was able to get on the DIS using IE. So far today everthing's working fine(knocking on wood, lol)

I hate to say this, but it could be due to the return of the "black dot" for replied to threads. I think Alex told me that it might do that, so we have to see what kind of difference it is making. I hate to say this, because I love the convenience of the black dots, but if this stays this slow, I say get rid of them!

It's slowed up both of my computers. We use IE on both of them. I have XP on the desktop and ME on the laptop. The desktop has been super slow, but the laptop has frozen completely.

I'd hate to see the black dot go, but this is ridiculous. I feel like I'm back on dial-up.

I've had a problem with a slo-o-ow computer for over a week now, not sure if it has anything to do with the DIS......certainly not the Black Dot as that just reaapeared a couple of days ago.

Seems it's slow most of the time unless I'm on at 2 and 3 a.m. But yesterday I had trouble at another website. I minimized AOL and then went into Internet Explorer to the website. Zip, zip, zip it went! AOL is making me...

danacara is having a similar problem. she is using windows NT and using IE. whenever she tries to load any dis page it slows her computer down a lot and then she has to restart to get it to stop. she says it's been like this for three days.

any ideas?

cathy, i agree. i love the dot, but it has benn REALLY slow recently.

I use Windows 2000 and Internet Explorer here...at home we have 95 and MSN. Both have same problem..

I've had slow response at home using Windows 97, Internet Explorer on a cable modem. I've also had a similar problem at work...also using Explorer. It really does seem related to the return of the black dot.

It's a little dot that you see on the envelopes on all the threads you have replied to.

I'm so glad it's not just me!! AOL is getting useless. I automatically log-on using it and I can't get anything to open up! Just AOL stuff. I have been using IE now and it's fine. A little slower at busier times of day. It's really nice at 6:00 am. I am, in fact, thinking quite seriously of getting rid of AOL. I really didn't want to have to change all my email addresses but this is crazy.
Wondered what those black dots were on the envelopes!!! I just have to say thank-you to the wonderful tech people here. Great job!:Pinkbounc

Thank you.
I didn't notice the black dots. If they are causing the trouble, I hope they get rid of them soon.

Thanks again!

I'm also having the same problem connecting from work using win2k and IE over a LAN connection.
It takes about 3min for a page to load here

Ok, I have turned off the dot for now, could people PLEASE report back and let me know if it makes a difference?
