Disboards messing up my computer??

I still can't go to the boards using AOL. If I even try to get there, my computer gets all messed up and I have to restart it.
NOW, Internet Explorer is crashing too! But, I don't know if that's from the Dis or from something else.

So its not just my computer. I've been deleting like crazy to free up space. Am using Windows 98 and AOL 8.0. Couldn't get on this morning but didn't have a problem this afternoon.

I am so glad to have read this thread. These are the same problems I have been having. I kept thinking it was my computer. I have tried every fix possible and it still does the same thing. I am using windows me and AOL 8.0. I sure hope this gets fixed.

I'm so glad I found this thread, mine has been doing this for a couple days I have AOL 8.0 and windows 98 but I also had AOL 7.0 still downloaded so signed on there and everything was ok. I was even thinking of deleating the 8.0 and trying to re-install it and see if that helps.

Everything seems to be working fine for me. I'm running ie on Windows XP with a 1.5mb cable modem.

Just got back on but had to go through Microsoft Internet Explorer. Its still running slow though. I am typing faster than the curser is moving.

We are trying a lot of things, the problem is that we can't reproduce it of find a common denomitator! Trust me we are frustrated too!

Also happy (if that's the word) to have found this thread. I had the same problem at the beginning of the week ( ie slowing everything down and having to restart the computer) - it was obvious it only related to the DIS Boards - but seems to have got better theses past few days. Is that tempting fate?

We are also AOL and Windows ME

Sometimes mine is okay for an hour or so, sometimes it gets bad as soon as I try to get on the boards.
It does seem better through Internet Explorer but I'd rather just be able to use AOL like I always have in the past.
It seems to have started when the new look was added, but ...what do I know? Not much about computers, that's for sure!

I'm on dial-up, AOL and IE and things did seem to slow way down a few days ago. . but I think Alex made some adjustments and now it seems to be zipping along just fine. .

To those who are working on the problem -- Alex and WillyJ???

I am still having the same problems I had earlier. The Theme Park Attractions & Strategies, Disney Resorts, and DVC Discussion forums seem to be working as normal.

The rest of the boards are still v-e-r-y slow, bordering on too frustrating to even attempt.

This probably won't help, but what I see on the bottom bar of my browser (what in the heck is that area called?) on the slow boards is:

Connecting to 198.65.141.55 for . . . a-w-h-i-l-e.

Then it says, "Receiving image (0 bytes of 147 bytes, 0 bytes/sec):back 3.gif," again, for . . . a-w-h-i-l-e.

Then, "Receiving image (0 bytes of 46.01, 0 bytes/sec):block_white.gif" again, for . . . a-w-h-i-l-e.

Then, if I'm lucky, the page willl finally load.

Could there be anything about the three pages I mentioned earlier that is different, coding-wise, than the rest of the site? Just food for thought, because those three pages really do seem to be OK.

Good luck!! I can hardly wait for this to be resolved. I know I don't post a whole lot, but I really do love these boards. (And, right now, I really NEED the W.I.S.H. board <vbg>)

It did it this morning and I am hesitant to even try it through AOL anymore.
Sometimes I can't even RESTART my computer without shutting it down...the bad way!
I'm doing better going through IE, it seems a little slow but it doesn't mess with my whole computer in any way.

I got brave and tried accessing the DIS under AOL again and IT WORKS!!
