Disappointed with sizing of Disney kids clothes

We just got back last night and went through the same ordeal. While at one of the resorts for dinner we realized it was chilly and needed to buy hoodies. After trying on several styles and sizes because they all fit differently we were able to make out $150.00 purchase. It amazed me how different they all fit. Always try on especially if on vacation.

The mens shirts online run huge, a large is like a XXL. It's funny in the parks they fit more true to size. In the parks I fit into the kids large. Saves me some $$.

I agree that both the size and quality need work. We bought DS a sweatshirt last year, and the area underneath the applique looks all bubbled and terrible. It happened after maybe 2 washes.

I've found that T-shirts that I've bought for my DS at WDW tend to run small, and I like to get them a little bigger so he can wear them a little longer, but t-shirts that I've bought him at the Disney Store tend to run big...I try to buy most of his WDW clothes shopping at the outlets; a few trips ago I had some major scores with shirts for him that he will grow into, and I paid a fraction of the price for the same t-shirt at the parks (for example, the "por favor mantaganse de los puertas" shirt was $7 at the outlet!)

I've noted this certainly with adult clothing at WDW. Sometimes I've been able to wear kids' sizes, other times I have to get the XL sixed shirt. They certainly need to work on sizing.

I also think they need to work on pricing. They could easily offer more reasonably priced clothing in the parks.

Yes, and the adult sizing at the disneystore online is terrible too. I have found the bathing suits run huge! Which makes me feel good initially (Wow, a size " " is swimming on me!:rotfl:) but then I have to send it back.

:rotfl: I found the same thing, but this also has forever gotten Disney my business for bathing suit purchases! :thumbsup2

All thier clothes: online, disney store and in the parks are all over the place. The adult womens clothing is the worst I think. The sizes are everywhere, I have gotten the same size purchased in the same trip and had shirts too small and way too big.

Yup, Disney clothes are junk. We haven't bought much in the past few years as we were tired of odd sizing, faded clothes and clothes that shrink or rip after 1 wearing, or sometimes no wearing! We caved and bought a cute Cars polo shirt for baby this summer, and didn't even get to wear it for 5 mins. when we noticed seam came apart. I emailed Disney Merchandise and they credited my VISA card. I sent them a long email about being DVC members and being concerned about the quality of their merchandise.

We don't buy much as the quality really is horrible! Sorry OP, but you are not alone, Tiger

Yes, we have had a difficult time with their clothes as well. The kids clothes shrink up right away, no matter how they are washed and the adult clothes are very ill fitting. :sad2:

Yep, my DH was the only one of us who bought a shirt last year (an '08 Epcot Food and Wine tee) and after one wash/dry it was too snug.

I like the idea of making it into a pillow - is it as simple as it sounds? :goodvibes

Their sizing is yucky. I picked up a nightgown in my normal size. Luckily I decided to try it on in the room because it turned out to be too small.

I took it back the next day and got a bigger size. it's shrunk now though and my DD10 is wearing it instead. At least someone in our house is getting use out of it.

I very seldom buy clothes at WDW anymore because I get tired of dealing with the sizing issues. Hoodies are about the only thing we still buy.

I haven't done it yet, but I'm planning to just cut the arms off the t-shirt to make more of a rectangle shape and then sew it together inside out (leaving a section un-sewn for the stuffing). You then flip it back out so that the picture is facing out and then stuff it / sew up the little section that you left unsewn, and then throw it on the bed!:goodvibes
I'll try to make it soon so I can let you know how it worked out!

Totally agree! When my daughter was 1 1/2 we bought her a tee shirt I think a size 2T. I swear she wore that till she was 4! This time I bought my 13 month old a size 24 months thinking I could get 2 seasons out of it since she is barely in 18 months now and I think one might be all we get!

The adult clothing too my husband bought a tee shirt XL and he was wondering if he should get a bigger size (he always wears XL) I was like no remember the other one you have its huge don't get bigger than that, well its too tight we gave it to my brother. Same with me I bought a large sweatshirt and normally I wear a medium the sweatshirt just fits.

Forgive me as I've not read the whole thread, but based on the OP yes it bugs me! My Mum bought my little boy some baby vests earlier this year when he was nearly 5 months old. She bought him mostly 12 month old baby vests as they look so small. He is wearing them now and he's not even 6 months yet!

Yeah, I've had that problem too. I ended up giving my XL shirt to my size 9 BFF because between how tight it was to begin with and how much it shrank in the wash, there was no way it was going to fit me! It fits her quite nicely, which makes me wonder how Disney is defining XL these days.... The Kate Moss sizing method?

We use to buy a lot of Disney Clothes but not any more. The sizing is terrible for adults and children.

I am a size L and at Disney, well, sometimes the XL don't even come close! Our niece is tiny, size S, she had a shirt picked out size S (yellow tide died shirt at Downtone Disney store -- I think Thumper was on it) well, when she held it up I told her nope, that would fit a child medium maybe. We ended up buying a size L womens. I wanted the same shirt but if the L fit her there was no way it would fit me. My daughter and her cousin suggested looking at XL or large women's sizes. Well, 1X had sleeves the exact same width as niece's size L. Now a women who would wear 1X does not have the same sleeve width but who ever made this shirts for Disney thinks they do. The width of the shirt was huge! Then little bitty sleeves. What a joke.

I always hold the shirt or jacket up, look it over and try on. Buy one size larger if cotton and sometimes that even doesn't work. I hope Disney people start paying attention to these threads. Kathy

Thanks! I actually just mentioned this idea to DH, who said not to do it b/c he wants to lose weight and then the shirt will fit.

I was excited b/c I just re-did our rec room in a Disney World theme, and an Epcot t-shirt pillow would fit right in. Otherwise I have a feeling that over-priced Disney t-shirt is going to spend all eternity in DH's dresser drawer. :confused3

Oh well!
