We were at Epcot March 1 and after waiting in line one hour for soarin we were escorted out the back door with no explaination. It appeared they closwed down the whole building. We stopped at guest relations to see about getting fast pass for something else and they were not at all helpful I think Disney should have handled the situation for their guest with a little more epthy.

There were reports of smoke in the biulding, seems the important thing was to get everyone out.......This is not the end of the world..

Just my opinion....AKK

I understand getting people out safely is #1 priority, but I can also see how frustrating to wait an hour in line and just have to leave. Its a shame they couldn't do a fast pass like they do for rides they shut down. But I am sure there is a reason they didn't.

Did you get to ride later?

If you're truly upset about how the situation was handled, you should contact Disney directly, and I'm sure they'll make it right.

If it was indeed a safety situation, then it's likely that Disney did not explain more about to for a couple of reasons:

1) so as not to alarm people and to help evacuate the building quickly
2) so as not to show up on the evening news because Guests were suddenly calling out Disney safety as an issue and the local TV / news outlets would jump on that
3) in order to get everyone out and onto the rest of their day as quickly as possible with as little drama as possible

But again, if you feel that you should have been treated differently or if the situation put a true damper on your vacation, then you should contact Disney and tell them that.

:earsboy:

I agree, although it was a safety issue I would still contact Disney. I'm sure they will make it right -- I'm a little surprised they didn't do that on that day but I still think they will!

Really you're going to complain because Disney put your saftey first!!

And I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot and Disney would'nt have acted as swiftly and as efficiently as they did someone would have complained about it.

Plus exactly how would have a fastpass for another ride made you feel better about missing out on riding Soarin? :confused3 When the problem was fixed all you had to do was go get back in line again.

I don't think the OP is complaining that they were concerned for their safety...I think they were upset that they waited in line for so long and without any explanation they were escorted out. No matter what the circumstance was, it would still be frustrating at first until the reason came out...like.".Oh, ok, the building was possibly on fire, I get it...thanks!"

I do understand why Disney didn't make a big deal about it for the above posted reasons...cause a scene, drama, and make the evening news. But I would be frustrated as well until I heard of an explanation.

Make WHAT right? What on earth is there to make right? There was a situation which could have put guests in danger. They evacuated. Yes, it's frustrating to wait in line only to not be able to go on the ride, but that's life.

Unfortunately, people getting themselves in a twist over the weirdest "injustices" at Disney also seems to be a part of life.

My friends were at the World two weeks ago when half of MK was not operational due to power outage (construction related I believe). When they reported it to me I asked if they received any fastpasses for the inconvenience. They said a few hours into the blackout certain rides were offered FPs but by the time they got to them the FP giver was gone.

In OPs situation I would think Disney could give a FP for the inconvenience regardless of the reason. It doesn't cost them a thing and is good PR.

One time we were on EE and we got stuck on it. We started the ride, waited to start going backwards, but we never got going again. Just sat there baking in the sun. :rotfl: DH and I just looked at each other after about 15 seconds and were like, this probably isn't good. We had to evacuate from there and walk down through the mountain. As we were leaving, they gave us one of FP's that were good for a couple of days in case we couldn't get back that day. It was more than enough - they didn't even have to give us that. It was very nice of them though.

The problem is logistics.

When a ride breaks down the line moves out slower because everyone is lining up to one or two people to get handed a fast pass. But this isn't a big deal because the ride is just broken, the person standing in line or in the exit lane is still perfectly safe.

If there is a possibility of an emergency (where people in line are still in danger) I would hope they wouldn't slow the exit so everyone can get fast passes. The priority is to get everyone out NOW! Then once they are all outside you don't know who was standing in line since we just merged into the park. I think this is just one of those rare situations where you just have to say ok and move on with your day even though you lost some time.

I am sure the OP is not complaining that disney takes safety first. But I would feel the same
If we had one Epcot day planned and we could not get back. i would feel sad we did not get on the ride we wanted.
but they shouls have done fp for sure.

Once Mom and I went on The Pirates Of The Carribean and there was a problem halfway through the attraction. We were given vouchers to return back after it was fixed but we didn't persue it. There'd be another time to ride it again regardless.

I wouldn't make a big stink over such a miniscule thing. And the safety of the guests is more important than the ride itself.

I agree

I don't know what p eople are upset with the OP over. it would be frustrating for ANY of us if we wasted an hour of our busily planned days and then had no explanation.

when the OP made this post it seems they still had no idea what the problem was or why they were escorted out

I can absolutely understand the frustration. Disney is expected to be at a certain level (because they are so good at what they do)... if something like this happened one would expect Disney would do something like a FP like they do for just about EVERY other issue or dissappointment.

This post isn't far fetched to think that maybe they could have gotten a fast pass or something for wasting an hour. yes it happens but that doesn't make it any less of a bummer when we have such little precious time at the world :)

If it was for safety reasons, smoke, fire, etc I don't think you should expect Fastpasses. It's something that is beyond Disney's control. I could understand if the ride broke down and you had to leave the ride, then ok, I can see them giving fastpasses. I would be disappointed too but I wouldn't expect anything from Disney except getting us out safely and timely. You may have deserved a better explanantion, but that's about it. I think that people think that just because it's Disney, they deserve something from them every time something happens. :rolleyes2

I feel for you, I would have been really upset as well... but now that it is done and over I am sure it didn't ruin your day or your trip, right?

I know I would have been fuming but after some time I would have calmed down and realized it was for the best interest of me, and my family. Hope your day got better, so jealous you are at Disney now!

It was not problem with a ride, they did not know what exactly is the problem, they did not know if building will reopen on this day or even next, so even if they wanted, they could not give you any fps. Their priority was to move people to safety and only then figure out what went wrong. They handled situation well.

I think people think that way because that's how Disney has always presented itself. if something goes wrong they compensate you for it normally. Disney is the one that has set up this expectation. I can't blame people for looking for their compensation when something goes wrong like disney normally does :confused3

ITA! Safety first but once the situation is resolved the OP shouldn't have to wait in line again. A FP is the least Disney could do.:)
